Gavin had a decent sense of the fact that Ron was clearly choking down some displeasure, although he didn't comment on it. Sitting in the library, jotting down notes as fast as your hand can move acted as a good distraction for the uncomfortable glances Ron shot Gavin every now and then. Gavin knew why-- Ron was one of, if not Benji's best friend. It was safe to assume he knew more than Gavin would like him to, and that he was (understandably) disapproving of it.

Gavin glanced up from his notebook as Ron closed his computer, trying to return the uneasy smile Ron had offered him. "I always take notes by hand. I find it helps me to remember things better." Which was true. Typing moved faster than writing, so you had to hold information in your head longer while handwriting than you did if you typed.

He stared at Ron for a few seconds, half expecting him to call out the elephant in the room and bring up the topic Gavin dreaded with all of his soul, but when Ron remained silent, Gavin turned his gaze back down to his paper, getting back to work. He opened up a few books at once in an effort to appear as engrossed in his work as possible, hoping that his apparent business would prevent any conversation deeper than passing comments.
