It was definitely strange, but not in the bad way. It was simply not something they did on regular basis and not something Ron usually thought about about. He was not someone to overanalyze a kiss, however, and he was comfortable enough with Benji to just shelf the event under "a fairly normal Dalton day".

"I really want to win," he said with a small sigh and then suddenly chuckled. "Imagine that, going into history as the first team to lose the competition because the councilmen refused to make out." He shook his head, probably more amused by the idea than he should be. Perhaps he was slightly overworked.

"So do I," Benji agreed, looking over at his friend when he started to laugh. He had to join in a little when Ron explained, and he shook his head a moment later, his grin still in place. "Absolutely tragic," he teased, "I'm sure Blaine would be so disappointed in eyes..."

He rolled his eyes, but he didn't mean it to be condescending in any way. Actually, he kind of missed Blaine and the other seniors. "To go from National champions to that... I don't know if it'd be shameful or just plain sad." Not that he actually warranted any real thought, but that wasn't the point.

"Blaine would never forgive us," Ron replied, shaking his head. He missed Blaine as well, but as weeks and months passed, he was becoming more and more confident that they could function without him. They were doing quite well so far and he hoped they would succeed at Sectionals.

"Sad," he decided. "Also oddly ironic, considering the Regionals last year." He frowned and shook his head, not wanting to think about that right now.

Benji frowned slightly at the reminder. He was still so upset that the judges had allowed their personal beliefs to affect their opinions - weren't judges meant to be unbiased? It had all worked out in the end, but it was still extremely unfair. And being so careful with duet songs had proven difficult, but Benji hoped that they wouldn't face another similar situation. "It really would be," he agreed after a moment, then, hoping to lift the mood before it could drop any lower, he gently nudged his best friend. "I guess it's good that we've already done our part in blocking this turn of luck, then."

His cheeks turning slightly pink once again, Ron nodded, grinning. "It is, indeed," he said. "No one can say we are not taking it seriously." He did not want to worry about things or call back the bitterness from last year´s Regionals. He wanted things to go well and he did not want to stress himself further than necessary. Therefore he was more than happy to go with any kind of mood lifting talk.

A wide grin broke on his face then, and Benji gave a soft laughed. "Right!" he agreed, "I mean, we're no Wes and Thad, but we can still do serious!" Really, the council this year was a far cry from what that of the previous year had been, but Benji didn't see it as a weakness. He and the others were just going to be themselves, and hold onto the faith that it would work out in the end.

"We are great in our own way," Ron shrugged slightly and grinned at his friend. "I think I am getting used to being the councilman..." he said a moment later. It still surprised it sometimes, but he felt much more certain about it than he used to.

Nodding his own agreement, Benji returned the grin. His expression softened into a more genuine smile a moment later, though. "You're a really, really great councilman, Ron," he reassured, his voice filled with sincerity, "I'm glad you stuck with it."

“Thank you. I am glad as well,” Ron admitted. Being a councilman was time consuming, stressful and still a little bit scary, but it was also rewarding and it was doing wonders to his self-confidence.

He was really grateful for all the votes he had been given and while he was still more than a little surprised at the results of the elections, he was getting used to the fact that yes, he was indeed the councilman of a glee club with the title of national winners.

“I am not certain how good a job I am doing, but I try. You are really great yourself, by the way.”
