Who: Tak and Dorian
What: Duets
Where: Music Room
When: November 2nd, Tuesday afternoon
Rating: SFW

Having already preformed with the younger boy previously before, Tak was more then happy when he'd agreed to another jam session. Not wanting to feel as though Ron was being replaced (though he doubt he did) Tak had visited the other boy earlier, tackling him with a hug and chocolate. After a half hour of chirping happily at the prospect of performing a duet with Ron, the blonde had ventured to the music room with his equipment in toe.

Having set up his stand and tuned his violin he awaited the other boy's arrival with a short warm up song. It was nothing too difficult, though Tak enjoyed playing it greatly. Moving about the room in an odd dance with a silly grin upon his face as he played.

Playing a piano/violin duet with Tak had been great, so Dorian was more than happy to do it again. And Ron really didn't seem to mind, so there was no need to worry about that (at least not as long as it didn't look like Tak preferred to play with Dorian rather than with Ron, but how could that happen?). Instead, Dorian worried about being late, and he knew Tak was waiting for him even before he entered the room because he could hear the violin. Walking in, he wondered if Tak would see him before the end of the piece. In any case, he didn't want to interrupt the performance, so he didn't say anything and just stayed near the door, listening to the beautiful sound, admiring the musician's obvious talent.

Indeed Tak did see Dorian before the end of the piece, the music halting abruptly as the blonde boy broke out into a small grin. Bounding over towards the doorway he gave a great wave for a dramatic greeting he was hoping wouldn't frighten the younger boy. "You're here! Sorry I started without you, I figured you got caught up with classes or something."

Pausing a moment to allow Dorian time to process Tak's seemingly frantic form of speech, the blonde held his violin and bow carefully. With far more care than anything else he'd put into holding, he continued to grin despite his attempts at contained excitement. "How was class by the way? Since I assumed and all?"

The dramatic greeting amused Dorian - Ron surely wouldn't have done that, but Tak? Not particularly surprising, and certainly not frightening. "I'm here," he confirmed rather stupidly (and much more calmly, in what he could have called a Ron-like way if he had been aware of taking his first Warbler friend as a role model). "But if one of us should apologize, it's me. At least you were not bored but still, I'm late and I'm sorry."

Even if he didn't mind the slightly strange behavior, Dorian wondered why Tak looked so excited. The prospect of playing some music together was great, of course, but could it justify that? Tak asked his question first, though. "Last period is normally free for me but today I was in the French class - out of curiosity. And then I talked to Monsieur Leclerc and...I'm sorry for keeping you waiting," he said sheepishly. "I should have done that another day. But you... Did you get some good news or something?"

Surpressing the urge to hug the smaller boy at the rather Ron like reply, Tak blinked as he continued to speak. Blinking far quicker than normal he was sure it had been Ron speaking for a second before the blonde's mind grasped the situation. Was Ron mentoring Dorian? That would have been far cuter than humanly possible. A continued pause as Tak's mind registered how Phil like the thoughts were and felt the chill of affection run his spine. "Nah, you're good."

"Aw, that's cool! You gunna start helping out with your mad french skills? Or just checking out the class and stuff?" Tak was happy to see the younger boy making his rounds of the classes and eventually, he hoped Dorian would know how amazing a school they went to Dalton was. Mentioning Tak's excitement in a way it was the blonde's turn to reply sheepishly.

"No, not really I'm just having a good day I guess. Warblers, light homework, and playing with you. It's a good day!" Truth be told, he was just excited to play and perform they were an escape and that was far more thrilling than anything Tak could come up with. Though the use of music to move you to another world wasn't often thought of as normal and as such Tak avoided saying such things around those not quite used to his brand of thought.

Dorian wouldn't have minded the hug but of course he couldn't guess what Tak was thinking so he couldn't allow him to do it. He saw, however, that Tak looked a little puzzled, and briefly wondered if he had said something wrong. Even if English was his mother's first language, they most often speak French at home due to his father's inability to speak English correctly, so sometimes what he said was weirdly worded. He really had no idea of what could have been wrong in this case, though.

Mad French skills? It made him chuckle. "It's just my first language. Nothing to be proud of. And I didn't want to risk to embarrass the students who have just begun to learn it, but someone who's in my English class in the previous period knew I had the last period free and asked if I'd go to French with him so I said yes. Then I stayed to ask Monsieur Leclerc about his club, we started talking in French, and that's why I'm late." He refrained from apologizing again, but it probably could be heard in the tone of the last words.

The day was definitely good in Dorian's opinion too. "You're right, those are sufficient reasons to be happy. And don't think I had forgotten just because I was distracted by French. I had thought of it all day and I can't wait to play." He could practically hear the piano calling him. And if Tak had voiced his thought about music, he would have understood completely. Also, he wasn't really like Ron - merely trying to imitate him unconsciously because he had convinced himself that a student of upper-class boarding school was expected to behave like that - so he finally let his own excitement show and looked way more like the child he still thought he was when he added "Can we start right now?".

Chickling Tak shook his head and motioned for the other boy towards the piano with a grin. He could see the excitement dancing in Dorians features a moment and it amused him. "Glad to hear I can brighten your day a little!"

Turning his attention towards the piano once a second time he brought his violin to rest against the stand beside his music stand. "Have anything in particular you want to play today or are you in thw mood for winging it?" Truth me told, the blonde was just happy to play and sharing the excitement with someone was always a bonus.

"Feel free to shout and scream and sing, don't worry, I won't tell Ron the music made you lose control." He added with a teasing wink. Of course he was playing but there had always been a thin atmosphere of tension due to the lack of knowing one another.

"Music is always likely to make my day, and it's even better when shared with someone who loves it too so obviously, you can do that," Dorian replied with a grin. "You, the beautiful sound of your violin, and this wonderful piano," he added, letting his enthusiasm show again as he sat down in front of the instrument.

"I don't know... The improvisation we did last time sounded quite nice, and it was fun, wasn't it?" He loved to improvised when he played alone but hadn't been so sure he could do it with someone else. Now he was more than willing to try again.

The mention of Ron puzzled Dorian for a moment. Then he laughed. "You think he forbade me to act more like you than like him?" he asked, wondering what could have given Tak that impression. "Okay, maybe it looks like it sometimes," he admitted on reflection. "I hadn't realized."

"There really is something great about knowing someone else shares that love of music with you." Tak commented with an amused smile, his features shifting into a grin as Dorian continued to describe his violin sound. A soft chuckle escaped him as he shook his head. "Charmer. But I'm not the only one with a beautiful sound. You've got real talent, Dorian. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise."

At the mention of revisiting the improb they'd had with their previous jam session Tak nodded in agreement. It'd been fun and a long time since he'd just let go without a care as to what came around the turn of his bow or the other boy's steady fingers. The ivory keys of the piano had a way of working well with the temperamental strings of his violin. "I think have a plan then! Because that was a ton of fun."

"Forbade is such a strong word." The blonde chuckled, glancing towards the younger boy before speaking again. "I'd like to think you've been picking up on his mannerisms. Which is cute, though I didn't think you'd have them down so well so fast." Tak grinned, attempting to assure the other boy he was simply teasing as older students usually did with younger students.

"Haha, just have fun. That's my advice. The rest'll fall into place."

Dorian obviously agreed that it was great to know people who shared his love of music. Then...he almost protested, saying he wouldn't try to charm a boy, but he realized it could be taken wrong and decided to keep quiet. There was, however, no reason to refrain from replying lightly to the last part. "No one tried so far. It must mean you're right. Not that I doubted it." He chuckled, hoping Tak would understand he had just taken a pretentious air and tone for fun. "Thanks, by the way," he added, now entirely serious. "It means more when it comes from someone who's a real musician."

Glad to see that Tak liked the suggestion, Dorian immediately started playing a few notes. They had completely improvised the piece the previous time so now they could only rely on their memory to play it again, but it wasn't very hard. And trying new variations would be fun.

Was Dorian really picking out on Ron's mannerism? He honestly hadn't thought he could, but... "It might be that I admire him so much I want to be like him...but not all the time, because it wouldn't be fun to be so serious when I'm with people who are not." He didn't mind the teasing at all. The word "cute" embarrassed him slightly but he knew it wasn't meant as mockery even if it was used in a way that made it sound like it referred to a young child imitating an adult or an older sibling.

"Good advice," he approved. "And easy to follow right now. Ready to play?"
