NATIONALS HOTEL MADNESS

The Dalton Caravan has taken up two floors of this swanky hotel. Each faculty chaperone is in charge of no more than six boys. Warblers are two to a room, non-Warblers are four to a room.

First person to post in a room thread should put all the boys in that room in the subject of the post, please.

For morning threads, put them under the previous night. Monday morning threads would go under Sunday night, for example.

"Well..." He honestly hadn't expected that. "That's a relief. I'm glad it doesn't make me look like a total weirdo or anything." Not that he wouldn't have been used to it. Rubbing his arm he looked away shyly. He didn't really know Ron but he didn't really know any of the other Warblers either. So he would've been a shy, nervous wreck no matter who he wound up staying with. A part of him was thankful it was Ron and not one of the Warblers with the louder personality. He could probably get along with Ron. "It was just... I don't know. I guess I was in something of a panic earlier and I locked myself in the bathroom and then thought it was kind of rude of me to hog the bathroom for the entire night so I built that to hide in instead." Why was he explaining this? His roommate had all ready said it was okay. He didn't require a full explanation which just seemed to make Leonard look crazy so why the hell was he offering one. "I'll clean it up." Yeah, he really had a way with people.

Accepting the offered piece of chocolate he managed to smile. "Thanks." He murmured, moving back to sit on the edge of his own bed. He stared down at the piece of chocolate for a moment, lost in thought (most of which weren't a jumbled mess) before turning his attention back to Ron. "Are you nervous? You have to be, right? Part of me still doesn't think I should be here and it has nothing to do with the fact that, after Vocal Adrenaline, I'm a little nervous around show choirs. It's just... I don't know. Maybe I'm not good enough." He took a bite from his piece of chocolate to keep from talking.

Ron listened to the other boy, slightly amused by the way Leonard was dealing with his nervousness. "I will admit, I am rather grateful you have decided to not take over the bathroom, I really crave a shower," he said, then smiled. "As far as I am concerned, if it helps you, I do not mind the construction, you can spend the night in it, even, if you want."

He made himself comfortable, pulled his legs up on the bed. He took a piece of chocolate for himself and smiled back at Leonard. "I am nervous, yes. This is the most important competition I have ever been at. However, there is no need to doubt yourself. It is difficult to get accepted among Warblers, many people audition time and time again and despite their talent, they do not get in. You made it, on the first attempt, even. You are most definitely good enough."

Self doubt was in Leonard’s nature. He’d spent the past 15 years of his life in someone else’s shadow. It became easier to simply assume there was some kind of motive behind his success than to actually accept that maybe he was good enough. He had assumed (especially when it was announced that there were TWO new Warblers) that the only reason he made it into the Warblers had more to do with the fact that he was a freshman than talent. Sure, part of him knew that was completely illogical. Castiel was a freshman too, after all, and he hadn’t been chosen. For some reason, Leonard had never really been able to hold onto that kind of logic for very long. Hearing it from Ron, however, managed to help drive that point home. He was good enough… for the Warblers and for Dalton. He could do this.

His smile brightened as he finished off his piece of chocolate. “I never actually thought about it that way. For awhile there I was afraid that I was only here because you guys needed a freshman. It’s a relief to know it was more than that.” He brushed his hair out of his eyes and moved until he was facing Ron on his own bed. “I guess it’s normal to be nervous, especially considering how important this is but… what else can we do but give it our best and hope it’s enough? You’re awesome, Ron. This team is amazing and a lot better than Vocal Adrenaline. Take it from someone who knows. You all connect with what you’re singing, with the audience. You’re not just going through the motions… the overly dramatic, flashy motions. The audience can tell. I can tell. More importantly, the judges will be able to tell. We’ll do fine.”

Ron could understand self-doubt. He still did not know how he made it in Warblers or how he had been one for so long. "I know how you feel," he admitted. "I still cannot believe I am a part of this all..."

"We are awesome," he corrected Leonard. "You are just as good as any of us. We will be great. And even if we do not win, though I really wish we would, we are going to have great time on stage." They needed to win, he knew that. They needed to at least place, they definitely needed to beat New Directions. More than they needed to beat Vocal Adrenaline. But when he spoke, he felt his own confidence grow.
