Who: Gavin & Benji
What: Comfort
Where: Gavin's room
When: April 30th
Rating: SFW, most likely

After what had been said last night, Benji had some idea as to what was probably upsetting Gavin, but he didn't really want to assume anything. It wasn't like Gavin's whole life revolved around himself and Vince - he had a lot of family problems right then, too. Whatever it turned out to be, he just wanted to be there for the other boy - Gavin had done so much for him recently, and Benji was more than willing to return the favor. Plus, he just didn't like seeing Gavin upset, so if he could get him smiling again or give him someone to vent to, he would. It didn't take long for him to get from his room to Gavin's, and he knocked on the door, waiting for Gavin to answer; he didn't want to just barge in and disrupt him.

Gavin had been sitting on his bed since he read the journal of Noah's that seemed to have the whole school up in a frenzy. Only one post had caught his eye though, and it really just left him feeling destroyed; is that what people really thought about the three of them being together? Some of the replies seemed relatively polite, calmly agreeing that sixteen-year-olds shouldn’t be trying three-way relationships—a valid point, but it wasn’t anyone’s place to bring it up. The point was, the three of them were trying, just as everyone in a pair relationship tries to keep their pair going strong. Gavin failed to see the difference. He was so sure that what they had going was something good, and now he was full of doubt. The knock on the door was the first thing that was able to pull Gavin out of his stupor. He crossed the room and pulled the door open, grabbing Benji into a hug right there in the hall.

Slipping his arms around the smaller boy, Benji tugged him in closer as he tightened the hug. He didn't particularly care if anyone saw them - Hell, maybe they should see how obviously upset Gavin was about all of this. Not that Benji wasn't upset, too, because he definitely was. "Hey," he murmured, pressing a light kiss to Gavin's temple before pulling back and offering his boyfriend a small, reassuring smile.

Gavin pressed his face into Benji’s shoulder as he felt his boyfriend’s arms tighten around him. What was it about being in Benji’s arms that just made Gavin feel so safe and protected? Gavin almost instantly felt better just knowing that Benji was there, and the small kiss to the side of Gavin’s forehead helped to calm the anxiety that had been buzzing in the bottom of his stomach. “Hi.” Gavin whimpered, stepping back to let Benji in through the door. Although Benji may have half-wanted people to see how upset Gavin was, Gavin wanted his pain to be kept private, thinking that showing off how he felt about this would just make it worse.

If Gavin wanted privacy, Benji was more than willing to oblige. The sad, almost defeated tone of his boyfriend's voice made Benji frown with concern and he stepped inside, taking Gavin's hand into his own after he shut the door. He didn't know if he should ask what was wrong, as his assumption was probably correct, but he didn't want to have misinterpreted, either. Giving Gavin's hand a light squeeze, he led the older boy towards the bed and sat down, pulling him into his lap. "Do you want to talk about it, or did you just want company?" He asked after a pause. He didn't mind either way, he just wanted to do whatever he could to make Gavin feel better.

Gavin allowed Benji to lead him over to the bed, glad that Benji had pulled him onto his own lap. It briefly crossed his mind how odd it was that although Benji was younger, Gavin was smaller and seemed to fall more often into the position of needing protection-- not that he minded. Gavin curled up and rested his head on Benji's shoulder, nuzzling into his neck. "I'm sorry." Gavin spoke quietly but his voice still managed to crack. "I've brought this upon you and Vince."

"That isn't true," he answered gently, his heart sinking a little at the confirmation that Gavin felt this way. "We all agreed to this, and if there was any blame to be given, it should be shouldered equally." That much was true, as far as Benji was concerned. How could they really blame Gavin when Vince had felt just as strongly for him? When Benji had agreed to let Gavin join them? "If we didn't want you with us, you wouldn't be. It's as simple as that."

Gavin pulled his head back up, his eyes glossed over but his mouth in a weak grin. Briefly, he pressed his lips against Benji's before returning his head to the nook created at Benji's neck. "You always know the right thing to say." Gavin replied, his voice wavering slightly as a few tears managed to climb out of his eyes to fall onto Benji's shoulder.

Feeling Gavin's tears as they dampened his shirt, Benji pouted, but he wouldn't tell Gavin not to cry; sometimes crying was what people needed to do. Reaching up, he let his fingers run gently through the other boy's hair, "It's all gonna be okay." Quietly - but determinedly - he added, "We'll prove them wrong; all three of us."

Unsure of how to reply, Gavin just buried his face deeper into Benji's shirt. Everything just seemed so off balance-- not because of anything they were doing, but how everyone else was reacting. All three of them weren't the people to ignore what other people thought, and it was clear that what everyone else was saying was at least affecting Gavin and Vince in a very negative way.

Gavin couldn't stop the words that came out of his mouth, even if he had wanted to. Which he didn't. "I love you." He muttered almost too quiet to hear.

Almost too quiet, but not quite; at least, Benji was fairly certain that he'd heard what he thought he'd heard. Blushing deeply, he pressed another kiss to Gavin's temple, unsure of what to say. He felt guilty not being able to say it back, but that had gone okay with Vince, so hopefully it would be okay this time, too. It wasn't like he didn't want to be able to say it - he just want there yet; it had only been in the past few weeks that he'd even said it to Vince.

Shifting around, Benji layed back, pulling Gavin down on top of him. He still didn't know what to say, though, so he gently tilted the other boy's face up and kissed him.

Gavin was nervous in the few moments of Benji's hesitation. The words Gavin had spoke carried a weight he wasn't even sure he understood yet, and somehow he knew he meant them. Nonetheless, hesitance gave him a moment of anxiety-- Was it wrong of him to say that? They hadn't officially been together that long, but Benji had been aware of Gavin's feelings for a while now and they had been spending a lot of very emotionally-charged comfort-based spans of time together over the last few weeks. When a person becomes your security blanket, you fall faster for them. The movement almost pushed Gavin's panic over the edge, thinking that Benji was getting up; then he pulled Gavin down on top of him, and suddenly kissing and just... Gavin smiled against Benji's lips, pressing lightly back into the kiss.

No, Benji definitely wasn't getting up. He could never just push Gavin away after he'd been so open and honest with him - he cared about him far too much to do something so harsh. Letting his hand slide to the base of Gavin's neck, Benji pressed into the kiss a bit harder, his other arm snaking around his boyfriend's waist as he held him close. Fingers tracing lightly over the small of Gavin's back, another moment or two passed before Benji finally pulled back from the kiss and offered his boyfriend a shy smile.

Gavin shuddered slightly when he felt Benji's fingers on the back of his neck, but for the most part was able to keep himself under control-- though he could practically feel his eyes dilating from pleasure. He took a few careful breaths once they broke apart and soon enough was back at a completely controllable equilibrium. Benji had just barely missed hitting Gavin's weakest spot and turning this into something that would've left them both very uncomfortable. "I-I love you." Gavin repeated, with more certainty this time, grinning down at Benji.

The look in Gavin's eyes wasn't exactly hard to miss, and Benji couldn't help but feel a little curious; he didn't think he'd done anything too out of the ordinary, but then, everyone was different. Should he ask if he'd done something wrong? The last thing he wanted was for Gavin - well, for either of them, if he was being totally honest - to end up being uncomfortable... Those concerns were swept from his mind as the other boy spoke up, though, and Benji's own eyes lit up a little - but only for a moment. Leaning up, he pressed a light kiss to Gavin's lips as his nerves took over again. "I really... um, want to be able to say that," he started, biting his lip lightly as he held his boyfriend's gaze, "But I... can't. Yet."

Gavin rolled off of Benji and took his customary cuddling position next to the other boy, pressed up against Benji's side and resting his head on Benji's shoulder. For some reason, a silly grin had plastered itself on Gavin's face and refused to remove itself. "I know." He replied simply, pressing a kiss onto Benji's cheek. "I-I just... like to say it."

Shifting to fit comfortably against Gavin, Benji grinned as well when he felt the kiss to his cheek. Maybe it was dumb that two words and such a simple gesture could reassure him, but he didn't care; he was just glad that Gavin understood and wasn't offended. "Well... you can say it as much as you'd like," he half-teased before turning his head to press a kiss to the tip of the other boy's nose. He couldn't help but wonder if Vince and Gavin had already exchanged those same three words, but he knew that it shouldn't matter. This wasn't some sort of competition or race - each progression would work in its own time.
