What: BATTLE OF THE BAKERS! After Chris challenges Toby to a bake-off, they meet and compete :D

Chris headed down to the Chopp hall kitchen with all of his favourite special ingredients and supplies, wearing his lucky apron. He was pumped, ready to show off his baking skills. It was a nice distraction, it kept him from going up to Joel's room.

They had already decided on three rounds. The first was cookies, then cupcakes, then a cake finale. There would be three judges and a winner for each round. They would be chosen half based on presentation and half based on taste. There was a time limit of 50 minutes per round, including baking time, but with an hour and fifteen minutes for the cake. Chris wasn't sure what the prize was, but he was fine with just doing this for fun.

Toby arrived slightly early to the event, which was pretty much a miracle in itself. His bag was filled with ingredients. He unpacked and got the equipment he would need from the kitchen, trying not to pay too much attention to who had shown up.

Cookies were first, so he got out his rainbow sprinkles and sugar and began mixing ingredients, making sure to set the oven ahead of time. Baking from memory was already harder than he'd anticipated.

	Chris began to take out his ingredients. He was making raspberry thumbprint cookies, an old classic favourite. He started by mixing the fruits on the stove to make the filling. He looked over to see what Toby was doing. He immediately saw rainbow sprinkles. "Amateur" he mumbled in French. He hadn't realized yet that he had forgotten to preset the oven. Recalling vaguely that there'd been some chatter over his journal entry over a bake-off, Phil was well-prepared for the mess in the kitchen. He didn't bat a lash and settled against the wall, watching with a grin. It resembled Mom's old shop, the tiny one back when he was a kid. All of a sudden he was running away from his big brother again, and Mom was yelling at them both to behave.

"You know, I'm actually looking forward to this. I wonder if anyone in Westerville can match my mom aside from, say, Nurse Connie."

Christophe was also getting nostalgic, remembering the summer when he learned to cook these with his mother in Portugal. He turned away from the stove to work on the dough, and noticed Phil. He shot the boy a smile, staying focused on his cooking. He knew the time crunch would be hard.

"You'd better be looking forward to it. And don't worry, I learned how to cook and bake from the best baker in Portugal."

Toby saw Christophe waving at Phil and Toby glanced worriedly at Phil, hoping his roommate wasn't about to turn on him now.

But looking at the crowd ended up being too distracting for Toby. Instead of getting back to mixing his batter, he found himself wondering why so many people had even shown up for this. Didn't Nurse Connie have an office to watch? And why was the crazy science teacher here?

Christophe finally finished up his cookies, too hot to serve, with 4 minutes to spare. He hoped that was enough time for them to cool if he put them in the freezer, and presented his raspberry thumbprint cookies with almonds to the three judges just in time, leaving a bunch of extras out for everyone else. He hadn't yet tasted the final product, but he had faith in them. He shot friendly smiles to the three judges, and explained what he had made with confidence.

	Toby finished his rainbow/rainbow sprinkle sugar cookies just in time, but they were probably a bit undercooked. He carefully balanced two plates, leaving one for the judges and giving the other to the spectators. (Reply to this) (Parent)
