January Warbler Concert
Who: WARBLERS
What: WARBLER CONCERT
Where: DALTON THEATER
When: Sunday, January 30, 7 PM
Rating: SFW (we hope!)

The performance was scheduled to begin at 7 PM sharp, with one intermission halfway through. Students could attend free of charge with their student IDs, while family and the community were charged $5 a ticket at the door. Seats were first-come, first-served, and the theater was filling up fast.

((Performances will be led by Noah, Ben M., Kurt, Mocchi, (intermission), Ben D., Ron, and Raf, in that order, finishing with one truly-choral song in which there are no leads. All Warblers participate as backup for all the songs. Please post your song in the appropriate performances section.))

Evan hadn't exactly wanted to come to the concert. Not because he didn't want to show his support, but because he was slightly worried about seeing Ron. After the night before, he was certain that the other boy wouldn't want to even look at him, let alone talk. He had eventually decided to watch though, simply because he couldn't keep away.

Ecstatic for all of the guys who had solos (but especially psyched for Ron, Raf, and Mocchi especially), Evan had taken the first seat he could and was not drawing attention to himself. That was a sure-fire way to know that something was wrong. Another was the fact that he looked like death warmed up, with his hood up over his hair and a sad expression on his face. With arms folded, he'd watched the first half of the concert and was now patiently waiting for the intermission to be over.

"They're amazing," Evan said in an emotionless tone as he heard the boy next to him speak.

"They really are!" Tak chirped happily without blinking an eye. He grinned a little before looking over at the boy next to him. He'd seen him around but never really had the chance to talk to him, nor knew his name.

"Ah, I'm Tak. You know any of the Warblers?" He gave a friendly smile, noticing the other boy was a bit down but decided not to mention it. It was none of his business really, and he'd learned from Mocchi the hard way that not everyone wanted to open up and be friends.

Returning the smile as best he could, Evan shifted slightly in his seat. He'd also seen the other boy around, knew him by sight. Obviously he knew his name now too. "I'm Evan, and I know a few of them," he said, "Ron is my roommate, Raf is one of my best friends, and Mocchi lives next door."

Not sure if Tak actually knew the Warblers by name, he began to elaborate. "They're all sophomores. Ron is the dark haired, dark eyed one who looks a little bit awkward. Raf is the one with the epic blue eyes who's bouncing around like he's been mainlining sugar, and Mocchi was the last one to sing."

"Nice to meet you, Evan." Tak smiled and nodded slowly paying attention as Evan talked.

"Thats cool! I met Ron recently, were supposed to do a duet for fun sometime in the future. I play violin, see and piano and violin are an awesome combo. Mocchi and I are friends, we've got an...interesting past. But it's all cool now. Raf? I've talked to him on the journals. Never met him in person though. Epic blue eyes huh? I'll have to go investigate."

He chuckled a little and then smacked his forehead in self exasperation. "Gah, I'm sorry Evan. Music just gets me really excited, especially when it's good music. So do you sing? Or play or something? Or are you just awesome in another way?"

Evan was slightly curious about Tak and Mocchi's interesting history and, on a normal day, probably would have been bold enough to ask. Luckily for Tak, Evan wasn't feeling his usual intrusive self. Instead he just smiled at how enthusiastic the other boy seemed.

"I'm tone deaf," he admitted with a shrug, "So no music-related stuff for me. I am in the drama club though, so I guess that's my forte."

Tak half grinned before shrugging at the 'tone deaf' comment. He knew music wasn't for everyone but was glad Evan could appreciate music.

"Really? You're an actor?!" Tak smiled happily at that. He'd never really hung out with the drama kids back in New York. But he always had a fine appreciation for those who could act. He certainly couldn't, he couldn't even lie.

"Man, I'm so jealous," giving a mock pout "You must be really talented then. I can't even lie right. Gah! Now I wanna see you do your thing! Is there a play or something coming up?"

With another nod, Evan beamed. "I love acting," he said, finally sounding as though he were actually alive, "I don't even know what it is that's appealing. Probably that I can pretend to be whoever I want, and slipping into another person's life is awesome."

It felt odd, but knowing that Tak was envious of him sort of gave Evan a thrill. Even if the other boy was just being dramatic, it still made Evan feel good about himself. "Not that I know of," he said honestly, folding his arms as he thought, "But I'm sure there will be at some point. Maybe you should try out? You can't be as bad as you say."

	Tak paused a moment and made a very awkward face. "My name is Zackary Binx," His voice faltered, and afterwards his eyes seemed to give it away. He hated the name but it was just to prove a point. Wrinkling his nose slightly, Evan shook his head. "Try and feel comfortable with the name. Forget that you have one of your own and take this fake name as a substitute," he instructed. He was sure that Tak wasn't looking for any sort of impromptu acting class, but Evan continued regardless.

Clearly his throat slightly, he closed his eyes for only a moment before opening them again and smiling. "I'm Zackary Binx," he said calmly and convincingly, quirking his eyebrow slightly as he grinned. After keeping this up for a moment, reality snapped and Evan was once again himself. "See? It's pretty easy once you get the hang of it."

Tak gawked after the performance. He continued to stare before clapping excitedly for a minute.

"That was awesome! I actually believed you weren't Evan for a second." He laughed nervously at how completely stupid he must have sounded. He really was excitable.

"Ah, I guess I can try again." He closed his eyes frowning for a moment. He tried clearing his head except for the line and opened his eyes with a small smile.

"My name is Zackary Binx." It was better, but not by much. His voice still didn't seem to accept the name and his eyes clearly gave it away. But the face he made had gone and it almost seemed awkwardly normal.

"Bleh." Tak commented after a moment, he'd stuck his tongue out to emphasize his dislike.

The clapping caught him by surprise, but Evan couldn't help but grin. He did love attention after all, and knowing that Tak had thought that rather small and somewhat mediocre performance was good really boosted his ego.

Nodding once the other boy tried, Evan smiled. "That time was a lot better," he said, "If you relax a little more, you'll get the hang of it. Just don't give up so easily."

Tak laughed and rubbed the back of his neck nervously. "I guess if I practiced or something. It just feels so unnatural...thanks though."

Shifting in his seat he glanced at the stage before turning his attention back to Evan. "I think I'll just stick to music and leave all of the acting to you," He chuckled as he spoke "I don't think I have an acting bone in my body, and it just comes naturally for you."
