Filch is not an obvious pairing in my mind with Severus... but the way you've written this is so lovely. The idea that this lonely man has had someone who cared and looked out for him silently all those years and was rooting for him is just really awesome.
I also really loved Mrs. Norris the matchmaker cat. : ) She was great.
The journal itself was really funny and enlightening. I can totally see where Filch would develop a habit to entertain himself since he has a somewhat demeaning position and he's the only squib in a castle full of wizards. It would most likely also be something that would secretly make him feel superior in some way to those wizards...like something that made him feel he knew their secrets. Excellent idea, this.
