"Grandmother," Teddy said, willing the shape of his eyes to morph into something more almond shaped, the color fading to match one of the pictures he'd seen of his mother. "I thought that we had plans for dinner out this Friday."

She didn't respond at first and Teddy thought she might be making her excuses to give to Kingsley.

"You're correct of course," she said. "However, it isn't often I'm asked to attend a Ministry event. There's going to be some important people there who have been avoiding me."

Kingsley nodded in agreement, "As my date, they would definitely speak with you, and I don't doubt your ability to sway them with your kindness and subtlety."

"But…" Teddy said, cocking his head to the left, something his mother apparently had done as a young girl.

"Teddy," Kingsley interrupted, "It's only one date, she'll even be back early. I can't imagine you would deny your grandmother the opportunity to speak with the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures."

Dinner finished, Teddy considered claiming an upset stomach to escape upstairs and avoid dessert, but then Kingsley stood up and carried the dishes into the kitchen. Teddy grabbed the remaining plates and flatware, determined to prove he could be as helpful, and followed him.

"You don't mind about Friday, do you, Teddy? It's only one date, after all."

His Gran nodded, still grinning. "It's a nice evening, Kingsley. Why don't you wait outside with a glass of lemonade or something stronger if you prefer? This might take a few minutes."

"Well, you know what to look out for now," Kingsley said, standing up. He walked nearer to her, enfolding her hands in his.

Sighing, she nodded. "Thank you for your help, Kingsley. I appreciate it. "

Andie sighed and hoped that Teddy had learned something this evening. She glanced at the empty spot in the study where Kingsley had been and smiled to herself. His help with her little conspiracy had been fun and Andie hoped he hadn't minded either. If she and Harry were lacking in discipline, maybe Kingsley's touch tonight would help.
