Rules
1. This is a complex game with a veritable wealth of interesting character interactions, no few of which will be between characters who absolutely hate one another. Do not let this spill over into out of character drama or all participants will be given one warning and banned if they do not heed it. Similarly, we expect everyone here to act like adults and not let any out of character relationships (be they positive or negative) dictate character actions. Anyone who repeatedly demonstrates an inability to understand the difference between in character and out of character will be ejected from the game. This includes the previously mentioned offenses as well as god-moding and metagaming. If you do not know what these terms mean, look them up. Should OOC problems arise, please let us know immediately. Moderators are here to moderate and we will do so without breaking any confidences.

2. We encourage players to come up with many varied and complex plots, but we ask that major ones be run by us first. This includes your character having offspring (however they acquire said children.) All such things must be realistic. This means there is no mpreg here. However, female pregnancy is allowed. The pregnancies must be pre-approved by the moderator, and during the approval process, gender and number of babies must be specified. Non-approved pregnancies will be terminated immediately and in a suitably horrific manner. Adoptions must also be approved by the moderators, and there is a set waiting time between the approval and the actual adoption. No exceptions.

3. Friends groups are not allowed for any reason other than plotting. Any in-character posts must be visible to all members of the community.

4. Each character must be active every week. This can be anything from a posted log or plotty journal entry (pic/video spams, which belong under cuts, do not count, nor do declarations of love for your character's S.O. or children) to a deep thread on another character's journal ("deep" doesn't necessarily mean "philosophical" here - we just don't consider "I love you!" "I love you too!" "Let's sex!" *SEX* to be anything of substance, really.)

5. There will be a limit of one character per player to start with, but more characters can be applied for once the player shows that they are active and willing to plot. There is no limit to characters per player, however, you will not be able to play more than two characters that are involved or related unless you can convince the moderators that there is a good reason for this. Anyone found to be playing almost entirely with only him or herself will be asked to leave the community.
Children should be played by the parent(s) or another designated person. They should have journals and the rules still apply to them. However, any child over the age of thirteen is considered to be mentally competent enough to be played independently and will fall under the “no playing two closely-related people” rule. Note: the thirteen-year-old rule does not apply to children who grow up to age 13 in the game. For example, if you have a child who is ten and you play them for three years, you can continue to play them. However, you cannot adopt a child older than ten.

6. Chatspeak is not allowed except in silly comments and non-modly posts on the ooc community. Its appearance in game is grounds for dismissal.

7. This game is both het and slash friendly, but it is first and foremost a plot-driven game. Any character who does nothing but shag for a month will be booted. Along those same lines, we understand that playing out relationships between characters is part of the joy of role-playing. However, we expect all relationships to be at least somewhat realistic. In keeping with this aim, all legally-binding marriages must be pre-approved by the mods. Also bear in mind that we here take our gin in teacups, which should be your reply to that question on the application.

8. There are two communities: [info]down_in_albion and [info]d_i_a_ooc. The first is for logs involving more than one character (rps), the second for official-type out of character posts (such as announcements of joining, plot discussions, and mod posts) and fun out of character stuff (this can be anything from getting-to-know-you posts for both muns and characters to discussions of completely unrelated things.) Both have moderated membership so that age-sensitive material may be locked away and to protect any information in the mun/charrie chart, so you won't be able to see that information until you have joined the communities. That said, please do not do so until after you have received confirmation that you are in fact accepted to the game.

9. Logs posted to the main community are expected to be written out in complete sentences with proper grammar and spelling. They should be posted in the format:
Who: (characters involved)
When: (date)
Where: (location)
Rating: (include any specific warnings, such as slash, incest, bdsm, etc.)

Please keep who you are playing in mind when you set the location for your logs. We are not banning any particular locations, but we reserve the right to question what we consider to be any particularly strange choices, such as Peter and Carl meeting for coffee at Starbucks when there's a pub right next door. We encourage the use of Google for finding real life locations in and around London.

10. Any rping which takes place over IM is not considered to be in game unless it is posted as a log in which case it is subject to the same constraints as any other log. Lazy threading (i.e. one character posting to the main community for a specific other to come along and play with them without the format or any sort of setup at all) is not allowed.

11. If you quote anything, be they lyrics or poetry or whatever, please note the source, even if just in an OOC comment at the end of your post or comment.

12. If your character has ties to another already in the game, we strongly suggest you familiarize yourself with them before you actually start interacting in the game. Remember - if your character knows them in real life, you'll be expected to know them here!
