Jared awoke to find an arm around him, holding him close. He was startled when he realized they both were naked. Then, he recalled the events of the night before and just relaxed into Jensen's body.
"Are you cold?" Jensen asked sleepily.
"No. Just comfortable."
"Me, too," Jensen kissed Jared's shoulder as he pulled him closer.
Jared smiled as he fell to sleep in his future husband's arms. He knew they were going to be okay.

After breakfast, Tristan pulled Jared aside.
"I'm sorry that I couldn't help you more," he was obviously distressed. "I have never been with a man. I couldn't give you any advice. I hoped Jensen's caring personality would carry over into the bedroom. When I heard--"
"It's alright, Father," Jared said quickly as he realized his father had heard everything said and done in the tent. "We had an awkward start but we're taking it slow."
"But, I heard--"
"We were rushing ahead too fast. It won't happen again and you don't have to worry. The Jensen you see in the daylight is the same man at night."
"We can go back. If Jensen won't make you happy, we can go back to our old life."
"I think Jensen could make me happy. I’m actually quite fond of him, really."
Tristan looked relieved. "I know you'd never lie to me. If it changes, if Jensen changes into someone you can't stay with, tell me and we can go home."
"Thanks for the offer, Father, but where we're going is our new home. I think we'll have good lives there."
After Tristan walked away, Jared's mind was boggled with knowing that everyone at camp had heard them. His father had heard the fear in his voice as he'd tried to scramble away from Jensen.
***
"What's wrong?" Jensen asked as they were packing up camp.
"My father heard us last night. They all did. My father asked me about it. I interrupted him before he could say what he'd heard, but we both know what it was."
"Servants don't care what we're doing," Jensen told him. "They'd never tell what they heard. There are many servants at the castle and if you are going to censure what you say and do while they're around, you're going to lead a very boring life."
Jared thought about that for a moment.
"Should I go talk to Tristan? Do you think that would help?"
"No. I think I put his fears to rest. We won't have a repeat of last night, will we?"
"At some point in the future, when we're both ready, we'll try it again and it will be wonderful. I promise."
Jared blushed and looked away.

It was another day of riding. At least Jared didn't feel uncomfortable seated behind Jensen anymore. He knew the man and had seen the muscles that he felt as he hung on.
Jensen covered one of Jared's hands with his, making sure to hold him on the horse. Then, he brought Jared's other hand to his lips and kissed it before returning it to where it had been.
It was a gesture so simple yet it meant so much to Jared. He thought his heart was going to burst.
Tristan watched his son and Jensen during the day and he happened to see Jensen kiss Jared's hand. That was all the confirmation he needed that his son was cherished and loved.

They took their shoes off outside the tent. Then, the bodyguard took his post as they went inside.
Jensen led Jared over to the basin. He started to remove his own clothes but Jared stopped him.
"Allow me," Jared's fingers trembled as he disrobed the man in front of him.
He wrung out a cloth and began to wash Jensen's face. His green eyes looked at Jared lovingly.
Jared finished washing all of Jensen's skin, memorizing the amazing beauty before him as he did so.
When Jared put the cloth back, Jensen smiled at him and removed Jared's clothes like he was opening a present. He took the wet cloth and slid it over Jared's tanned skin. He took his time in the soft light. He dried Jared off, took his hand, and led him to their bed.
Jensen used a hand to cup Jared's cheek. "Did I scare you away last night?"
"No," Jared replied. "I'm still here."
Jensen smiled. "I liked waking up with your body next to mine."
"Same here," Jared hid his face in embarrassment.
"What are you doing?" Jensen started to laugh. "It's just me here. And, it is more than okay that you enjoy waking up next to your future spouse."
"I know," Jared's voice was muffled by the pillow. "I'm just not used to this, I guess."
"This is new for me, too, Jared. It's something we're going to learn together."
Upon hearing that, Jared moved his face out of his pillow. "Really?"
I haven't been married before or been able to wake up next to someone. Did you think I had?"
"I just didn't know. How did you learn about, well, what we were doing last night?"
"I fell for someone who had experience. He showed me and I'll show you what I know."
Jared let out a breath he'd been holding, unsure of how Jensen would react to such a personal question.
"You can ask me anything," Jensen told him. "We're in this together now. Just like how I can ask you anything."
Jared nodded.
"Come here," Jensen put an arm out so Jared could rest his head on his shoulder. "I'll tell you about our new home."
Jensen described a castle in which he had his own quarters. He had room for Jared, Tristan and even more. There were rolling hills of plush grass, perfect for picnics or riding horses. There were stores that sold all kinds of homemade goods or fresh produce. Royalty had some duties but not many. There would be plenty of time for leisure activities.
"I don't think I have any leisure activities," Jared told him. "What do you do in your free time?"
"Visit some nobility. I'm not into hunting. I like to read."
"I can read," Jared interrupted. "I wasn't able to go to school but my father taught me to read."
"You'll be able to learn many things in our library. We have books on all kinds of topics. Whatever you should want would be there, if not, we'll find what you're looking for."
"What's your family like?"
"My mother, Sophia, can't wait to meet you. My father, Lucas, is interested in you, too, but you know how women are just more excited for that type of thing."
"I don't know how women are, Jensen. I grew up without my mother, remember? My father never remarried."
"I'm sorry," Jensen ran his fingers through Jared's hair. "I didn't mean to be insensitive. I forgot. My mother will take you in as her own, although I know that isn't the same. I'm sorry."
"That's okay," Jared replied as he looked up at Jensen with stars in his eyes. "Tell me about the rest of your family."
"My grandfather, John, is still King. My uncle, Daniel, will take the throne when Grandfather decides to give it up. Daniel is single and has no heirs. Next in line after Daniel is my mother and father. I'm an only child, so that puts me, us, next in line."
"What happens after us, Jensen? We aren't having heirs unless you know of some miracle that I don't."
"There are ways around that, Jared. We can have heirs. We just need to be discreet and the kingdom will accept the child as ours, even though it's not biologically possible."
"Am I going to fit in at all in the castle?" Jared moved his head to Jensen's chest and listened to his heart beat.
"It might take you some time to feel like you belong there. But, my quarters will be your home and you should feel comfortable there pretty quickly."
"Why?"
"Because it's just me, you and Tristan living there. I have some servants but you'll find that they are unobtrusive and there to help you. I picked them myself. They're very loyal. You can trust them."
"I'm not used to servants at all, Jensen. What do they do?"
"Whatever you want them to. They can help with your wardrobe, dressing or grooming. They can get people for you or find something that you want. They can also be a companion if I'm not around. Although some places keep strict boundaries between royalty and servants, I just use my best judgment. I take good care of them and they take good care of us in return. We'll be getting another bodyguard when we get to the castle. I'll help you choose him since he'll be keeping you safe."
"This is all so new to me."
"Don't worry, Jared," Jensen kissed the top of his head. "I'll be beside you the whole time."
