Well, it is that day, and though I'm not much on Valentine's Day, I do wish you all a happy one, in whatever way that happens for you.

On a less ambivalent note, now that the strike's over, I read on MSNBC and a variety of other outlets that we can expect new CSI by April 3. There was speculation about a longer season, but I'm not holding my breath.

Geez. It's been a pretty good season. Too bad there's no more after ( this one, spoiled here. )
That's all she wrote for season eight. Wow. Hope there'll be a season nine--it's such a shame. So far, this season was the best since season five.

It's been pretty quiet around here. With the writers on strike and the good probability that there will be no new episodes of CSI (or dozens of other shows) until the fall of '08 at the earliest, we need to do something to keep the CSI love alive. (NOTE: CBS.com says an episode called Bull will be showing this Thursday at the usual time. It's a new ep as far as I can tell!) You're all welcome to post here, as you know. When you have a random CSI thought that you'd like to discuss with fellow fans, put it up here and invite comments!

We have a few new members now. Maybe a round of reintroductions is in order. I'm your mod, elmyraemilie, and I've been a CSI fan since I came across my first CSI slash story on The Tenth Muse's fic site. I can even tell you exactly what day it was--November 19, 2004, because I posted about it in my journal. I started watching on Spike TV to see old episodes as well as new shows on Thursdays. I'm so glad I started in time to watch Grave Danger when it originally aired. Besides that, some of my favorite episodes are Jackpot, Who Shot Sherlock, King Baby, Kiss,Kiss, Bye, Bye, and Lady Heather's Box. Least favorite? Pirates of the Third Reich, which I will probably never watch again, not because it was a bad episode (and you have to admit there are a few pretty lame ones) but because of the subject matter in general.

So--comment here or make a separate post and tell us something about yourself, or make a fic rec, or whatever. With a great show and great characters, we've certainly got things to talk about!

If the writers' strike stops production of CSI (and tomorrow night's ep is looking like the last one they have in the can) would you rather see older eps (Seasons 1-4) newer eps (seasons 5-8) or a mixture? Any particular rerun eps you're hoping they put into the lineup?

Back on May 15, I posted my response to the 2007 Kink-Cliche challenge. It didn't feel like a whole story, and it still doesn't to some extent, but 24,000+ words later, it's at least come to a halt. A friend from fandom has recently been diagnosed with aplastic anemia. This is a vicious constellation of syndromes and disease that causes the bone marrow to stop producing all types of blood cells: no red cells, no platelets, no white cells--nothing. It's a frightening diagnosis, even now, when modern medicine is conquering so many fatal conditions. There was a time when aplastic anemia was invariably fatal, but that's not the case any more. Anti-immunosuppresive drugs and selective transfusions can stretch time for those diagnosed, hopefully until a match for a bone marrow transplant can be found.

That's the hitch, of course. The person I'm talking about has a rare blood type, so finding a match will be an arduous process.

Please go to the National Marrow Donor Program website and find out how simple it is to register as a marrow donor. The process of donating is not nearly as difficult and complicated as it was even 10 years ago. You--you, yourself, sitting there reading this--could actually save another person's life.

Maybe even my friend's life, this vivid member of our community, this mother, wife, writer, and friend. Please go get the information and sign up to be a marrow donor. Thousands of people with aplastic anemia seek a marrow donor every day; unless their match has taken the time to register, their lifesaving search will be in vain. What a tragic loss.

Spread the word. Copy and paste this like the best meme in the world into every journal and blog you run. Get the word out. Ask people to register as bone marrow donors. Please register yourself--it could be the best thing you've ever done.

Hi all. I don't have anything new new to post, but it's new to this comm since I'm new here. The quasi-new thing is my very short CSI:LV Fic List. CSI isn't my primary fandom, but I do wander over here now and then. I have four. Three short shmoopy ones and one slightly longer and rather hot one. You should be able to pick that one out by the title I would think. Enjoy.

So witchdragon was commenting on a nice bit of slashy smut over at florida_minxie's IJ, and then made the suggestion that, since many people seem to be having some writing blocks recently, we should all post a bit of smut, kink, porn or other dirty story here at IJ on September 1. I'm all for that. There do not seem to be any rules, and I think that's the point--just post something. Write a little bit and put it up where people can pet you for writing it, and let's get those Muses to work again. Nothing like praise to feed the muse.

So write, post on September 1, and then comment on everyone else's. Let's get writing again!
