CITY LIMITS Crystal Crossover's only city is incredibly large, and is separated into five areas. Even though it wasn't originally designed this way, the areas are now broken down by social status-the poor in one, the middle class in another, and the aristocratic and royalty in yet another. It is surrounded by a great wall with eight gates, two in each area. There are soldiers stationed outside each gate as well as archers who patrol from atop the wall as lookouts for monster or other intruders. CRYSTAL SQUARE Crystal Square is located directly in the center of the city, making it accessible from all of the other areas. This is where the great crystal stands that protects the city and most outlying areas from the Mist. It is also where many city-wide events take place. DERNUM Commonly referred to as the slums, this is where the outcast and poor live in makeshift huts. Many of the seedier taverns, inns, and other establishments are here. It is also where black market trading and weapon smuggling happens. Most of the races that are looked down upon, like the Seeq and even some Bangaas, are located here. ALTERIUS This is the industrial part of the city. Many of the mills, black smiths, gun and ammo shops, and other kinds of factories and stores are located here. Anyone with a steady job most likely works here. Since there are a lot of workers, there are also a lot of pubs, taverns, and many other places to eat and drink. There are even a few residential areas for those who don't like to commute. The most common race here is Moogles, but there are Bangaas, Humes, Seeq, and even a few traces of Al Bhed to be found even though their true home is the Fehradi Sands. GALLOVANI Everything here is clean, quaint, and it very much resembles a European village, but on a much larger scale. Compared to the rest of the city, it is heavily populated and is comprised almost entirely of residential areas. There are also many small shops, pubs, and inns that are run by families. Many of the races, particularly Bangaas, Genomes, Humes, Nezumi, and Viera, live here in perfect harmony. EBENEEN Only royalty and nobles dwell here. There are even guards stationed at the entrance to this part of the city to keep out any of the commoners or people from the slums. Many who live here are born into money and own the factories in Alterius that employ most of the city's workers. Perhaps the most famous location in Ebeneen ,besides the grand castle, is the auction house. Common races that reside here are Guado, Humes, Nezumi, and Nu Mou. Even the rare Seeq that strikes it rich can be found here. OUTLYING AREAS There are many areas surrounding the city, as well as two main rivers that run through the land. Not all races live inside the city either. There are a few races that live in the forest and mountains, as well as distant lands barely traveled. In the bottomlands, there are also several farms and chocobo ranches. EULA COASTLINE This rocky beach is directly north of the city. If you exit from the gates of Alterius or Ebeneen, it's only a short walk to the ocean. This makes Alterius a prime location for trading and milling. In Ebeneen, there is a luxurious vacation spot connected to it, but only if you can afford it. Just keep an eye out for the Mist creatures that roam there. FLORENNA BOTTOMLANDS This expansive field of hills and valleys is located east of the city. There is a river than runs through it from the mountains, so the soil is rich for farming. There are also several chocobo ranches that raise them and rent them for travel. Unfortunately, many of the Mist creatures also think it's a nice place to call home. URSYDIAN WILDWOOD These woods are home to several races, such as Gria, Guado, and Viera. There is another river that runs through here, as well as several small creeks and ponds. Much to the Viera's disapproval, the workers of Alterius use wood from the forest to help run their businesses. However, the woods are also home to many of the more wild and vicious Mist creatures, so collecting the wood can be a dangerous task. ARKATUND MOUNTAINS Mist pours down high from the mountains, making it the most dangerous place to explore. Despite that, it is still the primary home of the Ronso and many of the larger Mist creatures. Traveling through the mountains can be quite hazardous, so most people refuse to go there. However, because of that, there might be the greatest mysterious to discover. FEHRADI SANDS Also called "Varnyte Cyhtc" by the Al Bhed who live there, this area is an enormous desert island located far north beyond the ocean. It has many indigenous creatures from the Mist all its own, such as Cactuars and Sandworms. Even though this is where the Al Bhed primarily dwell, there are many who also reside in Alterius. It is said that there are many hidden treasures and ancient technologies buried deep beneath its sands. THE MIST & BEYOND What lies beyond the Mist is still unknown. Anyone who ventures into the thick Mist surrounding Crystal Crossover suffers from severe poisoning, dies, or simply disappears and is never seen or heard from again. Not even the Moogles in charge of Mognet deliveries will dare go into it.
