Owl to Minister Kingsley Shacklebolt

Mr. Kingsley Shacklebolt
Minister of Magic
Ministry of Magic
Level 1
Room 545

19 December 1998

Dear Mr. Shacklebolt,

I'm sorry to disturb you as I'm sure that you have many things that pull at your attention. I do hope though my little letter can have a small amount of your time and attention. I'm new to the magical world seeing as my son is the only magical person in my family. Saying that I have tried to keep up with the affairs in your world. Since September, letters from my son and reading your newspapers have driven me to the conclusion that this isn't the proper setting for him to be taught. Now I don't want to pull him out of school, especially seeing as this is his last year. I believe with the best of my ability that I understand that it's impossible for the students to return to their former school at Hogwarts. Though it seems this new school, though devoid of oddities now?, is still not exactly suited to be the best place to learn. Teenagers have been known to push against the norm yes, but also dragging them unwilling into something new doesn't exactly work. If it is at all in your power I do ask you, from a mother's heart that you will at least give them their houses back, and with that some of their sanity. Thank you for taking your time to read my letter.

Yours sincerely

Mrs. Emily Kirke
