Arthur is uncertain what he’ll be waking up on his birthday - Declan has been giving him hints and glances the past way to insinuate something thoroughly enjoyable - but it isn’t an empty bed and no good morning from his boyfriend.
He showers and gets dressed, but Declan’s usual distracting presence is nowhere to be found. When Arthur goes to the kitchen for breakfast, he gets toast just the way he likes it, a large cup of coffee, and a kiss that leaves his knees weak.
“Morning,” Declan grins, biting his lips, and Arthur is immediately suspicious. He expects more, but there are no mentions of his birthday or plans after he gets home from his classes, and it leaves Arthur a little annoyed. He’d been under the impression that he was supposed to keep his calendar open for Declan, but here he is without any plans at all.
He doesn’t say anything as he climbs onto the back of Declan’s motorcycle, wondering if he confused the date, feeling more and more annoyed as they get closer to his university. Declan is usually so good about this sort of thing, but it feels like he’s completely forgotten.
It isn’t until Arthur is about to head into class that Declan says anything.
“See you later,” Arthur sighs, but a hand reaches out to grab him by the wrist. “Wha-”
“Have a great day, Birthday Boy,” Declan smiles, pulling Arthur in for a deep kiss. “I know you think I forgot, but I’m saving the fun for tonight.”
“Is that so?” Arthur asks, his nose bumping against Declan’s.
“Mhm. I’m going to give you one hell of a birthday dicking down when you get home, and you have all day to think of any special requests. Except for whipped cream, which we’ll have plenty of on hand.” Arthur is speechless, cheeks bright pink, and his awful, teasing boyfriend laughs. “Have fun at class, babe.”
Declan drives off, leaving Arthur unable to focus on anything else all day.
