The Beginning Is The End Is The Beginning. WHAT | A quick back-story & set up. WHEN | Monday, July 20 & Wednesday, July 22 RATING | PG
It was Monday at 12:03pm that the City of New York shook. Cracks in foundation occurred surrounding the city and most were under the impression that it was an earthquake. The violent tremors lasted for twenty-two minutes before the city went dark for just a few seconds. In those few seconds everything seemed to be in slow motion - but by the time it caught up, and light donned on the city, it was gone. A huge vacant crater was now gaping where New York City once was. Some people fell into it, and bodies were able to be seen laying along the foundation with their skeletons on the outside. It took authorities and the government nearly an hour to fully comprehend what had just happened. Heroes from all over had gotten word and were begged to aid, in any way they could.
There was no residue, no time signature, no explosives - no clues as to who could have done something like rip a city from it's very existence. There wasn't one mind that day that didn't ask: Where did it go?
78 million years ago... There was no calendar yet, but it was a Monday, mostly likely just after noon as the sun was highest in the sky. The world had just gone through a change of climate; the snowfalls had stopped as temperatures increased once more, intense volcanic activity producing carbon dioxide, the appearance of bees aided in the development of flowering plants, on land mammals were more common but still outnumbered by the reptilian beasts known as dinosaurs. In the water the sea creatures were at their largest, however sharks and rays were starting to gain population over the plesiosaurs and mosasaurs.
It was a crucial time in Earth's evolutionary history - and on this day which was assumed to be Monday, a little after noon, Pangea rumbled. In the middle of the forest, in what would eventually be the north east coast of North America, a future city appeared in it's distant-future's place. All the shops, restaurants, theaters, parks, streets, and even subways had made the move. However, not everyone survived - those that weren't missing were in the streets, their bodies inside out.
Naturally there was panic, and most of the survivors were on the brink of insanity. Though a select few quickly stood and tried to take some sort of leadership. Supermarkets were full, and people had all the department stores for clothing, and no landlord would be charging rent for a very long time. The weird thing was that the buildings for the most part were intact, and the electricity was still working. Even more odd, people could actually surf the internet, even log into their Facebooks, Twitter, and even watch YouTube videos. Phone calls were also possible to other people in the city. Phonecalls, and messages to people who were not in the city weren't working - there was static and error messages.
On the second day, a few heroes decided the importance of organization and social networking.. After all, who didn't have a computer nowadays; and if they didn't have one before the event, they could loot one from Best Buy. Once the network of journals and message board were up and running, it was advertised everywhere and open to the general public. It would be much easier to manage the questions and citizens.
As mid-day Wednesday approached, people were starting to appear in the city. Known superheroes and even villains. Citizens were starting to talk, and soon enough the blaming would start. No one knew dinosaurs were just outside the city, lurking in the forests, cautious and yet intimidated of something new that was now in violation of their territory.
