I would not consider personal ritual as superstition but then I suppose it can be looked at in that way. So what personal rituals do I follow?
I would not say that I have a daily ritual other than those little things one must perform when first waking or before going to sleep. Are they of any real interest? You really want to know how many brush strokes I use on my hair? Or how long I brush my teeth? I really did not think so.
What does that leave?
I believe the most interesting of the rituals that I perform is the one I must indulge in once every four to six weeks. When I feel the weight of living in a place filled with various forms of metals, I retreat to the Unseelie Court and my own personal domain there to spend time at the alter dedicated to Mother Nature.
I know I have mentioned I am not a religious being but this is completely different. It is like recharging and being reminded of what exactly I am each and every time I do it. Once you have heard the voice of Mother Nature humming through your blood, doing without it just is not possible.
Another personal ritual, if you want to view it as such, is how I tend to my various gardens. Of course the way I tend them is unlike a human gardener because I have woven spells and wards into my little parcels of peace so that in a moment I can know what is needed and see to it. Making sure that connection stays active is a ritual that must be performed at least once every season.
Usually I allow no one to witness either of these personal rituals because they are for my own peace and well-being. That and while I perform them I am vulnerable. Not exactly something I want to be in front of anyone.
