Draco was having more than a bad day, but his cat running off really had to top it all. To make it worse, Draco believed Bacchus sensed his owner's anger and was just plain scared and hiding. Draco knew his temper wasn't a good thing, but controlling it was getting harder and harder, especially when he got word he was supposed to visit his grandmother.

Draco had other ideas. If his parents really felt he was nothing more than the ungrateful little sot Nymphadora accused him of being, then why should he bother placating them? Why should he bother subjecting himself to Druella? No, he was going to find his cat and a way out. That was more than a lofty goal considering how locked up the castle was, but, really, Draco was ready to fling himself into the Forbidden Forest and be done with it. Maybe even hide out in Hargrid's hut. The giant had been nice to him, right?

But first he needed his companion. Draco had that cat for years and wasn't about to lose him too. He didn't have much time. He was supposed to find his pet and go back to Umbridge immediately. Well, to hell with them all. He was a Malfoy and he still had his stubborn pride and perseverance. The forest couldn't be so terribly bad, could it? Besides, he had his journal tucked safely in his trouser pocket. He'd figure out who to write to when he was hidden away among the trees. And though he knew he couldn't use magic or he'd be detected, he had his wand also.
