[info]ranger_mods in [info]communicators

Hey there -

You may have noticed that as of late, we - the mods - have been less enthusiastic/involved in the game. There are too many reasons to list here, but we will bring up the ones we feel have impacted the state of the game (and us) the most.

First off, we'd like to address the amount of drama going on behind our backs since the game opened. We hear about all of the wank second-hand and after the fact, rather than having it brought to our attention in the first place -- which is what we're here for. We've never made ourselves unavailable or difficult to talk to about anything. We don't play favorites or choose sides with our players, nor do we hold grudges against anyone in the game. Yet, over and over again we're finding ourselves on the outside. It makes our job very difficult, and creates a tense atmosphere that even new people just joining seem to be able to pick up on. This has been brought to our attention by several players.

Secondly, since we posted the request that people bring plot ideas and game related questions to us through email, the amount of social interaction we receive has gone down to almost nothing. In the past few months, neither of us have been asked to scene or plot (with very few exceptions). Because of this we've started feeling less welcome in our own game, which is (for obvious reasons) totally unacceptable.

We've noticed a drop in quality in regards to writing standards, despite several warnings given out. This is something we feel we shouldn't even have had to address at all, but it's seemed to only get worse and become more common. We stated in the rules the expectations we had for our players, and as time has gone on those expectations have been increasingly disregarded.

Finally, the lack of action going on in general had been disheartening. Too often, threads are being dropped and people are being left out or feeling ignored. There are people we barely hear from in scenes or otherwise. These problems have been coming up a lot more frequently. Even after requesting that people post logs and start threads, we've seen a serious decline in the amount of scenes going up. Each game day the number seems to be dropping. Even after we posted the scene lottery to stir things up, nothing really improved. It makes our efforts feel like they've been in vain, and made us disinterested in the story arc we had intended on doing.

In short, we've lost our drive to moderate this game. It hasn't been fun for us in months, despite all our efforts to enjoy it again. This may seem abrupt, and some of you may consider it unfair, but we've decided to close the game. We debated the idea of having someone else take over, but it doesn't seem like people genuinely care enough to keep it alive. This was a really difficult decision for us, and we're both immensely saddened to see it ending like this -- and so soon. We felt it was best to end it now though, rather than prolonging it and dragging it through the mud. We didn't want to end up in a situation where we were leading the group on when everyone had already stopped caring months ago. We're both fairly devastated that it came down to this, given the amount of love we put into this project. We really wanted this to succeed and be an amazing group with amazing story lines. It just didn't end up how we'd imagined. We've been re-writing this all night, trying to reach some other conclusion and trying to express just how difficult this is for us both. We are so god damned sorry. This isn't something either of us are taking lightly.

We really appreciated the people in the game, and we're sorry to see it end like this. If anyone wants to hit us up for PSLs or anything, don't be shy. We wish you all the best of luck in other games. To our new players, we apologize. It was never supposed to end this soon.

Lots of love and may the power protect you,
Mod-bot & Plug-mod
