The government was still interested in him, though, so he was transferred and became a secret agent. He never returned to Cardiff and never worked for Torchwood Three. As far as he knows, Jack Harkness is a suspected assassin he has been assigned to track.

While they'd waited for Gwen to find her way to Rose's house-turned-Western-domicile, Jack had taken care of mashing up bananas and cooking up porridge for Gwen's baby to eat, and Ianto had located some appropriate cloth for eventual nappy use. After all, Ianto had more knowledge of fabric, and Jack had more experience with food and babies. Best to have supplies ready before Anwen needed a change. When that was done, they settled to wait.
