Although she knew she had no real reason to be, Jen was nervous. Not about seeing Priestly. No, she'd known him for far too long and considered him to be family - moreso than her actual family in a lot of ways, really - so there was no need for nervousness at seeing him again even if it had been a while from his point of view. After all, Priestly was Priestly. Even as a girl, that hadn't changed much, and now that he was a boy again she was certain he was back to the easy-going, surprisingly deep, completely sweet guy that she knew and adored.
Claire, however, was a complete and utter mystery to her.
Jen tried her best not to judge others, especially those she hadn't met. She did to some extent of course - she was human, after all - but for the most part she really tried not to let someone's name or appearance or anything else cause her to pass judgment before she'd gotten the chance to know them. And while this unknown girlfriend did get kudos for being with Priestly, one look at the tiny picture of the barbie doll-like blond over the message boards and made Jen take pause.
It wasn't that Priestly wasn't handsome. He was. In a very unique, not-her-type-at-all sort of way. But he wasn't exactly number one when it came to scoring girls. Especially girls who easily fell into the 'hottie' category. So why then, Jen had to wonder, was someone like Claire interested in him?
She hoped it was because the girl had gotten to know the sweetheart that Jen knew Priestly to be. She really hoped that was the case, and that Claire wasn't half as superficial as her stereotypical blond bombshell looks made her out to be. But some part of Jen, the jaded part that had been the butt of far too many jokes in school courtesy of girls who looked just like Claire looked, was wary.
She didn't let it show, though. Not as she threw on some clothes and her shoes, not as she left the apartment and made her way outside, not even as she found a spot under a tree to lean against to wait for Priestly to arrive. No, Jen wasn't going to let her concern, skepticism, and wariness show in the slightest. She was going to think positive, keep a smile on her face, and do her best to make a good impression on a girl who clearly meant a lot to one of her dearest friends.
And at the same time she did all of that, she made a silent vow to herself that if Claire ever hurt Priestly, Jen would have to spend the rest of her life in church praying for forgiveness for what she'd do to the bitch.
