WHO: Lucifer, Caden Winchester, & Sam Winchester
WHAT: Lucifer's arrival has prompted Sam to panic, and Caden is scared.
WHEN: After this
WHERE: Sam & Ruby's apartment
RATING: PG-13
STATUS: In Progress

There was a certain morbid irony in what he was doing that Lucifer could truly appreciate. Having apparently been the one to cause the fit in the first place, he was the one going there to try and help with it. Exactly why he was doing this fell into a rather number of murky areas, but in the end, it broke down into one very simple thing. If he was right there, in Sam's face, the man couldn't ignore him, couldn't even pretend to. Not to mention helping would solidify a positive association with him in the impressionable young mind of Sam's tiny child, and that, well, that could definitely work to his advantage one day.

Heading from his apartment down to the number that he'd been provided, Lucifer lingered outside, listening at the door for a moment before raising a hand to knock, "It's me, kid. Anything gotten better?" He asked, pretty sure that it hadn't but figuring he might as well try and see if the situation had improved at all. Of course, he could only hope that this kid hadn't found his mother yet, or he'd be in at least a modicum of trouble. Well, the sort of trouble that basically involved a very irritating rant and then likely a lecture about what not harassing someone meant. "If not, you can open the door, and I'll see what I can do."

"My name is Caden." Lucifer would hear Caden on the inside of the door, struggling to get to the lock. He tugged the door open a moment later, revealing a kitchen chair pushed against the wall.

"Daddy not waked up yet." Caden reached for Lucifer's hand, in order to lead him to the kitchen where Sam was out cold on the floor. He lay on his back, in such a way that indicated Caden had pushed him over. He had a gash above his eye, bleeding quite a bit.

"And mommy not here neither." Pictures of Caden and his parents graced the apartment, if Lucifer hadn't figured out that Sam and Ruby were together, it would be obvious from a single look around the decor.

"Can you help him, Lucy?" Caden looked down at Sam, then looked up at Lucifer, his eyes wide and hopeful.

Allowing himself to be guided from the door into the kitchen, taking one look down at Sam and resisting the urge to sigh from exasperation. Was the kid delusional or just truly stupid? He had to have been trying one of his little tricks to get him to go away, some sort of self flagellation that really would have only resulted in, well, this. Grabbing a dish rag from a nearby sink and wetting it, Lucifer glanced over at Caden and nodded, "Pretty sure he just needs something to knock him to his senses," He said, kneeling down next to Sam's prone form and pressing the wet cloth to the cut before smacking the side of his face. The blood was already soaking into the cloth, but Lucifer wasn't too concerned about that. People bled. It was one of the things that they did often and well. It was the unconscious bit that was rather irritating. "Wakey, wakey, Sammy. Rise and shine," He said, a playful lilt in his voice. "Time for you to wake up and face reality."

"Only Uncle Dean call Daddy Sammy." Caden stood a few feet away. He almost laughed at the voice Lucifer was using, but the fact Sam didn't respond made it not so funny. Caden didn't like seeing Sam like this, like he was asleep except he wasn't supposed to sleep on the kitchen floor. And he wasn't supposed to have that cut, and all that blood.

"You can help him, right? Him has to wake up." Caden looked to Lucifer once more, eyes trusting and on the verge of tears. "You has to help him, Mr Lucy!"

"Come on, Sammy. Don't embarrass me in front of the kid," Lucifer said, tapping the Winchester's cheek again. He'd figured that if anything would rouse Sam, even if he'd knocked himself unconscious, it would be his voice coupled with a rather intense desire to get as far away from it as possible. "The kid's about to cry here, so you'd better damn well get up before he starts because I don't have any idea how to deal with a crying kid except in ways that I'm not allowed to. Don't make me pull out the big guns, Sammy. You know I will, and then you'll just end up freaking out worse, and that's not good for anyone in this room."

Glancing back over at Caden, Lucifer made a quick motion to the fridge, "It's fine, kid. I've got this. Go... get yourself a juice box and calm down."

Caden couldn't decide if he liked Lucy or not. His new friend was moody. Kind of like Daddy when Sam got upset about something. But Sam wasn't waking up, Mommy wasn't home and Caden hadn't gotten a hold of Uncle Dean or Aunt Claire or anyone else who could help. Lucy had come right over, and that was a good thing, right?

Sam's eyes fluttered. He struggled a moment with the darkness that engulfed him, then came up with a gasp and a grunt, and both hands wildly thrust forward to try and push Lucifer away. "No! No! Get out! I can't...No!" Sam tried to scramble away from Lucifer, but his legs wouldn't work quite right and he couldn't seem to get his balance.

Caden backed up, so that he was halfway out of the kitchen. He'd never really seen his father act like that. He'd seen Sam upset, but never like this.

"Whoa there, cowboy. You're going to hurt yourself even more if you try stuff like that," Lucifer said, raising his hands away from Sam with a thought that maybe that would get the kid to stop acting so spazzy. The cheeky smile that graced his features probably wouldn't help Sam's panic, but really, he couldn't help but be a little bit amused and proud that he still inspired this much of a reaction without even really doing anything.

"You already got a really nasty cut on your head. Might want to take care of that," He said, standing up and taking a step away from Sam and outstretching his arms. He figured if anything would get Sam to just stop it would be the rather obvious thing standing in front of him.

"Take a good look at me, Sammy. Really. Just look. You notice anything? Anything at all that strikes you as odd? Because there's one really important thing that your tiny little brain is missing that would stop all of this. But, really, if you wish to continue to panic, have at it. Mind if I get a drink?"

"Caden. Go to your room." Caden's room was heavily warded, against demons. not angels. And Lucifer was an angel, even if he was the father of the demon race. There was no angel proofing in Caden's room, or the apartment at all. Why hadn't they angel proofed Caden's room?

Sam got to his feet. His knees felt like jelly. He needed to use the table, and the counter, to try and support his weight. "Caden. I said go!" Sam rarely raised his voice at Caden, and the fact that he did now only scared Caden and he stood frozen in fear, staring at his father and Lucy.

Sam couldn't focus well enough to spit his focus between them, and Lucifer was the bigger threat. "And you. You get out of my house. Get out!" He couldn't think clearly. He couldn't think past keeping Caden safe and getting Lucifer out of the apartment before Ruby came home.

"The words are 'thank you', Sammy. Repeat after me. Thannnnnnk yoooooou," Lucifer said, drawing the last two words out comically long, as if to try and make a distinct impact upon Sam's brain, as he crossed over to the fridge and pulled it open. "You don't yell at someone a kick them out when they've come out to make sure that you're not dead. Even if you look like you might have a really serious concussion. You should probably sit down before you fall down," He said, snagging one of the bottles out of the fridge before twisting it open and taking a sip. "Really nice to be able to drink something other than blood in this body for a change," He said, closing the fridge door and leaning back against it. "And really, sit down."

Glancing towards the door where Caden was standing, Lucifer offered him a slight smile before waving off what Sam was saying, "Don't worry about it, kid. I think the bump on the head's made him a little cranky," He said, taking another sip of his drink before waving at him to go. "But you should probably do as he says anyway. Adult talk. Probably going to get nasty."

Caden didn't move. His wide eyes darted between Sam, who looked like he was about to fall down again, and Lucifer. Sam hated to admit it, but Lucifer was right. He couldn't say if he had a concussion, but he definitely needed to sit down.

He stumbled to the table, and awkwardly pulled out a chair. "I want you to leave. I need you to leave."

Caden seemed to pull himself out of his trance, then. He stepped into the kitchen, and moved toward Lucifer. "No, Daddy. Him my friend. I got scared when you wouldn't wake up, and Mr Lucy came and helped me wake you. Him my friend."

Sam's mind couldn't work fast enough to argue the point. He couldn't argue the point really, without telling Caden things no five year old needed to know. "And I'm awake now, Caden, and I'd like for you to go to your room so...so the grown ups can talk."

Caden reached out to take hold of Lucifer's hand.

All right. This was a situation he'd never had to deal with before. Children were, by a very small measure, at least more tolerable than their adult counterparts, but actually having one move to interact with him on a positive level was a bit unnerving. But it gave him a rather prime point for exploitation, so he was more than willing to accept the gesture, turning his gaze over to Sam, and flashing him a smile. "See. Look. He likes me. I can't be all bad, Sammy. Even you've got to admit that," He said before turning his attention back down to the kid. "Even if he does have a point. Adult talk isn't always for little ears. Better that you keep that thing between them well away from it for as long as possible."

Exploited and reassured, both bases covered. God, he loved this place. So many new opportunities at his finger tips.

There's the sound of the door being opened, as Ruby rushed into the kitchen. "Sam? Are you ok-" she stopped short as she entered the kitchen. A hand instinctively went to the rather large bluge that was her stomach when she saw Lucifer, her eyes widdening horror.

"Get out of my house!" She screamed. Ruby could feel her body starting to shake, her nerves not even in control right now.

Well, now, yet another interesting development. Granted, he'd barely had time to take it in before he was being screamed at again. "You people are so touchy," He said. "What have I done? Honestly, what have I done since I have been here that has warranted this sort of harassment? I come over here because the kid if freaking out, and you're having some sort of fit and bleeding, then you both start yelling at me, and yet I'm the bad guy?" He said, taking another sip of his drink before setting in on the counter and eyeing at the both of them.

"Tell me how that makes any sense," He said before turning on his heel to look at Ruby, a slight smile gracing his features before his gaze flickered down to her belly. "Interesting choice. Not the one I would have made, but I suppose we've all got our quirks. Ruby, isn't it?" He asked, looking back up at her. "The witch, one of Lilith's favorites. She'd be so disappointed."

Sam stood so abruptly that his chair fell over, crashed to the floor. Caden jumped from the sudden noise, and the fact his father was acting strange. He gripped Lucifer's hand harder.

Sam caught the shift in Caden's posture. Apparently the fog around his brain was receding. He was starting to see things more clearly, and it was only for Caden's sake that he took a breath and pulled back. He reached for Ruby, and pulled her to him. He wanted to present a united front. The only problem was Caden was on the wrong side.

"You're right. We're being unreasonable. Why don't you go, so we can sort things out?" Sam tried to use a pleasant voice, and hoped Caden didn't pick up on the fact he was talking through his teeth. "Thank you for your help, but I'm on my feet now, and my wife is here to take care of everything else."

Call it Ruby's hormones acting up, but she really didn't care if she was being unreasonable. She wanted Lucifer gone. Out of her house. Out of their lives. Out of Colligo. She didn't want him here. Her head throbbed, and she was stiff as Sam pulled her to him.

"I don't care! I want him out! Now!"

"So do I." Sam kept his hands on Ruby, and sort of looked at her sideways. he didn't want to take his focus off Lucifer, especially with Caden so close to him. "Ruby, I need you to calm down. Caden, come over here with your mother and me. Lucifer, it's time for you to go."

How he'd gone from completely freaking out to calm and reasonable, Sam would never know. he supposed that came from being a father, and a husband. His wife and son came first. He needed to make sure they were safe, then he could, and would, freak out again.

Well, the solution to this situation wasn't difficult to see. Eyeing the pair of them for a long moment, he just clicked his tongue in a disapproving manner, "So, so touchy. You come help a guy, and this is the thanks you get," He said before turning his attention down to the kid at his side and nodded his head over towards Sam as he let go of Caden's hand. "Scat, kid. You're better off on that side of the room anyway," He said before looking up at Sam and Ruby and flashing them a smile.

"You'll figure it out eventually," He said before turning on his heel and heading to the door and calling out as he was leaving. "Oh, and best of luck to you both!" He said. "Considering your respective conditions, you'll be lucky if that kid doesn't come out a twisted, mutated mess. See you round, Sammy!"
