Accidental Voice Post
[There is a fair bit of moaning and shuffling although it's all muffled, as Raven's PDA is currently in her pocket. Her breathing can also be heard, carefully slow and steady, an occasional quiet grunt coming from her as she is bumped by someone. Suddenly, there is a loud scream and Raven's breath catches. A little girl's voice can be heard close by, tearful and terrified.]

Mommy, please get up! Please! We hafta go! We- [The moaning gets louder and more aggravated, a clear frenzy beginning to form. The little girl screams again.] NO! Stop! Don't hurt me, please! MOMMY!

[There's a sound that those who have heard Raven transform before will easily recognize as her changing shape again, coupled with the sound of running. The girl's screams get closer until suddenly they're right by the PDA.]

WHO ARE YOU? YOU'RE BLUE! WHY ARE YOU BLUE?! [There's the sound of struggling.] PUT ME DOWN! PUT ME-

[Raven keeps her tone low.] I'm not going to hurt you. I'm here to help. Stop trying to pull away and, please, hush. [The girl grows quiet, sniffles once. There's the sound of breaking glass and Raven hisses in pain. The girl's voice sounds worried.]

You're bleeding!

[Raven gives a soft laugh that's clearly forced.] Just a little cut. I'll be fine. Now I want you to climb in and go up those stairs. Do you see them? You go right up those stairs to the roof. I'll be right behind you. Go!

[The groaning gets louder and the girl whimpers; there's some more shuffling before Raven exhales in relief, then begins muttering to herself.] Okay. You can do this. Just concentrate on being small and ignore the zo- [She gasps then cries out in obvious pain.] Sonofa-

[There's the sickening sound of tearing flesh and a soft gurgling followed by an audible thud of a body falling to the ground. The low groaning continues in the distance, the previous frenzy of starved zombies having passed without a viable living meal to keep it going.]

	Raven? [ voice sounds strangled, as if he knows what's happened but doesn't want to admit it to himself. ] Raven, what's going on? Speak to me. Tell me what's happening. Raven! (Reply to this)

( It's quiet for a moment, before there's a sharp, shocked sound. Then Charles speaks, very quietly as if he can't quite bring himself to acknowledge what he's hearing. )

Raven...?

( when there's no response, he speaks again, this time a panicked shout )

RAVEN!

( after a moment, very quietly )

No. No no no. This can't...this can't be happening...she can't...she just can't...

( there's a hard edge to the words, something dangerous, and then Charles laughs and it's a shocking bitter sound. as he continues to speak, the words are shaky as if he's trying desperately not to break down completely, punctuated by shuddering breaths )

You're sorry, Erik? What good does sorry do? Sorry doesn't bring Raven back! Sorry doesn't bring back Irene or Barbara or my sister back! I told her...I told her to be careful. I told her it wasn't safe. And now she's dead. And you're sorry.

	[ there's a long silence, just the sound of Erik breathing being heard on the other end of the line before he speaks up, his voice quiet and calm despite the tremble in it from his own sadness. ] No, Charles, I know sorry doesn't fix anything. Then don't say anything! All the sorrys in the world won't change a damn thing. They won't fix this. The only thing that will fix this...

( suddenly his tone is strangely calm )

There's only one thing that will fix this, Erik. And that's getting rid of those...things.

Erik, if I were you, I would make quite certain I was not only as near Charles as were possible right now but would also have on my person some of that rather remarkable blood that Mrs. Winchester is so kind to donate to the school on a regular basis. [a pause] Something tells me it's going to be needed very shortly and very, very quickly.

[River's voice takes on a sharp edge.] Don't you think I know that? Why do you think I told you to get the bloody syringe?! [a pause, she focuses on breathing calmly; her voice loses some of its edge]

Listen to me. There is no changing his mind. There is no convincing him otherwise. All you can do is attempt to save him once it's done. Believe me, if there is one thing I do know, it's a martyr. Particularly a powerful, angry, determined one at that. So make certain you're ready, focus on what you need to do to help him after the fact, and [another pause, she snorts]

Well, dear, then you give him a verbal lashing the likes of which I'm certain he's given you many times before when you've been the one doing ridiculously idiotic things in the heat of the moment.
