Hey all!

This is just a note to let everyone know that the plot ended at midnight tonight! We meant to post this sooner but real life got the better of us today, unfortunately. Sorry about that!

Anyway. So yes. The plot ended. For those characters who might not have noticed and went to sleep in the same bed with their 'temporary spouse', they will wake up in their own bed tomorrow morning instead. For those who might notice through some way, shape, or form, feel free to run with it and have them separate sooner rather than later.

We want to thank you all for making this plot the success it has been. We'll have the details of the next upcoming plot posted soon!

Plot Preperation Update

Okay! So, since the initial post about the upcoming New Years plot has already gotten over 170 comments and therefore is tricky to navigate, we decided to put up another one.

Please respond here if you do not have pairings for your characters so we can get the rest of the folks paired off before the plot starts! We know there are still some out there who either haven't been able to find anyone or who weren't able to get online yesterday to comment, and we don't want to leave anyone out!

Hey, everyone!

There's still a couple days left to the Gremlin plot, which will be ending Friday night, but we decided to go ahead and let you know about the New Year plot, since you'll need to plan for it a bit.

At midnight on New Year's Eve, characters will be kissing people to ring in 2012. Unfortunately, they will be stuck with whoever it is they kiss for two weeks. Now, this may not sound like a big deal, since most people will be kissing their significant others, right? Wrong. As part of this, characters will be kissing someone near them, but it won't be their significant other. We won't be assigning partners for this plot, but there are some guidelines. In many ways this will be like the marriage plot, but without partners being assigned. Behind the cut, you will find the rules and guidelines for this plot. It will affect everyone in the city, except children for the obvious reason.

This plot will begin at midnight on New Years Eve, and end at midnight on January 14. We hope you will have fun with it and that your characters will get a chance to meet new people.

Hey everyone!

We promised a Christmas plot and here it is. It won't actually begin until midnight Sunday, so Christmas itself will be unaffected, but it's still definitely a Christmas plot. As you know, the city's been experiencing classic Christmas movies the past few weeks, and now it's time for the most iconic Christmas movie of all time...

Gremlins!

Yes, there will be Gremlins in Colligo, from midnight on Christmas until New Year's Eve. This isn't going to be a very long plot, but we hope that it will be fun and entertaining. For those who are unfamiliar with the movie, information about it and Gremlins themselves can be found here and here. These will be Gremlins and not Mogwai, so they will be dangerous. Still, we hope that you will use this as an opportunity for black humour and shenanigans in the spirit of the film rather than making it too angsty or serious. People can, as always, be injured or even die, but don't overuse that.

Some things to remember.

  • If Gremlins get wet, it creates more Gremlins. The Collector has factored this in and all the snow will be vanishing just before the Gremlins arrive.
  • On that note, please don't post about Gremlins jumping into lakes or pools and spawning hundreds of new Gremlins. We as mods may indicate this at some point, but we want to avoid several people saying that and the city ending up with more Gremlins than there is square footage.
  • Gremlins are hurt by light and can be killed by sunlight. Keep this in mind when writing scenes. They'll only be outside at night.
  • Again, this is meant to be a fun plot, even with the element of danger. Try not to make it too terribly heavy.
  • There won't be too many Gremlins to start, since it's so easy for them to multiply, so feel free to have your characters not notice the first night, or to think the people who do notice are crazy or imagining things.
  • Just have fun with it.

The plot will run from midnight Christmas night, until midnight the night of December 30. Have fun with it.

EDITED TO ADD: Also, because we forgot to put this in the first time due to the craziness of the holidays, Santa did visit everyone over the night of Christmas Eve. He brought everyone one item from that character's reality that is personal in nature in some way. This can be a picture, pet (no humans, though, sorry Eric Northman!), or whatever else you might come up with. The item does not have to be mentioned in the character's canon but we do ask that it not be something ridiculous (like a helicopter or tank or something along those lines) and that it is something your character would ICly possess.

Alternatively, if you can't think of something specific from their reality that they might like, you can get them something related to their reality (for example: a small-scale model of The Normandy, for Shepard). Whichever you'd prefer.

All gifts will be found under the trees that Parker and Gabriel set up for the characters, or the ones already found in the X-Mansion and Sanctuary, clearly marked for the character in question and from Santa Claus. This is even for characters who are not Christian, so have fun with it and enjoy!

Hey everyone!

So, the holidays are fast approaching, and Colligo is getting in the holiday spirit. Or the holiday movie spirit. Remember those old Christmas specials? Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer? Santa Claus is Coming to Town? Frosty the Snowman? Jack Frost? How the Grinch Stole Christmas? The Nightmare Before Christmas? Okay...maybe not that last one. Anyway, the point is, those stories are coming to life in Colligo. Maybe your characters will build a snowman (or snowwoman) and it will come to life. Or maybe they'll run into Frosty himself. There will be reindeer in the city, and some of them will even talk. One even has a red nose. Be nice to him. He has to put up with a lot of crap. And be nice to the little elf named Hermey too. He's just not sure what he wants to do with his life. Be careful around the Abominable Snowman though, because he can get really angry. If your character runs into some broken down or messed up toys, they should have a conversation before throwing them out. They really just need someone to love them. Meanwhile, Jack Frost will be running around causing winter weather with Snip and Holly, and Santa himself will be getting gifts ready for everyone, with his penguin friend Topper...while a green guy in a Santa suit periodically steals decorations. And if you don't recognize at least some of these references, you have no heart (or possibly no television) and you make me sad.

There will be lots of snow, but it won't impact people's lives in a negative capacity. The city is really good at keeping its roads clear. Still, your character might slip on some ice, especially if they have a bad habit of being a mean person, so be careful. In the meantime, Christmas decorations are definitely up all around Colligo...even though the Grinch keeps stealing them. The mistletoe is harmless this year, so your characters can take comfort in the fact they won't be forced to kiss anyone. At least, not by magical forces. That could change of course.

On another note, we are doing a roll call. This is not an activity check, we just want to know who is around. So please reply with your list of characters by Saturday, December 17. If you do not reply, you will be removed from the game.

Hey guys!

So, the Soap Opera Plot is over. We'll have another plot for you in the next few days. Expect it to be sufficiently Christmasy. In the meantime, it is mid-December, so expect some light snow in the coming days and Christmas decorations going up. Santas in malls. Usual holiday fare. The decorations aren't malicious for now, but it's just something to comment on. Feel free to have your characters decorate their own stores or houses or do other holiday things, or not if they're mean, mean grinches.

A reminder: New characters who arrived during the Plot should now be freaking out over being in a strange new city, since the Plot kept them from doing so.

Also: Please comment here if you need your character's name changed on the taken list, contact list and tags for reasons relating to marriage or other changes in name.

Otherwise, feel free to have characters be really confused about their behavior over the past two weeks.

Hey everyone!

Have your characters enjoyed their break from the insanity that constantly plagues Colligo? Good. Because they're getting some more in the form of the Collector bringing back an old plot that most of our players seemed to like the first time around.

Soap Opera Plot!

Yes, starting tomorrow night at midnight (Saturday night going into Sunday), the city of Colligo is going to get a huge boost of drama as characters start behaving like they're part of a Soap Opera. Unlike some plots, this one will focus on the interpersonal relationships and conflicts in the city, rather than any sort of external force. Characters might behave in ways they never would otherwise, but nobody will notice anything wrong or think anything is out of the ordinary.

So embrace the drama and have your characters do things they never would under normal circumstances. This is meant to be a fun, zany plot where characters can do crazy things that will leave them wondering what the heck they were thinking when they're back to normal. Drama will, of course, play a roll in this, but don't go too over the top with it. We want this to be fun.

The plot will run for two weeks, ending at midnight on Saturday, December 10, at which time some festive Christmas plots will commence. In the meantime, be creative and have fun with this.

Hey everyone!

Just a quick note to remind you that the AU plot will be ending tonight at midnight, so finish up any AU shenanigans you need to get done. Threads and logs can obviously be backdated, but network stuff will need to end at midnight. We will have the next plot starting up in the next couple days, along with a schedule of plots to carry us through until the start of the new year.

As for the Glitch Plot, we have decided not to end it. As it's more of a background plot and minor annoyance, we are going to go ahead and carry it through until the start of the year. So continue to enjoy having your characters' PDAs ruin their lives in little ways.

Hey everyone.

Just a reminder, the Halloween plot is ending tonight at midnight. But fear not. There is a new plot starting at midnight. Two plots actually. Both are old staples. At midnight, we'll be starting the AU Plot and the Glitch Plot
  • AU PLOT - What if your character made a different choice? What if they turned left instead of right? What if they took a different path? This is an opportunity to explore a different side of your character, one they might not have taken. Or you could simply take them back to an earlier point or explore a hypothetical future. Your options are virtually unlimited.

    Basically, characters will be turning into alternate versions of themselves. These can be either canon AUs (Supernatural characters from My Heart Will Go On, Heroes characters from Five Years Gone or I Am Become Death, Buffyverse characters from The Wish, etc.) or AUs that players create for themselves. They can also come from a Colligo future if you wish, as that is technically just a possible future and not etched in stone.

    Characters do not have to become AU immediately, or stay changed the whole time. They also do not have to have just one AU over the course of the two weeks. They can change to a different AU. Just have fun with it.

  • GLITCH PLOT - The PDAs are once again making people's lives more difficult, whether by (in)conveniently disregarding filters so that private posts become public, sending messages to the wrong people, "accidentally" mass-texting everyone in Colligo, throwing in interesting autocorrections, voiceposting things that other people really don't need to hear or any other problems you can think of.

    A full explanation of the different ways a PDA can glitch can be found here. Feel free to be as creative as you like. We have the utmost faith in your ability to make your characters' lives difficult.

Both plots will begin at midnight and end on November 20, at midnight EST. As always, with plots where there is potential for characters to be hurt or killed (as we're all prone to viciousness when the mood strikes), they must stay dead for the remainder of the plot unless there is an immediate way plotted out to resurrect them. Other than that, just have fun with it.

Hey everyone!

The Mods here, with information regarding the Halloween plot! This plot will begin at midnight, Monday night (October 31) going into Tuesday (November 1) and will end at midnight the following Sunday night (November 6) going into Monday (November 7).

• Along with trick-or-treating for the younger crowds (and those who might be taking the younger crowds out), there will also be a costume party on Monday night. This is being thrown by Gabriel, the resident Archangel, at the nightclub The Serpent's Den that he just inherited from AJ Crowley.

• Come midnight anyone who is in costume - whether they are at the party, at home and simply asleep with their costume on, walking down the street, whatever - will turn into their costume for the remainder of the plot. This means they will actually think they are whatever it is they dressed as for Halloween. So if your character is dressed as a pirate, they are going to think, and behave, as though they are a pirate until the plot ends.

• The only exception to this are if your character dressed as some sort of inanimate object. Obviously, if they are dressed as an M&M or a fire hydrant, they won't physically become these things. However, they can and will become animals if they opt to dress as a cat or shark or something.

• If there are characters who opt to dress as bad guys/pschos/monsters/etc., they can feel free to kill, maim, and/or attack as many locals as they'd like. Please make sure you have full player permission before doing the same to any played character, though, and keep in mind if you opt to have your character killed off by someone dressed as Michael Myers, they will stay dead until the plot ends.

• Feel free to have fun with this plot but do keep in mind that no characters will turn back to themselves until it ends.

So! To recap: If your character is in costume at midnight on Halloween, they are going to become that costume. If they die, they're dead until it's over. If they kill people, they'll be killing people until it's over. If you don't want them to become their costume but still want them to participate in the party and various other Halloween-themed events in the city, dress them as something that isn't living. Or feel free to have them out of costume by midnight, when the change occurs. That works too.

Hey guys!

So, tonight at midnight, all powers will be going away. But never fear, citizens of Colligo. Characters will be getting new powers to compensate. These powers are amazing! They're phenomenal! They're...okay, they're pretty useless. Still, it's better than nothing, right. After all, who wouldn't want the power to make perfect tea every time? Or to turn things fuchsia just by touching them (I'm looking at you, Erik Lehnsherr)? The point is that, while they may not help you fight crime, these powers have the potential to be fun and entertaining.
  • Not all characters have to receive powers. Just decide based on which characters you want to deal with useless or annoying powers.
  • Characters will receive messages on their PDAs informing them of their loss of their regular powers (so that people like Claire and Jack don't get themselves killed five minutes in), as well as telling them what their new power is (or in the case of regular people who have never had powers, their first ever superpower).
  • All regular powers are going away. All of them. While physiological differences in other races (two hearts in Time Lords for example) will remain the same, powers will go away. So the Doctor won't become human, but he will lose some of that temporal awareness and he won't be able to regenerate. He will, however, be able to turn any tie he touches into a bowtie.
  • Though regular powers will be gone, this will not negatively impact characters. Claire won't be able to heal, but she won't lose her immune system as she would in canon. Though Helen's longevity will be gone, she won't suddenly age. Any possible negative affects simply won't occur.
  • Some examples of useless superpowers can be found here and here. You can also make up your own. But do keep in mind that these powers are meant to be useless. They can help out with little things like papercuts or making toast, but they're mostly meant to be ridiculous.
  • All affects of the plot will revert to normal after the plot is done. So if your character has turned everything in their apartment retro by touching it, never fear! It won't be that way forever.

The plot will end Friday night at midnight. So in the meantime, have fun coming up with silly, useless powers for your characters and just enjoy the plot.

Hey, everyone!

At midnight the city will once again be throwing a curveball at its residents. Characters will be forced to deal with their fears, as they will be taking tangible forms. From midnight tonight until midnight on October 21, whatever things scare your characters the most will be in the city. Here are some things to keep in mind when dealing with this plot.

  • Fears should be concrete rather than conceptual. In other words, fears must be something that can have a physical representation. If your character is afraid of being alone, that can't really be expressed in a physical form. Other people aren't going to vanish. If they're afraid of spiders or flying monkeys or their father, that will appear in the city. This isn't to say that all conceptual fears can't have concrete manifestations. Someone who is deeply afraid of failure might see someone who they care for and respect, telling them that they are useless and terrible and won't amount to anything.

  • Fears cannot manifest as someone who is already in the city. So if one of Jack's fears, for example, is the Master, the player will need to choose another fear to focus on as he is in the city. Likewise, if Stephanie fears being a disappointment, it can't be Barbara Gordon she sees berating her. It would have to be someone else, like Bruce Wayne or her mother. We just don't want any confusion between characters and versions of them manifested by fears, so this should be avoided.

  • Fears are not intangible. They can physically interact with people. Likewise, they can physically injure or even kill characters. However, we ask that players be realistic about this, and also keep in mind the dates of the plot. Characters who die will not come back until the plot is done. So don't kill off your only character on the 12th and then get upset because you don't have anything to do until the plot is over. However, if you want to kill a character and immediately bring them back through some IC means (healing, Claire's blood, angels, etc.), that is acceptable.

  • Everyone can see these manifestations, not just the people they pertain to. If Parker's fear causes giant horses to appear, she isn't going to be the only one who sees the horses. Similarly, the manifestations will not solely interact with the person they are associated with. If Dean is afraid of hell hounds, that doesn't mean that hell hounds will only attack Dean. They can hurt or kill anyone. We do ask that you check with the player whose character's fear it is before having them do anything too serious to your character.

  • Fears will only disappear from the city permanently when they are dealt with by the character who is afraid of them. They can be temporarily dealt with by another character, but they will come back. So if there are spiders in the city, anyone can squish them but only the character who is actually afraid of them can get rid of them. If two characters have the same fear, they will both need to deal with it.

  • Dealing with a fear doesn't always mean killing it. It can be as simple as the character standing up to someone who intimidates them. As fun as punching a fear in the face can be, really consider how your characters should deal with their particular fears.

  • Not everyone will have a fear. Some characters simply don't have anything that really scares them, or they have a fear that cannot manifest in a concrete form. That's perfectly fine. Not everyone needs to be affected by the plot. Other characters might have more than one fear. This is also fine. They can deal with both fears if you want. But these should be major fears, not minor ones.

  • Characters' fears do not need to be constantly present. They can come and go to bother the character when you want without constantly giving them trouble for the whole plot. This way, you can focus on one character's fear without having to deal with all your characters' issues constantly.

  • Players ultimately do not have to have their characters actually deal with their fears, if they do not feel it is something the character could actually accomplish. If they would rather, the fears can disappear when the plot ends without ever having been dealt with by the character. It is entirely up to the players.

Hey everyone!

The Wild West plot will be ending Friday night at midnight and we just wanted to give you all a quick rundown of the plots for the rest of the month, so you all as players can plan things out. We'll give actual details at the beginning of each plot, but you can get an idea of what the plots will entail by looking at the voting post where we outlined the potential plots.
  • October 10-21 - Nightmare Plot
  • October 24-28 - Useless Superpowers Plot
  • October 31 - November 6 - Halloween Plot
Each plot will begin at midnight going into the first day and finish at midnight coming out of the last day. There will be a detailed explanation of each before it starts. We just wanted to give you an idea of what's coming up since October is a very full month plot-wise. As always, if you have any questions or comments, feel free to contact us.

Rejoice, Colligoans! At midnight, your characters' memories will be returned to them and they will once again be fully aware of who they are, what they do, and where (and who) they belong with. Feel free to have them express their collective embarrassment over whatever inappropriate shenanigans that they might have gotten up to during the amnesia plot, but they might be a bit preoccupied with realizing that they entire city has changed around them overnight.

Instead of the thriving metropolis that everyone is used to, Colligo has become a town which looks as though it was pulled straight out the American Old West or any number of cowboy movies that have been made over the years. The locals, obviously, have no idea that anything has changed and are quite happy to go on living their lives as though they've always lived their lives like this. Because, to them, this is how it's always been.

There are a few essential changes to the city that the non-locals will notice:
  • Buildings have changed to be more era appropriate. The apartments, for example, have become sort of old time inns. Bars will become saloons and clubs might become card halls or brothels. The Colligo Police Department is now the office of Sheriff Danny Williams and his posse.

  • Characters' businesses will become period appropriate as well. It's really up to you all as players what your characters' businesses have become. Just keep it reasonably true to the time period.

  • All vehicles are now horses or horse-drawn carriages. A character's personal vehicle will be changing into whatever suits its original form. For example, a fancier car just might turn into a carriage drawn by multiple horses while a motorcycle may become just one horse. Likewise, the city's monorail system is now trains, and there are stations around the area.

  • All clothing has become appropriate to the era. Which, yes, ladies, this most likely means your wardrobe is filled with frilly, awfully decorated dresses. Don't feel obligated to wear them, though, if it's not your character's style. Feel free to snag a pair of britches from one of the guys and defy cultural standards. Some people might also find that the clothing they end up with is less historically accurate and more Hollywood Western. Wild Wild West, anyone?

  • The PDAs and network still function, but they are the only modern technology in the city. As players, we're asking you to suspend your disbelief, but the characters are welcome to be a bit WTF? about having a network when they're in the old west.

  • The locals, as usual, won't notice anything wrong. In fact, they too will be changed to suit the period. So expect a few more outlaws and some gruff farmers/saloon girls/other people you might expect in a Western.

Hey everyone!

Voting is done and Tabula Rasa has won out. We will still be using the other plots coming up, but we'll be starting with this one as it got the most votes.

Starting at midnight all characters will have absolutely no memory of who they are. They will pass out suddenly wherever they are and when they wake up they will have no memories. You don't have to have them pass out at home, and in fact we encourage you to be creative in terms of where they are and who they're with. If you've seen the Buffy episode Tabula Rasa, then you have some idea of the things people can wrongly decide about their lives. Maybe two friends will wake up together and assume they're a couple. Maybe the X-Mansion will all decide they're trapped in a government experiment. Get creative with this and have fun.

In terms of personal memory, characters will be completely blank slates. This won't effect their personalities, they aren't becoming pod people. They also won't be forgetting facts. They'll still be able to math and define what iambic pentameter is (unless they couldn't before this). But they won't remember anything about their lives. In addition anything that would tell them who they are is gone. Photographs aren't around, nameplates are gone from the apartments, and the PDAs no longer have the characters' names. Likewise, all backlogs of the network are inaccessible, so that people can't simply look back to find out about themselves. Anything that would identify them is absent.

All characters will maintain their abilities, but they won't know that they do and they won't necessarily have the same level of control they usually do since they're not aware of their powers. The same goes for skills. If someone has years of ninja training, or can pick a lock in four seconds, they'll still be able to do so. They just won't know that they can. This does have potential to be both interesting and destructive, given some characters are rather powerful, so please be responsible and realistic when dealing with this aspect of the memory loss. Try not to have your character destroy half the city or immediately go and break out of their apartment through a ventilation shaft even though they shouldn't know they can do that.

Hey everyone!

So we have some ideas for new plots, but we wanted to give you guys some input since you've been so great with plots in the past. So here's some of the plot ideas we've had, and we want you guys to rank them in order from which you'd most like to see to which you'd least like to see. This will help us decide the next few plots for the game. We do have a set plot planned for Halloween, but other than that we're open.
1. Wild Wild West. Colligo is going back in time to the old west. So go to the saloon and get yourself a drink. Saddle up a horse and get your posse together. That guy at work who keeps stealing your stapler? Challenge him to a gunfight. Just don't cheat at cards or you might get shot. Basically everything is reverting to the Hollywood idea of the wild west. Bars might become saloons or brothels. The law enforcement is now the sheriff and his men and all the tech is gone. Everyone has to adapt to the crazy as best they can.
2. Nightmares. Everyone has things they're scared of. Things that really freak them out. Maybe your character is afraid of spiders. Maybe it's clowns. Maybe they have a crippling fear of Big Bird. Whatever it is, it's going to take tangible form. These aren't hallucinations. This stuff will actually be around. So if you aren't afraid of ponies, you might be wondering why someone's running down the street screaming from one. Or maybe you're confused as to why an emu is in your living room. Be freaked out by your own fears or amused by those of others.
3. AU Plot. An old standard. What if your character made a different choice? What if they turned left instead of right? What if they took a different path? This is an opportunity to explore a different side of your character, one they might not have taken. Or you could simply take them back to an earlier point or explore a hypothetical future. Your options are virtually unlimited.
4. Everybody has a (Useless) Superpower. All the powers in the city are gone, but that's okay because everyone in the city has a brand new power of their own. The only catch is that power is useless or ridiculous. So maybe your character can no longer fly, but not to worry. Now they will never again have to worry about getting a papercut. Characters can now perform such heroic feats as...making perfect toast every time. They can turn invisible...in the dark. They can turn everything they touch a fantastic shade of magenta (Psst...speak to Erik Lehnsherr. He has some suits for you to look at.) or read...their own mind.
5. Tabula Rasa. Everyone wakes up...with no idea who they are. Their memories are gone and they're left in a state of confusions. Couples might wake up in separate places. Two friends might wake up together and assume the wrong thing. Basically it's the worst morning after ever, without the night before. They might decide (wrong) things about themselves based on their environment. Someone in the city who looks like them? Well they obviously have a twin! Have at it. Have your characters assume they want and create new identities. Maybe they'll even make some new connections that will last after the plot is done.
6. Glitch Plot. Yes, this one was recent, but it seemed like everyone had fun so we figured we could offer it up. Or it could even coincide with another plot. The PDAs are glitching, causing messages to be sent to the wrong people or filters to fail. It may even "help" by autocorrecting messages or mass-texting messages. Or it could voice post conversations. Anything is possible.

So just pick the ones you like, and fill out the following and comment. And if you have your own ideas for plots, feel free to tell us those too. We'll happily consider them as well.

Hello, everyone! We're going ahead and moving this plot forward a little to allow for more serious confessions in addition to the light-hearted ones. Though this plot is mandatory in the sense that all characters are affected, in the vein of the honesty plot, how it affects characters is entirely up to you as the players.

• Just because we're bringing in more serious confessions, this does not mean that the light-hearted ones can't also factor in to the situation. Characters can still have moments where one person admits to not actually liking another's haircut, even though they said they did, or to drinking the last of the milk. We just have the sense that players are looking forward to the opportunity for more serious confessions and want to allow for that at this time.

• Unlike the honesty plot, this isn't the characters feeling compelled to be honest about everything or having to answer questions honesty. Characters can hold stuff in or even lie about things, but there will be a definite sense of guilt associated with keeping things in. What they're keeping in could be guilt over having done something, such as stealing twenty dollars from their friend's wallet because they were short on money, or it could be their real feelings on a subject, like one person telling another that they feel like their friend never listens.

• Though the plot is mandatory and all characters are going to feel compulsions toward telling the truth about the things they've done or how they feel, whether or not they give in to that feeling to fess up to things is really based on the their own will-power. For example, someone who typically keeps their feelings bottled up might not actually give in to the compulsion, whereas someone who has trouble keeping things behind a filter will be much more likely to share their real thoughts. In other words, John Gilbert is pretty good at keeping things to himself. He won't necessarily tell someone the truth even with the compulsion. Stephanie Brown, on the other hand, can't filter herself on the best of days, so she's much more likely to give in to that compulsion.

• Characters also don't necessarily have to confess things to the person directly involved either. If Kitty accidentally ruined a pair of Rogue's gloves, she doesn't have to admit that to Rogue. She can let it slip to Forge, or even to a random local she runs into at the University. Similarly, if Lily is feeling like James takes her for granted, she doesn't have to let him know that. She can tell any of her friends. If you want something to be addressed, but worry about how it could impact the relationship between two characters, you can always use a third party for that sort of catharsis.

• Not all posts need to include these sorts of confessions, obviously. Though people are affected, there will always be other things for them to do and talk about, and their confessions will likely make up a comparatively small portion of the things they say. Though Sirius Black probably has quite a bit to confess to, not every word out of his mouth has to be a confession of something he's done. It's all about balance, and what works best for your characters. If they never want to post about those things, they do not necessarily have to.

We hope that this clears up any confusion regarding the nature of the confessions, and how the characters are affected, and we hope you enjoy this opportunity for your characters to deal with the more serious issues they've possibly been avoiding. Howdy folks! As there seem to be a few questions and concerns about the current plot taking place in the game, we thought we'd take a minute to elaborate on a few things.

• While this plot is something that is going to affect all characters, as mods we are not saying you, as players, have to force your characters to admit things that might cause issue for them that you don't want them to deal with. As with all of our 'mandatory' plots, we are not going to beat you to death with a shovel if you don't have your character confess they cheated on their spouse, have undying love for a pigeon, or whatever else you might come up with. Yes, characters will feel the urge to confess things but we always, always, always leave it up to you, as players, to decide the extent of what is confessed and to whom.

• The current extent of the 'confessions' are minor things. Little, inconsequential confessions such as a character admitting that when they told another character (or a local) that their hair looked nice last Tuesday, they were actually lying. Or, for example, if one roommate put the milk back in the fridge when it was empty, they might feel the urge to admit such a thing. This is meant to be light-hearted and to offer the characters things to post/do without causing major drama in their lives. Have fun with it!

• Please note that this does not mean characters have to confess these lighter things to the other character (or local) in question. They could confess it to a different character entirely, to an animal, plant, whatever you, as their player, would like to do. They also don't have to confess every little thing every time they turn around, either. Obviously we hope some of you will take advantage and have some of your characters in awkward positions but, once again, we do not want you to feel obligated to cause detriment to your characters solely for amusement purposes unless you want to do so.

• When the plot becomes more serious, we will update further on what all of that entails. We can't really elaborate too much now because, honestly, we're all three still recovering from Dragon*Con and haven't had the chance to work out the specifics for the heavier stuff. However, once again, we are not going to force anyone to do or say anything with their characters that they aren't comfortable doing. Much like with the 'honesty plot' we had a while back, this is up to your discretion. Yes, the characters will feel the urge to get things off their chest but we aren't going to be dictating what those things necessarily have to be.

The point is, we really do want this to just be a fun plot. Yes, it is 'mandatory' in that it will affect all characters but we are not going to be kicking people out of the game or beating them with blunt objects if their characters aren't announcing deep, dark secrets to anyone who will listen. Just look at this as a way to further SLs, develop new ones, and, as always, if you have any questions/comments/concerns/suggestions, feel free to contact us!

Hey everyone!

With the locals going back to normal, a bit of a respite from the worst of the insanity would be nice for the residents. And while they are going to be getting one, for the most part, they're also going to be getting something that Asaph hopes will push them to grow as individuals and get past the sort of traumas they might have suffered and yet feel reluctant to talk about.

Starting at midnight, the Collector is going to be playing therapist from afar by influencing all of his captives to talk to each other about things that they might not otherwise. Whatever might be bothering them, either about themselves or another individual, or whatever lies they might have told being cleared, anything that they wouldn't otherwise say is up for being aired out.

Knowing that throwing them headlong into things isn't necessarily the best way to deal with a situation, though, the Collector has decided to start the confessions out start out small and trivial. Be it the fact that they drank the last of the milk and put the carton back in the fridge, ate that apple their roommate was saving, accidentally scratched their best friend's favorite AC/DC record, or whatever little misstep they've made either recently or in the past, the residents are going to feel compelled to fess up to whomever they might have wronged.

The things addressed at first will all be small, barely noticeable, and the residents might not even realize that anything is different. Especially not at first.

Eventually, as with all things in Colligo, the confessions will become more intense. So make sure to keep an eye out for a mod post in the next few days announcing when that will happen. In the meantime, have fun with the lighter side of this plot and, as always, if you have any questions/comments/etc. feel free to ask! And, as always, enjoy yourselves and have some fun with this.

Hello all! We're baaaaack! Yes, Dragon*Con was awesome and I am sure you all will hear wonderful, wonderful stories about our adventures. However, as we have had about 6 hours of sleep, combined, since Thursday night, there is every possibility we will not be around very much until tomorrow. Or possibly the next day.

In the interim, the current plot in the game will end at midnight tonight. (That is in two hours for anyone who is on EST.) At midnight, all the locals will immediately stop their rioting/attacking/rude behavior and simply go back to their normal way of acting as though nothing happened. If prompted about their behavior recently, they'll have no real reason for doing what they did and their memories of everything will be a bit fuzzy, almost as though it was simply something they dreamed.

Please note that, as usual, the locals are from all walks of life, so the ones who are criminals/naturally violent in general will not suddenly become friendly, helpful members of society. But those who normally don't act that way and who only did for this plot (as in, the majority of the inhabitants) will stop.

We want to thank you all for making this plot such a success and will have information for the next, upcoming plot posted within the next day or so. Hey everyone!

Once again, things are kicking up a notch with the reaction of locals to non-locals. There are more violet reactions and now groups of locals will be picking fights with non-locals. This is verging on rioting, and even moving into that territory outright. Locals will be actively trying to cause trouble for non-locals, boycotting their businesses and refusing to sell to them or do businesses with them. The locals in the police, as implied by this post, will be blatantly favoring the locals in disputes and siding with them. Non-locals may get into trouble for things that aren't their fault, and Colligo as a whole is just taking on a decidedly unwelcoming climate, as the locals continue to make their distaste known. Things are getting to be really dangerous, and characters will be facing a good deal of trouble. It's really gotten to the point where it can't be written off and it's very obvious that the locals, on the whole, are pitting themselves against the non-locals. As always, just remember to keep things realistic and have fun with it.

Hey everyone!

So the locals have been grumpy for a few days, and now things are stepping up a little. They still aren't rioting in the streets or ganging up on people or picketing in protest of the existence of non-locals, but they are being a little more overt. Individual confrontations may be more violent, and there are definitely going to be more physical conflicts. Stores run by locals may discourage non-locals from shopping or outright refuse to sell to them. Similarly, locals may refuse to do business in non-local shops. Characters employed by locals may find themselves having difficulty at work, or they might even be fired. Remember to keep things realistic, but have fun with it and be creative. Hello all! The Mods here with information on the brand new plot we're starting right... well, now, actually. This is one of those plots that will affect everyone in the city so please make sure to read this post carefully and, of course, if you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Basically? The natives are getting restless. Which means that the locals are getting a little sick of their city getting messed up by all these non-locals. Therefore, over the next few days, the locals are going to start being far less polite, much, much ruder, and those with violent tendencies (such as the criminal sort) will become more prone to violent reactions that seem a little more extreme than really necessary. As far as that last one goes, please have these things happen very sparingly as, again, this is a progressive situation.

Please note that the locals will, however, act perfectly normal toward other locals. This is just a reaction they are all having toward the characters in the city. Also, as stated, this is a gradual thing. So please do not immediately have riots occurring in the streets or people being beaten up by CEOs and locals in law enforcement or anything. Mostly it's just rude reactions and downright unfriendly behaviors all around.

We will update here in a few days with more things that the locals are going to be doing in an effort to get non-locals out of the city. For now, keep it fairly mild but feel free to have characters note that things are different.

Hey everyone!

This is just a note to let everyone know that the age plot will be ending tonight at midnight. All characters who are still a different age will be changing back at that time. If you still have threads you need to do, they can be backdated, but all network and comm activity should be put up before midnight. If you have a reason you want to keep your character at their new age permanently, talk to us and we will most likely allow it. Similarly, if there is a secondary effect you wish to accompany your character returning to their normal age (i.e. - Lisa Braeden regaining her memories when she ages back up), you should also speak to us to have that happen. Children who have been aged up (such as Jack, Meri and Caden Winchester) will remain aged up but will no longer post with their PDAs as they are NPCs. Their players can, however, have them use their parents' PDAs sparingly to react to situations that affect them.

There is another plot coming up soon, and we will be giving the details about that plot soon. Thank you for making this plot as fun and entertaining as it has been.

Hell all! The mods here, with a couple quick things.

First up, as we mentioned earlier, the Christmas In July plot is starting to wind to a close. Over the next few days, the temperatures are going to start rising and the snow is going to melt. The decorations will slowly start being taken down in shops and Christmas music will stop. This is going to happen gradually but all of it will be gone entirely by August 1st.

It's also time for a new plot! Starting at midnight tonight, characters are going to start changing ages. Whether they get older or younger is up to you. You can even age them up for a bit then age them down for a while, or vice versa. The plot is fairly lax in that regard and, as always, you don't have to participate at all if you'd rather not. However, we do have a few rules to go with whichever option you choose.

Hey all!

So, after a couple days of snow and Christmas music, more little changes are happening in our fair city. Christmas decorations are showing up in stores and around the town. There are lights and wreaths and various other pretty things to notice. In addition, there are life-sized gingerbread houses in the park, courtesy of our resident archangel-slash-trickster. Still, the decorations aren't all harmless.

That's right. The evil mistletoe has returned. Be afraid. Be very afraid. As with before, the city's mistletoe is rather...aggressive. People standing/sitting/yoga-ing under the mistletoe will be compelled to kiss whoever is with them. It might be a chaste peck or a full on snog. You never know what will happen. The feeling will fade once they've kissed, but it does promise to be awkward for all.

Also, each apartment (and each room in other places like the Roadhouse and the X-Mansion), will be finding a gingerbread house outside their door in the morning. There won't be a note or any indication of who it's from, or anything like that. Just a gingerbread house. Again, these are a gift from Gabriel. They are absolutely harmless, and will not negatively affect your character at all, but feel free to have your character be paranoid and freak out.

There are also going to be carollers going around the city and singing, as well as Salvation army people armed with bells collecting donation. And the mall has a Santa. It's almost as if the city thinks it's Christmas. And by almost, we mean totally.

As always, please remember that the deadline for requesting gifts is July 24, so please do so here.

Edit: Also, there's Hanukkah stuff. Including a giant menorah in the park, Kitty.

Hey! Hey guys! Guess what!

IT'S CHRISTMAS IN JULY!

That's right. To make up for the fact that actual Christmas pretty much consisted of a bunch of metal death spheres flying around slicing people up and setting Christmas trees on fire, the Collector is giving the city a second, invasion-free Christmas. Because he's nice and Morgan Freeman-y like that. Don't you think Morgan Freeman would give everyone a second Christmas? The answer is yes, yes he would.

The temperature is going to drop overnight, and starting tomorrow afternoon there will be snow. The lake in the park is going to freeze over completely (don't worry about the giant squid, the Collector has sent him somewhere warm on the planet for a vacation during this) and it will generally be wintery. In the coming days, Christmas music is going to start playing on radio stations.

In a few days, we'll give an update, with more Christmasy developments. Also, please make sure you've responded to this post by July 24 if you want your characters to receive gifts. If you're stuck on what to put for your characters, feel free to talk to us. And remember that it doesn't need to be anything huge. It can just be something they like.

Have fun with this, and we hope it'll be a simple, light-hearted plot.

Upcoming Plot

Hello all! The mods here, with a bit of news. As most of you probably realize, the current plot will be coming to an end at midnight on Friday, July 15th. That night/into the next morning, a new plot will begin but don't worry! This one should be fun for all.

CHRISTMAS IN JULY!!!

That's right! The Collector has decided, since everyone has been such good sports of all of the crazy being thrown at them lately, that they deserve a gift. So he's going to work his magic and get everybody presents! And this time, there won't be any invasion to follow, either. Hopefully.

For the time being, all we need from you is the following information:



Just fill out that form, for each of your characters, listing three items that you would like them to possibly receive. We'll be the ones to do the ultimate choosing of which they receive, and when, as we will be spreading them out over a two week period much like we did in December.

More information will likely follow but for now just know that the item does not have to be something from their character's reality. As items from home are showing up more and more on their own in the city, we don't feel right making the Christmas gifts so limiting. So feel free to have them ask for anything both in the city or outside of it - whatever you think they might enjoy most, free of charge, without any effort on their part to obtain it.

Hey all.

Just a quick note. We've finally finished working up an Occupation List, which can be found here. Go check it out and make sure all your characters are listed. If any aren't, please respond with the form at the bottom to have your characters added. Please note that, unless characters don't require the normal necessities of life, or have some power that allows them to provide for themselves, most people do need jobs. While housing in the main housing and the dorms, tuition at the college, drinks at the Roadhouse, and medical treatment at the Clinic are free, most things in the city are not. If nothing else, most folks will need to eat. One hundred dollars won't go far for most people, so just keep this in mind.

Also, we've added a housing post for those no longer living in the apartments. It can be found here. As with any other housing, make requests in the main housing post. If there is a place that needs to be added, make a note. It may take a few days for new buildings to be added, so please be patient. This is not limited to buildings from people's home realities. Those with the resources can simply move into new houses or apartments. This, however, will not have the same rent-free situation as the apartments. Those living in alternative housing from their home realities will not have to pay taxes or rent, but they will have utility payments, so it's still more costly than living in the apartments or dorms.

New Plot

Hey, everyone.

As we said yesterday, the Glitch plot ends at midnight tonight. Also, at midnight a new plot will be starting that will last for two weeks. We don't really have a clever name for this plot, but we think it will be a good opportunity for characters to branch out and interact with people with whom they might not otherwise.
Basically for the next two weeks, nobody will be able to interact with anyone from their fandom. They won't be able to see or hear them in them in person. So, if Alaric and Damon are in a room together, they won't actually be aware of each other or able to interact. But if Parker's there, she'll be able to see both of them and talk to both of them. They just won't be able to deal with each other at all. So Ric would hear the things Parker says, but not Damon's responses. Similarly, they won't be able to contact one another electronically, receive any messages from one another, or see anything posted by canon-mates on the network. They also cannot communicate via notes, smoke signals, interpretive dance, shadow puppets or carrier pigeons (sorry, Tesla). Or anything else you guys can think of. They are simply persona non grata to each other. Their names will still be on the plaques and their things will be there, so it's clear they're not gone from the city, but they can't interact.

For two weeks, everyone will be cut off completely from their canon-mates. They'll still be able to interact with anyone else they know in the city, but anyone from their own fandom is off-limits. This extends to entire fandoms. So even though Rogue and Loki never interacted within their own canons, they're both from the Marvel universe and would not be able to see or talk to one another. Similarly, characters from Doctor Who and Torchwood would not be able to interact, nor would John Constantine and Dream, whose fandoms coexist with Vertigo comics. They can check on one another through non-fandom third parties, but we ask that this be kept to a minimum. If we feel like characters are abusing this, we will talk to the players about it.

This extends to children, because we feel the children in the game (Grace, Mordred and Maggie) have formed enough connections to be able to be played without interacting with their guardians. Children born in game, as they don't have a set fandom and are too young to feasibly be separated from their parents (Abigail Pendragon, Jack and Meredith Winchester, Elspeth Pond, and Caden Winchester), will be unaffected. NPCs (such as Jaenelle's Warlord Princes) will likewise be unaffected.

To some degree, it will be as if people who cohabitate with canon-mates are existing in parallel versions of reality, where they are unable to be aware of the actions of others. So if James is showering or reading a book, or making tea, Lily will not hear the shower or see a book hovering in the air, or find random tea. They're completely removed from one another. (It'll be sort of like that episode of Buffy when Willow came back to Sunnydale and couldn't interact with anyone because none of them realized she was there and vice versa.) Seriously though, this is not the weirdest stuff to ever happen in Colligo. (Soap Opera Plot, anyone? Sex Water? Gremli...oh wait, that hasn't happened yet. Pay no attention.)

Those with abilities that allow them to sense or locate others or communicate in other ways (Molly Suresh, Charles Xavier, Peter Petrelli, etc.) would also not be able to use their abilities. And items like the Marauders' Map and two-way mirrors, or other items that would locate people, won't give their locations.

The plot, as mentioned before, will run two weeks, ending at midnight on Friday, July 15. Hopefully this will prove an interesting challenge for characters within the game and a fun experiment for the players.

Edit: As it has been pointed out that the plot is set to end mid-full moon, werewolf characters won't have the effect end until they turn back to human form.

Hello all! The mods here with a few quick announcements.

• As the month of June draws to an end, so does the current plot. The Glitch Plot will officially end at midnight tomorrow night (June 30th, heading into July 1st). At that point, all fail!filters/DYAC/mass!texting/etc. will cease and the PDAs will begin to function normally once more.

• At the same time that plot ends, another will begin. We will have more specifics on this tomorrow so keep an eye on your friends' page!

• We wanted to take a second to remind people that the locals, while certainly capable of being 'turned off' if asked the correct questions, are still very much functional people. They aren't wholly incompetent nor are they slow-witted. They actually keep the bulk of the city running and range in personality and employment just like citizens of any other city.

• We have recently changed the added note in the acceptance message that covers the damage done to the city following the Christmas Invasion. There is still damage to be found but there is clear progress being made in the rebuilding process, so feel free to have your characters take note (or not) if you'd like!

Hello, everyone!

We know you probably weren't expecting something new so soon after the last plot, but we can't help astronomical phenomena. Tomorrow night is the full moon, and it's also a lunar eclipse. As such, werewolf characters will be affected a bit differently this month. All werewolves will be transforming this full moon, and that transformation will last three nights. They will also remain in their wolf state during the day, not turning back into human form So Wednesday night through Saturday morning, all werewolf characters will be transformed. Those werewolves with control will begin with control of their minds, but will devolve into a more animalistic, feral mindset as the days go on.

So people who play werewolves, feel free to have them take over the park and eat locals or something. If your characters are close with werewolf characters, they're welcome to interact once this starts, and worry about their friends. Feel free to plot amongst yourselves. Try not to have everyone eaten by werewolves.

So, just to reiterate, werewolves will be changing Wednesday evening, at 8 pm, and will be turning human again Saturday at sunrise.

Update: Glory

Hello, everyone!

Just an update from the mods on the situation with Glory.

Glory will be dying tomorrow. Aziraphale will be fighting her, as he is the only character in game who posses a weapon forged by God. He did not get involved before now because he had to wait until a human asked him to be involved (given a general policy of non-interference in human matters from the heavenly sect).

Anyone who wants their characters to be involved in a fight against Glory's minions and non-locals can respond to a post from Faith here. They will be fighting the groups of Glory's minions both to keep Glory from having anyone to brain-drain and to get rid of the minions, who are also a threat.

Eames, Arthur and Parker will be blowing up Glory's building tomorrow, as a signal to the others to begin attacking Glory's minions.

Once Glory is gone, feel free to have any dead characters come back.

Hopefully this clears up any confusion regarding how Glory will be dealt with. If you have any questions, please feel to ask them here.

Roll Call

Hi all! It's that time again!

That's right. It's Roll Call Time.

This isn't an activity check, this is a roll call to make sure everyone's still around. But even though it's not an activity check, we do want you to take a look at your characters and really consider whether or not you're active with them or can be in the future. On that note, we would like you to make a note of your each of your characters' last activity in each of the communities. It doesn't have to be a post you yourself started, posts that you commented to work as well, but your character has to be involved. If you've been using your characters' tags, this should be simple. As we said, this is not an activity check. Nobody will be penalised if they haven't been active with a character. Glitch Plot

Hey everyone, mods here. We have another plot starting tonight at midnight, that will carry on through June. It's not a plot that has to affect anyone all the time, which is why it will be carrying on longer than most other plots. It's the sort of plot that you can have affecting your character in one post and not in the next, or even from one comment to the next.

Basically, the PDAs are going to start glitching. When characters post or text or make calls, their PDAs might act up. Not all the time, and not necessarily in every post a character does. It may not even act up in the same way every time. It's really up to you all what you want to happen. Various "glitches" that can happen to your characters' PDAs can be found below.
  • Damn You Autocorrect: Have you ever texted your spouse or messaged them on the network to tell them you want doritos and accidentally told them you wanted a divorce? Talk about awkward. Well, in some posts, the PDAs might "correct" what you say to turn a perfectly normal situation into one that is incredibly uncomfortable and takes a lot of explaining. After all, your girlfriend might not believe you when you tell her that the message about picking up a slut at the 7-11 was actually about a slurpee.
  • Lack of Filter: Have you ever forgot to private a message that was private, thus letting everyone know about that fight you're having with your best friend that you wanted to keep a secret? Well, now your PDA is doing it for you. Some posts or comments that were meant to be filtered won't be, letting everyone see your private drama. So when you make a post to your friend about how your other friend is a bitch? She just might see it.
  • I Meant to Send that to Someone Else: Likewise, it's really awkward when you go to filter something about your sister to your friend, and accidentally filter it to your sister instead. Especially if the message isn't exactly flattering. Well, maybe you'll go to filter something to someone, and your PDA will change who the message is filtered to. That can really cause you some problems.
  • I Didn't Mean to Send a Mass-Text: Like it says on the tin. Everyone's hit reply all once or twice, or accidentally sent a mass text. Now your PDA is doing it for you so that all your friends, as well as your aunt and your father, can know about your awkward little pregnancy scare. Or your attempt to start a sexting conversation.
  • I Swear I Erased That: Lots of people type things and then erase them, just to get it out of their system. Nobody actually wants to tell someone they think they're a giant tool. Which is why it's a real problem when the PDA completely disregards the fact that you backspaced and posts it anyway. Maybe it will show your real feelings. Maybe there will be a random non sequitur in the middle of your sentence. It just depends on your character.
  • Oh Shit! I Think They Heard Us: Have you ever accidentally hit the voice post button? Ever done it while on the phone? Now the PDAs are occasionally posting conversations or even phone calls as voice post. Let's just hope your characters aren't having any awkward conversations. But I'm sure it will all be boring pizza orders.
  • That was Supposed to be a Secret: We all have secrets. Things we don't want other people to know. Which is why it's really inconvenient when our PDA's post public messages of our secrets. That we never typed. Seriously, why not just light the darn things on fire? Oh, right, you'll just get a new one.
  • Make Your Own Problem: Can you think of something else the PDA can do to make your character's life difficult? Talk to the Mods, and we will let you know if your idea works. We're pretty open to anything.

So just have fun with it and enjoy this opportunity to mess around with your characters and embarrass them a little.

( Edit ): And be sure to make an OOC note in the post or comment to let people know that there is a glitch. Sometimes, it will be obvious, like if someone mass texts everyone about their new sex toy or posts that they're now a cannibal, but other times it won't. So, to be safe, just make an ooc note when it happens.

ATTENTION ALL HIGH SCHOOL AGED CHARACTERS!!!!

Or anyone who looks high school aged. Or could feasibly pass as high school aged. Basically? If you aren't old and wrinkly, this could apply to you.

The prom is next Saturday, May the 28th. Now in real places, you have to be a high school student in order to attend the prom. However, this is Colligo. Therefore, if you have some possible way/reason to go, feel free to do so. It's being run by locals so it's not like it would be hard to crash.

Please note that we will be putting a general prom thread for everyone who is there to reply to if they would like. Clearly, we do not expect it to ever end and everyone is more than welcome to do their own sub-threads within that thread or post after party threads/logs of their own as well. The point is this is something aimed at the younger (or at least younger-looking and yes, Damon, I'm referring to you) bunch in the city so have fun with it!
