Role playing may be done either over AIM or through IJ posts.
Please set up a 'who, when, rating' when posting your log. For threads, please make sure you are in the right community.
Journal Format Role Playing Personal Journals - These are written in the 1st person and posted in the character's personal journal.
Journal RP Method< - Everyone does RPing in the journal format a bit differently. However, for flow, everyone must write in narrative style, 3rd person. There shall be no godmodding. Please do not predict the moves of another character not belonging to you without their Mun's consent. Participation First off, active participation is a must! Even less known characters in the books have a chance to be major players in our RPG. If we see anyone who isn't actively participating, we'll give them a little budge at first, but if someone abandons all energy toward their character, we'll look for a replacement. Everyone is expected to post once a week per character, in either the character's personal journal or RPG boards. If you will be gone for an extended period of time, please notify one of the mods OR write a post at the OOC board. Icons We're allowed 100 icons at insanejournal! This means you get to use icons to help express your character in a visual sense. What this also means is you have to make an important decision on who to use for your icon. Please take a look at the members of our RPG and make sure they haven't already chosen who you want to use. We don't want any doubles, unless they're twins.
The Issue of Slash and Smut It is an open-minded, affable atmosphere. We want everyone to feel comfortable writing anything they want, as long as it could realistically happen between characters. City of Eden RPG is a very slash-friendly environment. It is recommended (not required) when a thread becomes smutty (including but not restricted to both slash and het, noncensual sex, bondage, etc) that one of the roleplayers writes a warning of sorts. Nevertheless, being a roleplaying game with very mature players, we often times forget. If you feel uncomfortable with any of this, reconsider applying.
Mary Sueism The more the RPG world expands, the more susceptible it becomes to Mary/Gary Sues. What is a Mary Sue (or avator as they are sometimes called)? It is a term often to negatively describe a character or a style of writing. A Mary Sue is often invented in a writer's mind for one purpose: attention. They're often beautiful, brilliant, and unbelievably talented.
As an RPG that accepts original characters and allow role-players to explore their characters more in-depth, we must take extra precautions not to admit a poorly constructed character.
