Noteable Districts
The Southern Row-The darkest side of town. Locals go here to get their fix and for child prostitution. This area has an abundance of drug dealers, homeless, and suspect activities.The police think of it as a black hole when it comes to crime. They simply stay out and isolate the illegal activity which takes place in this area. The Southern Row, named thusly due to the long row of abandoned homes isolating it from the rest of the city. Most residents do not visit the area without risking the chance that they might not return.
The Shopping District- Made up of three streets with nothing but shopping. Stores lining both sides, and the occasional eatery. Names from Dior, Versace, Chanel to Old Navy, Urban Outfitters, and H&M can be found in this district. To cover each store, it would take at least three days. The Business District- A little less than two fifths of the town is called the Business District. Here, multi-billion dollar corporations reign supreme. Any job you might have, whether it be in politics, law, economics, chances are, you work and/or live in this area.
Schools, Hospitals, Religious Locations St. Ignatius Hospital and Psychiatric Facility- The city hospital, both private and publicly funded. Known for their advances in medical procedures and their recovery center. St. Ignatius has been making medical news for years. Recently, the hospital has added a psychiatric facility to their grounds.
St. Augustine Cathedral- The largest religious building in all of Eden with Gothic architecture dating back to the early 1800s. For years, it has hosted mass twice a day, everyday, four times on Saturday, and five on Sunday. Activities include Sunday school, food drives, potlucks, clothe collections, charity fundraisers, etc.
St. Augustine Preparatory School- The premier school of Eden. A catholic school affiliated with St. Augustine Cathedral, run by priests, sisters, and lay teachers. Serves students from K-12 with one building for grammar school children, and one building for students in high school. Uniforms are navy blue and gray.
St. Augustine Orphanage- institution for children under 18 whose parents are deceased or unable to care for them. Sponsored by St. Augustine Cathedral. Children at the orphanage attend St. Augustine Preparatory School for free education.
Hardenbergh University (HU) - One of the top universities in the country, and the top university in Eden. Both, private and publicly funded, it was founded in the late 1700s by E.H. Hardenbergh, this institution is known for its college of Arts and Sciences, as well as its school of Business. Hardenbergh is also known for its school of medicine and law. Their colors are navy blue and gold, and their mascot is Hardy the Wolf. Eden Community College (ECC)- Eden Community College offers good opportunities for students looking for a more economic-friendly education. This two-year institution is state-funded. After graduating from ECC, some students transfer to a four-year liberal arts college for two to three years to complete a bachelor's degree.
Alm Elementary School- the local public school for children who prefer a basic, nondenominational, free education.
Lamont High School- the local public high school for children who prefer a basic, nondenominational, free education.
Places of Recreation
The Caverty Club- The premier high society gentleman's club. Admission by invitation only. Founded in 1832 by Emerson Caverty, the Caverty Club became the most elite club in the city of Eden. Only the wealthiest, most esteemed men are permitted to enter the large oak doors. Dinners, evenings of gambling, certain business transactions, and relaxation in the first floor sauna are all activities that take place here. Women are not allowed (for entertainment or other reasons) past the first floor lobby, unless they work in catering. Membership is obtained by invitation from the Caverty Board, or approval of the Board after invitation from a blood relative. [To gain membership, please ask the mods]
The Ladies of Eden- A women's association based on the idea of success, sisterhood, and charity. Founded in 1894 by Abigail Chrisholm and a group of five women, the Ladies of Eden began by organizing fundraisers and banquets for charity, as well as the social gratification of a well planned event. This association began as an open group, but shortly after 1906, they closed their doors to any further members. After that point, the Ladies of Eden would take an active role in promoting the debutante ball at St. Augustine Preparatory School where they would begin their search for new members. Every year, after the debutante ball, the association chooses a few women (privately) and moniter their success. If by their final year of school, they fit the appropriate criteria, the young women would be invited for an interview to join The Ladies of Eden. [To gain membership, please ask the mods]
Hotel Reggente- A four star hotel in the heart of the city. A landmark in town, founded in 1904, the hotel is known for its high ceilings, gold fixtures, and elegant courtyard. Public events, weddings, balls, and galas are all hosted here. Hotel Reggente also has two award winning restaurants and a very nice bar. Eden Botanical Gardens- Located in the heart of the city and right across the street from Hotel Rggente, the Botanical Gardens consist of five acres of freshly cut grass, gardens, greenhouses, parks, playgrounds, and fountains. Free to enter and paid for by the state, the gardens are a fine place to take your children in the day, and a lovely place to walk with a lover at night. Police do patrol the gardens, but beware. Like everything in Eden, things become a bit more dangerous in the evening.
Eden Museum of Art, History, and Science- Three museums, each separated by a topic; Art, History, Science. The three together surround the western side of the Botanical Gardens. Field trips, education groups, all visit these museums for their fantastic exhibits. These areas are landmarks with work dating back to 300 B.C. on exhibit.
