Call Me When You're Drunk [ Complete ]
Who: Vash ([info]stampeded) and Wolfwood ([info]nickwolfwood)
What: Discussing the birds and the bees everything that's happened.
When: Day after the curse; ungodly early hour.
Where: 050A.
Warnings: Awkwardness. Maybe swearing, amnesia and some sap at the end.

It was for the simple reason Vash wasn't sure what to do(extremely odd, this: he used to always know a reaction to every situation. But then again, he hadn't felt like he knew how to act for a while.) that he went right to the source of his anxiety. It had only been a night - not even, more like six hours from midnight, if the clocks were correct - but his whole schedule was thrown off by it.

Ever since the power-switching, he'd gotten a better grip on his "problems," and tried to move his sleeping from during the day to night, like what was normal for a human; but just that one curse had thrown him right back in to his old habits. And there was only so long a Plant could pace and annoy his roommate before he had to do something.

So, at the unholy hour of six AM, the red-coated Stampede was whistling down the halls, a box of cafeteria prepared donuts under his arm and a bounce in his step. This was, of course, just an out reflex; he even had his glasses on, and with a smile on his face, promptly arrived at room 50 and... knocked. Loudly.

What was he doing? Getting rid of guilt, truthfully. It must've been the curse that made Wolfwood act like that, Vash reasoned to himself - and unless the 'normal' was established again, the Stampede was half suspecting he'd lose his... best friend.

Because that's all it was.

"This place may not be Gunsmoke, but it isn't Heaven, either." He meant that mostly figuratively, though, ha, guess he ought to know. "Just because people who get killed here don't stay dead doesn't mean I want to die again."

There was an immediate 'frown' in Vash's expression, even if his smile stayed stuck. "Let's hope nothing calls for that to be used, huh?"

If only he could trust himself around his Colt. Ah well, inbedded weapons worked just as well. "So. Coffee. You're really getting some?"

"I might as well stay up now that I'm up," he said, letting the question of using his guns pass by unanswered and grabbing a half-full box of cigarettes on his way past his table, tucking it into his jacket. "Are you coming with?"

"Well, it's not that far from here..." The Stampede trailed off, but he was agreeing before he even got to 'suspenseful' part of the pause. "Yeah, I'll tag along. I wouldn't want you laying unconscious in the hallway because you fell asleep."

"I'm not that tired!"

It was disturbingly normal between them. Who complained about that sort of thing, though? And wasn't that what he'd wanted, for things to be as they were?

Ah well. He headed out the door towards the siren call of caffeine.

"Delusional, too." And that ... atmosphere of tension seemed to grow, even as the Stampede ignored all those 'things unsaid,' putting on a mock-stern face and following Wolfwood out.

They didn't have to talk about it. It would be safer if they didn't. But at the same time...

"Am not!" he said, shutting the door behind them and going towards the cafe. "Maybe you are."

"Really, Nicholas," Vash practically whined, taking a longer stride to be even with him, "Is that any way to talk to a friend?"

"...I could say the same thing to you," he said, glancing at Vash out of the corner of his eye. "Considering you were the first to say it!"

"I was making a remark on your mental health!" The Stampede tried to protest vainly, flailing the arm not by Wolfwood a bit. "You should pay better attention to it! Get more sleep! Eat well! All that stuff helps, y'know."

"How can I when I get woken up at six in the morning to eat donuts!"

"You could have told me to leave," Vash huffed, as though it were Wolfwood's fault that the Stampede had to do the duty of waking him up.

"Oh... Right." The Stampede hummed, not looking all that concerned about Wolfwood's ability to shoo away red-trench-coat wearing gunman. "Well, there it is." Cheery for someone who'd changed his whole sleeping pattern, Vash pointed out the obvious - that was, the cafeteria that was fianlly in view down the hall.

"I know where it is," he said as they got to the doors, going in and holding it open for Vash behind himself, "I do live in this hall, you know." So maybe one or two times he'd had a problem with his bike breaking down in the middle of the desert, but that didn't apply here.

"Are you positive you do?" Vash wheedled, immediately going for the plastic cups and tap water. No surprises there. "It's kind of hard to get lost in here, I guess. But with you..."

"What do you mean but with me?" he said, giving Vash a Look from behind the coffee machine. It was hard to stay tired when Vash wanted to pick a... well, he wouldn't call it a fight, really, but there didn't seem to be a word for it.

"Let's face it," The Stampede sighed tragically, taking the Look with all the pride of a blind Plant and sitting back against the counter. "Remember the first time we met? You got lost in the desert and then your biggest problem was that you didn't have enough money for a bus ticket. I was surprised you could walk." Of course, now he realized it could've been less of a 'lost-Wolfwood' thing and more of a 'discreet-way-to-find-Vash' thing.

Those were gloomy thoughts, though, so the resident pacifist immediately forgot them.

It had been, but that was beside the point. "I didn't get lost, my bike broke down!" Pouring coffee down his throat made him feel so much better that he could almost forget having told Vash ...things. "It's completely different."

"You took off into an endless desert with a bad bike?" Still deadpan curiosity; everything was still fine.

"It wasn't bad! Anything can have problems!" Especially convenient ones timed to get him on the same bus as Vash.

"And then, instead of heading back, which would've been shorter, you start walking 500-some miles out?" Really, that whole thing had been rather idiotic. Of course, Vash was the one that somehow managed to trip up a wheelie just by going straight, so he shouldn't have talked.
