Call Me When You're Drunk [ Complete ]
Who: Vash ([info]stampeded) and Wolfwood ([info]nickwolfwood)
What: Discussing the birds and the bees everything that's happened.
When: Day after the curse; ungodly early hour.
Where: 050A.
Warnings: Awkwardness. Maybe swearing, amnesia and some sap at the end.

It was for the simple reason Vash wasn't sure what to do(extremely odd, this: he used to always know a reaction to every situation. But then again, he hadn't felt like he knew how to act for a while.) that he went right to the source of his anxiety. It had only been a night - not even, more like six hours from midnight, if the clocks were correct - but his whole schedule was thrown off by it.

Ever since the power-switching, he'd gotten a better grip on his "problems," and tried to move his sleeping from during the day to night, like what was normal for a human; but just that one curse had thrown him right back in to his old habits. And there was only so long a Plant could pace and annoy his roommate before he had to do something.

So, at the unholy hour of six AM, the red-coated Stampede was whistling down the halls, a box of cafeteria prepared donuts under his arm and a bounce in his step. This was, of course, just an out reflex; he even had his glasses on, and with a smile on his face, promptly arrived at room 50 and... knocked. Loudly.

What was he doing? Getting rid of guilt, truthfully. It must've been the curse that made Wolfwood act like that, Vash reasoned to himself - and unless the 'normal' was established again, the Stampede was half suspecting he'd lose his... best friend.

Because that's all it was.

Aside from that one horribly embarrassing little conversation on the journals (what had he been thinking, to say it again sober? But the curse hadn't let him sing - well, type - anything else), Wolfwood had been trying not to talk to or run into Vash, figuring they both needed some time to think about it.

Of course, he should've known better than to assume Vash would do anything sensible, ever. He rolled out of bed with a tired groan when the knocking woke him up, sitting there for a while and rubbing his eyes, before getting dressed and heading for the door. There was no need to ask who it was - for one thing, Vash was the only one he knew well enough to really get a visit from, and for another, Vash was the only one insane enough to knock on someone's door like that at six in the morning after he knew damn well they'd been up past midnight.

"Good morning, Vash," he mumbled, brain too foggy to remember to call him 'Eriks'.

And, as with nearly all his plans, he had second thoughts; either because of Wolfwood's half-asleep response or just his 'common sense' catching up with him, he wasn't sure. But still - he'd come this far, with donuts, too, and couldn't just turn around.

"Morning, Wolfwood!" The Stampede chirped after his split-second of hesitation and glimpse of an unsure expression, before bringing up the box he'd had under his arm to Wolfwood's slouched form. No one was on the floor: they couldn't have heard the mistake in name. "-- Were you still sleeping? Sorry. It's just- ah- well, you know-"

... Vash really couldn't remember what he was suppose to say. Whoops.

He did sort of remember being crazy (though not that crazy) during the power switch, so it was a little easier for him to forgive being woken up for donuts and a chat than it might have been before. "I was just about to get up anyway." Lies.

He took the offered donuts and went back into his room to set them down, covering up a yawn on the way in. "What did you want besides bringing me breakfast?"

The Stampede forever remained in the doorway, a sheepish grin on his face and a hand at the base of his neck. "Well, I wanted to see if you were up," Vash professed, though now he wasn't so sure. "-- And I guess not. Still tired?"

Light, joking; this was how things would be if Vash found a way to keep them from acknowledging the drunken 'confession,' as well as that offer sounded - but it remained that it would be better like this. "We were up past midnight, weren't we?" The pacifist suddenly seemed to realize, "Oooh - sorry!"

Of course, he'd guessed Wolfwood would've been tired. But there was no need to skip the apology, right?

"Yeah," he said, shaking his head and grinning to himself, though he still had his back to Vash. He picked up a donut and started eating it thoughtfully, looking up at the ceiling. The subject of what he'd said - what they'd said - seemed like a pretty big elephant in the room to him already, despite their later conversation where he'd tried to get across that it didn't actually change anything between them. It was probably just that it had all been singing and therefore imprecise and confusing and just generally argh.

"With the curse... but it's okay."

Vash gave one of his old laughs, hands falling together in front of him to fidget nervously, suddenly glad Wolfwood was turned away. "Singing... who'd have thought, huh?" The Stampede gave a pause, before pulling up the same courage that let him race through bullets and stopped his outward nervousness, a small smile staying on his face.

"Hey, Wolfwood - mind if I have a donut~?" Because, really, he wouldn't be him if he didn't ask.

"It was strange," Wolfwood agreed, glancing back over his shoulder at Vash. "Yeah, go ahead. ...Hey, you didn't bring any coffee with you, did you?" Being awake during this sort of conversation would be a good thing, lest he accidentally said something Bad out of sleep-fogginess - which he would be trying desperately not to do.

"Didn't think too, no," The gunman admitted shamelessly - he'd never really taken to coffee - before snatching up one of the very 'gift' he'd brought and practically breathing it down. At least, that was what it could've looked like.

"The cafeteria's still open though, if you think you could make it." A once-over was given to the slightly sleep-ruffled Wolfwood, making it clear what Vash really thought about the priest's chances of making it down the hall.

"I'm not that tired," he defended himself, taking another donut as soon as he'd finished his first one because now that Vash had started eating them, the life expectancy of the box had gone rather sharply down. "But if I go when I get back there won't be any more donuts..."

"I'm not that heartless," Vash sniffed in return, swiping two more not-so-discreetly before backing off to ward the temptation away. "See? This is it!" .. Of course, for taking three out of a box of seven, it was a bit much. Not that he'd say that.

"If I turn my back the rest will be gone too." He raised an eyebrow, reaching into his jacket for a cigarette only to find that there weren't any there.

Keeping an eye on the rest of the donuts while trying to get the closet to provide him with his nicotine fix was difficult, but he managed it, lighting up when it finally gave him a pack.

There was a frown on Vash's face, but his only protest to the sudden blast of smokey smell was to finish off one of the donuts in his hands and again reach for another one, as though going "against" his promise was really a punishment.

"Ya'know," The Stampede started, whether or not he actually got the donut, "I think I should feel somewhat offended if you have to light up." It was joking - again, not at all serious.

Wolfwood gave his hand an evil eye, but didn't reach to stop him. "What does me smoking have to do with you?" he asked, dropping the match in one of the various ashtrays lying around his room.

An innocent look and Vash tried to 'hide' the remaining donut behind his back, once more down to one. He shrugged nonetheless, however. "Nothing, really. But don't people say smoking's just a stress-reliever?"

"I like the taste." He shrugged, watching Vash play with the donuts. Two and some cigarettes were enough for him - now if only there was coffee... "And the feeling."

"Of smoke?" Again, the Stampede wrinkled his nose, the last one in his hand going down the hatch faster than Gunsmoke's colddog eating champion could do his job. "Really, what is the attraction to those? They smell bad, aren't good for you, looks like a giant tooth sticking out of your mouth if you tilt it right, a choking hazard--" He listed off his fingers, looking very much like he was the preacher in the room.

A giant tooth?

Well, Vash was Vash all right, and apparently in fine form. Maybe Wolfwood was making a big deal over nothing and the... love thing hadn't really been anything to worry over.

"They don't smell bad, they're not that bad, they taste good, I've never choked on a cigarette, and they give me something to do with my hands."

He paused. "And also it looks cool."

Oh, right. Wolfwood probably never saw pictures of a Walrus.

Vash huffed, folding his arms and looking properly affronted. "You're giving in to peer pressure? What sort of idol are you giving kids?" He wasn't going to argue the rest of it - it was all obviously true... His point of view about the smell, anyway.

As Nick seemed to relax, so did the Stampede - it looked like he didn't have to walk on egg shells for a bit.

"What sort of idol am I giving kids?! Who are you to talk?"

It wasn't as if Vash didn't get along with kids - hell, half the time it had seemed like he'd been the one to drag Wolfwood into something involving them.

"Hey, I don't lug around a giant rocket launcher, now do I?" Another high-and-mighty sniff was given, and a pointed glance toward the wall that had previously been destroyed. "And use it unnecessarily."

"That was a necessary experiment!" he said, mostly because it would have completely destroyed any sort of good mood there was if he'd brought up the angel arm Vash did carry around with him and what it blew up unnecessarily.

"Ask the closet for your confessional - you really need it," Vash deadpanned, staring resolutedly at Wolfwood in an entirely serious manner. "Though I don't know if there's an actually creditable priest around here." Hm.

Ouch, that stung, especially given... what he'd told Vash. What he'd done with Milly.

What he'd thought of doing with--

"Hmmph," he said, closing his eyes and smoking, trying to pass off the genuine flash of pain as play-grumpiness.

Nothing was going to get past Vash on guard, though. As creepy as that probably sounded.

"Hey, there's still two left," A subtle change of topic, but not a very good one - "Anything would be better than those cigerrettes." He didn't mean offensive, really.

"You can have them." But if Vash was going to be such a pain about his smoking... He turned away again, going to the window this time and opening it despite the cold, blowing a long breath of smoke outside.

Did it really make him all that bad? Everyone sinned. He knew he shouldn't take it seriously - after all, Vash was Vash and almost definitely hadn't meant anything by it.

Plus, despite loving the other man, it wasn't as if they'd...
...
He would definitely have remembered that, right?
Or Vash would have said something about it.

...Right?
