Masquerade Log
Who: Everyone!
What: The Masquerade
Where: The ballroom
When: 5:00 PM to 5:00 AM
Why: Because it's Clockwork's birthday!
Warnings: Who the heck knows?

The ballroom doors open promptly at 5:00 PM, revealing a lavishly, but tastefully decorated ballroom. A balcony circles the room, lined with tables for the guests, as well as a small grand staircase that leads down from the double doors to the dance floor proper. No band is seen, but music echoes through the room nonetheless, all instrumental but also some very nontraditional pieces. The buffet takes up the opposite wall from doors on the first level, seeming to have something for everyone, but the centerpiece is the cake. Large enough to feed two generous portions to every resident of the building and still have some left over. Flavor dependant on who eats it. It is an exact replica of The Building and its surrounding property. The hands on the Clocktower are set to 12:00 and around the sides of the cake, in the same perfect, flowing calligraphy as the invitations, are written the names of every person that had been brought to the world since those first few characters. The ones that had come through that first summer a year ago written in gold; the ones that had since left in black; the ones that had taken their departing into their own hands in red; and the current residents in silver.

For once, Kaname wasn't paying much attention to where he was going. He was only here out of boredom and idle curiosity; he'd been far busier looking at the decorations and the others there. He hadn't expected someone to have stopped at the end of the staircase. And of course the mask restricting his vision hardly helped.

Which explained why he tripped, grabbing the person in question in a manner that might otherwise be considered rude. "I'm terribly sorry," he said, only barely cutting off the "Miss" in time. Why had a man come to this party in a skirt? "Are you all right?"

Sano caught the tumbling youth, and blinked a couple times, attempting to smile reassuringly. He was...really rather grateful the ghosts had decided to provide him with contacts for this, considering that masks and glasses just didn't mix.

"I'm fine...you're not hurt any, are you?" He didn't want to hear it about the skirt. It wasn't like he'd had a choice, after all.

"No." And if he were, it would heal in a moment or two. He supposed he should be glad that, while his costume was perhaps a bit tighter than he was used to wearing, it didn't involve skirts or high heels. "Are you waiting for someone?"

"Ah...yeah." Two someones, actually, but that was besides the point. Sano wasn't going to explain to a complete stranger that he was waiting for both Spitfire and a 14-year-old boy. It was sort of hard to slip into small talk, after all.

"And you? Did you come alone?"

"Yes." Kaname saw no reason to lie about it. He always came to these things alone and often left that way, too. Though he'd never been to one here; perhaps it would be different.

"I apologize for disturbing you, then." A smile, and he turned to go, pausing just a moment to add, "You might wish to wait in a safer place." One where he wouldn't get tripped over, he meant.

He had to laugh a little at that. It wasn't every day someone of his height got tripped over, after all.

"It might be safer, but at least I'm easy to find, no?"

"Yes, I suppose there is that. Are you so worried about it?" If he were meeting someone, surely they'd find him wherever. Unless they weren't aware they were meeting...? "Or did you not tell them how to find you?" For a masquerade, it was usually helpful to tell anyone you wished to meet what costume you'd wear, though this one was complicated by the fact that they hadn't chosen the costume themselves.

"Hey, you're from the 8th floor!" And so, Fuumei accidentally slipped into his stalker-DJPLUGMAN side.

"You seem to have me at a disadvantage." Kaname raised an eyebrow, then realized he probably couldn't see it behind the mask. He didn't recall meeting this person before, but with costumes, it could be difficult to tell. Interesting that he knew where he lived, but then it wasn't really a secret. The name was on the door and he could take care of himself. Although he didn't usually dress quite like this, so he supposed it spoke well for their powers of observation, whomever this was. Not that anyone back home wouldn't have known him whatever he wore, but here, things were different.

Fuumei cursed himself for the minor slip. He had cameras all over the building and watched everyone through his cameras, in an attempt to pull off DJPLUGMAN back in his parts battling days.

"Ah, I'm Fuumei! Goshogarawara Fuumei, oh just Fuumei or Wasp, as these guys call me, or anything you'd like. I live on the ground floor!" Fuumei grinned and offered a hand at the pretty boy in front of him.

That was... strange. Did he always act like this? He seemed either nervous or hyper, or possibly both at once. Kaname extended his hand politely anyway, though his tone was still cooler than the words he used might suggest. "A pleasure to make your acquaintance."

"The pleasure is mine." Once again, his playboy instincts struck as the Wasp flashed his charming grin. "Now, why is pretty boy, such as yourself, standing here all alone?" The sweet-talk kicks in as Fuumei puts on his lady-killer voice, nevermind said subject is not exactly one.

That was unexpected. Combined with knowing his room number, Kaname was beginning to wonder if he had a stalker. But he gave no sign of it, even smiled, if more a polite smile than a real one. "I've scarcely arrived," he pointed out. "And I don't know many people here yet." Which was only the truth, and it was made more difficult with costumes and masks.

"Well then, I hope you make more friends in this party here. I'm quite new to these areas as well, but I'm lucky to have met friends from where I came from, here." Fuumei offered a genuine smile, which seem to look more like a smirk, before giving the other a bow. "Since I sense a little awkwardness here, I'd take my leave and say hello to those guys there. Do drop by my place if you're feeling bored and such. I can treat you to a little adventure on wheels." Fuumei then made his way further down to where his skirt-wearing-homo-teammate stood. The entire polite act was just to play along with the theme of the event, which he would tire of soon.

"Perhaps I will." Kaname had little intention of doing so; he wasn't at all certain that 'an adventure on wheels' was something he wished to seek out. On the other hand, there was no reason to offend, particularly when he was leaving anyway.
