Just a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down~ [Active]
Who: Blaze the Cat ([info]momentsflare) and Silver the Hedgehog ([info]forthefuture)
What: The big storm of doom got Silver sick! Blaze comes to the rescue with blankets and stuff. XD
When: Shortly following Silver's post here.
Where: .Silver's room (690 A)
Warnings: Nada as far as I can tell. Will add if anything pops up. :3

Luckily the rain had started falling in time for her to smuggle several different varieties of tea from the cafeteria. Darkness had enveloped things, many had spoke of it falling hard enough to cause bruising, and as she snuggled under a particularly warm and soft blanket, she'd felt the bit of chill even through the walls.

Apparently, he'd not been so lucky and been caught by the storm.

She watches the numbers shift as she goes past. 646. 647... Tries to pace herself and check her feet, not betray how anxious she is for numerous reasons to get there in short a time as possible. She fails. Has never been the type to wait around anyway. Not for pressing matters. Not when she was on a mission to help. And certainly not for a friend.

690. Takes a moment's pause to readjust the blanket over her shoulder and the switch hands with the bag of numerous things she's packed and knocks, twisting to see if the door is locked or not.

"Silver...?"

The hedgehog had ran through the storm as fast as he could, but alas, speed wasn't one of his strengths. He could still feel the ice-cold rain whipping at his body as he squeezed the blanket tighter around himself. As soon as he reached his hotel room, Silver had grabbed a towel from the closet and taken a warm shower. Though, not even that seemed to have helped.

Nevertheless, here he was now, sitting on the bed beside his laptop, coughing and sneezing from time to time. Blaze had promised to check up on him and he couldn't help but feel sorry and even a little pathetic for catching a cold like this. He shouldn't have gone out in the first place, since even the reason he did seemed to have no meaning anymore.

Then a knock and a familiar voice came from the door and his ears perked up. "The door's open."

One hand is already on the handle to the door by the time that familiar voice reaches lavender ears. Makes them flick, shortly, then lower a smidge. Even after this much time in this place - and how long had it been, after all? - she could still place something off. Still his voice, yes, but without the sharp clarity that suggests health.

She's inside in an instant, and takes a moment to glance over him.

"...Silver, what am I going to do with you?"

The question should speak of exasperation, in all truth. Instead it's twinged with some warm affection that eases in with the small smile she can't seem to stop from spreading acros her features.

Immediately she's shrugged off the blanket from her shoulder, catching it in her hand with some practiced ease before tossing it some four feet to the seated hedgehog. She opens the bag to rummage a bit, pulls out a thermos and assorted packets and such.

"Put that around you, alright? You should have been under more blankets already-- you'll be the death of me, I swear! I know someone must've told you of the closets, I think you'd know to look there for these things-- I brought hot water, wasn't entirely sure if you'd want tea or hot chocolate, after all, and you ought to get hydrated if you're at all sick..."

Realizes after a moment that this scolding session has turned a little lengthy and stops herself. Wants to smile at how much she must sound like him at times, carrying on so. It's a smile that blooms regardless, when she glances up to search that familiar face.

"...it's good to see you, Silver."

A smile forced it's way on his features as he saw her stepping in. The two of them hadn't really had time to meet each other before this, and it had already been a little over a month since Silver arrived to the hotel. So, what could he say? He was happy to finally see a familiar face. Well, he'd seen Mephiles and Sonic too, and could almost swear that saw a glimpse of Amy also, but one that he was sure he could trust to be there for him at times like these. A friend.

Then a blanket was tossed at him and the scolding began. The hedgehog blinked, but did what he was told, wrapping the cloth around himself upon the other one. He glanced over as the other started rummaging the bag she had brought with her, taking out all kinds of things. Thermos, tea , chocolate...Wow, she seemed to have gone through a lot of trouble to come and take care of him, and Silver couldn't help but feel a little guilty.

Then she glances up at him, smiling as she does so. He sniffed. And smiled back.

"It's good to see you too, Blaze." How long had she been here before him?

The scolding session is bound to happen. Inevitable, really; she wouldn't do so if she did not care. It's not harsh, either. Rather, her tone borderlines something reasonable and amicable.

She finally does pace herself, however. Takes a moment to drop a little of that strange barrier she's had as long as she can remember. Drops the business in this little half-confession. Finds it a little hard to believe just how much she's missed her friend.

He sniffs, then smiles back. Cool yellow eyes immediately light up at it; she'd recognize that sunshine smile anywhere.

She can't quite bring herself to scold him anymore, past a warmth and familiarity. Merely seats herself gingerly at the edge of his bed, tossing a few packets into a mug she managed to smuggle over.

"There's peppermint, chamomile and green tea. Or there's hot chocolate; just something gentle and soothing for a sniffle." She lets a little cool mischeif curl in her smile. One gloved hand reaches out to softly flick his nose in some childish tease that's likely been around since she first met him.

"Take your pick, silly. Then tell me all about how you've been. I'm curious."

Tilting his head Silver leaned over slightly to take a better look at the packets. Though the soft flick on his nose made him sit back down properly and rub at the spot. "Chocolate would be nice." he answered with a sheepish smile.

"Heh, there's nothing to really tell, just--" is cut off by a cough and slightly turns away from her for a moment.

"...This place is a little confusing. There's people that claim to know me, even though I've never seen them." the hedgehog took a moment to adjust himself and the two blankets around him and sniffed. Being sick was annoying, really. And he hoped that this wouldn't happen often here. He wouldn't want to be a pest for everyone.

"...Like that Shadow..." he mumbled, more as an afterthought, brows furrowing and hand clutching at the edge of the blanket Blaze had brought with her.

She didn't notice he'd shifted until she flicks that nose in some quiet tease and he adjusts to sit again. Lavender ears perk slightly at the soft comment, and the smile that's tinged with something like embarassment. And she knows that look. Forgot how much she missed just being able to read these looks. That and the comment over the journals earlier cues her in to what might be going on behind golden eyes.

Her tail flicks, softly, as she removes the packets from the mug and tears one open to pour the contents inside. Her gaze doesn't move from his even as she speaks, "Never a bother, silly."

She averts her attention accordingly when he begins explaining, though the cough makes amber gaze flicker a bit worriedly to meet his. She watches carefully to make sure that's alright before openning the thermos and pouring a generous portion of hot water in. Keeps her listening focus on the hedgehog even as she stirs it smooth with a delicate motion.

She's about to hand the mug to him when she catches the name, and the motion as that hand clutches into warm fabric. It gives her a careful pause, sorting through her thoughts a moment before speaking.

"I've... not heard of a Shadow. But then, I suppose I haven't wandered around as much as perhaps I ought." She needn't point out the underlying fact of her nature; she could recall when he, too, might've been subject to her solitary and suspicious nature.

After a careful moment's consideration she reaches forward just a bit to curl his hand around the warmth of the cup. She makes sure he's got a good grip before continuing.

"It's a confusing place, yes. I am hardly sure what to make of it, in truth. It would seem that there are those from different timelines, so to speak. Perhaps not such a far-fetched idea..." Trails off, one lavender ear flicking softly as she considers, before adding on carefully.

"There are... some very good people here. Might not alleviate the confusion of it all, but perhaps makes the whole contraption more tolerable."

She had always been good at it, but it still amazed him how she could read his thoughts so well. He chuckled softly at that, but ceased his movements for a split second as she started talking. Could it be that...Had Blaze met Shadow yet back in their world? He almost hoped that she hadn't, since that might mean she was closer to the point in time that he came from.

"...He's the black hedgehog who looks a lot like Mephiles."

Loosening his grip on the cloth Silver let her take his hand and curl it around the mug. Taking a good grip of it - or as good as he could with his current condition - he nodded to assure her it was okay to let go. Then, all the while listening to her, he took a small sip of the warm liquid to sooth his sore throath.

"It's true, there's a lot of nice people here and they've helped me out a lot." he finally said after listening to what his friend had to say. Placing the mug on his lap he gazed at the liquid and his own dark reflection through it.

But even so...This place was surreal and the hedgehog almost expected that one of these days he'd wake up back in the world he was taken from. He would act as if none of this happened and continue on with his life. But in the end, these feelings...The people around and his sickness...It was all as real as it could be.

"But yeah, as you said, it's still confusing, no matter how well informed one is." he continued after a while, shrugging and took another sip from the mug.

She speaks not so much to clarify things-- indeed, this place defies any sort of clarification. It often seems as subject to whim as a passing breeze; one merely drifts upon it. No, rather, she speaks as if to verify the complexity of it all.

But at least there are good people here and, now, her friend. That is something.

The mention of a black hedgehog triggers some memory of the journals and such, but it's really the second name that catches her. Mephiles. Throws her for a bit of a loop, really. Recalls briefly that when she'd finally spoken with Sonic that he'd mentioned remembering her as if from a dream, same as that dark other... Same as she remembered Mephiles. Remembers that even in the times of relative peace that she hails from, she'd been subject to nightmares. A world of destruction and fire. Iblis. She and Silver, a team of friends, Mephiles, a journey to past, a return and then...

She shudders, shortly, thoughts lingering with that childhood nightmare even as Silver continues on. Hears his words, and slowly, they calculate past the remembrance of terror. She finally does glance at him as he shrugs beneath the blankets, letting a small silence linger between them.

Even if that nightmare had been real, she thinks that things must've been made right. Her world was well. She lived.

She gives a soft sigh, shaking herself from her thoughts. The soft smile has faded from her face in favor of a cooler composure.

"Certainly there is to be confusion, but do not linger on it. One may cease to be confused if they stop attempting to find sense." More a gentle piece of advice than some strict proverb. She watches him carefully, but still with a vague, distant composure that bespeaks of meditation. Something that's hardly there.

And once again, she was right. The hedgehog smiled faintly, still gazing at the mug. It seemed like the cold was starting to take it's toll on his body as he slowly felt fatigue creeping over him, almost making him want to fall asleep right there and then. But first he'd have to at least finish the drink.

"You're...right." he finally replied, twiddling at the edge of the mug. "I'll try to not think about it too much." he added a second or two later, taking another sip of the hot chocolate.

It was true; he thought too much sometimes, which usually managed to make him even more confused. Those times, it was a good thing he had Blaze there to help him pull himself together. And he was glad. Some of the residents didn't know anyone here from the start, probably making them feel even lonelier and more confused than what he was, or will be. Silver didn't want to even imagine what it would be like without her here. He'd be utterly lost. With Shadow telling him to ask Mephiles and then Mephiles telling him to 'teach Sonic a lesson', he wasn't sure what was the right thing to do anymore...He almost wanted to ask her what she thought about it, but...But in the end, he decided to just remain silent for a while and observe the situation a bit longer.

...Maybe it was just because he didn't want to know whether they really were from the same point in time or not, or worse; even the same world. To be honest, he was...afraid. So, he shrugged those thoughts to the back of his mind, wanting to enjoy the time he spent with her.

Finally, he finished the drink with a soft sigh, ears flicking in a satisfied manner. Turning to look at the other beside him, the hedgehog smiled brightly - still a little tired, though - golden eyes shining. "Thanks, Blaze."

She only really manages the little piece of advice once she's pulled herself from some dark, pensive state. It lingers a little, in the cool composure now set in her features; it's an expression trained to hide deeper thoughts.

Sonic had spoken on similar dreams, after all... She honestly prefered not to think of those nightmares as some lingering of what once was.

The soft comment catches her though, makes lavender ears swivel forward and amber gaze meet golden. And... she can't help but let that carved expression ease into a warm, affectionate little half-smile that equals his own. The slight upturn of her lips lingers into moments of silence as her companion slips into some contemplative silence.

Strange, perhaps. For some, moments of quiet stood as an enemy to be conquered with frivolous speach, and any form of silence hung like an awkward, askew frame. With Silver, it seemed to her, a quiet moment stood as an ultimate contentment. No words were needed.

She catches the soft sigh and blinks at it, affirming that he has her attention. Light ears flick almost contentedly, a motion that nearly makes her beam at him.

She beams anyway, in her own quiet fashion, when she's given this bright smile like sunshine. And gods but she knows that smile.

Still. Those golden eyes absolutely shine, yes, but lack the sharp clarity of perfect awakeness. She somewhat ignores the thanks; it isn't needed, really. Reaches out with a gloved hand to touch the back of fingers to light-furred forehead. Warm, but not hot. Her smile turns softer as she meets that golden gaze again.

"Stay hydrated and get rest." A soft, simple instruction. She considers a moment before replacing her hand on his shoulder, gently.

"198 B. You know where to find me. And don't be afraid to use the journals if you need the littlest thing." A prolonged glance stands for some unspoken addition to the assurance; And I mean that, Silver. She gives a short, almost inaudiable sigh before tilting her head a bit.

"...I'll be around to check on you, mm." More a statement than a question; it's somewhat cued in her posture that, unless he should request otherwise, she has no intentions of leaving until she's sure he's well and asleep.

He flinched slightly as she reached out to touch his forehead. The gloved fingers felt warmer than usual, he guessed it was because of the cold. Right now pretty much everything felt that way, even his own body. But even despite that, he felt cold - the hot chocolate had reduced it a bit, though. Sickness was a strange thing...

"I will." he replied and nodded to assure her. To tell the truth, he hadn't noticed how thirsty he really was before taking the first sip from the mug. He'd really have make sure to drink a bit more than usually so long as this cold would last.

He brought a hand up in front of his mouth and coughed as she placed her's on his shoulder. Golden eyes looked into amber ones, signaling that even despite how tired the hedgehog was, he was still paying attention to what she had to say.

Finally he gave another nod. "Alright." And a smile.

Once she pulled her hand away, he put the mug down on his night stand. Then laying down on the bed and draping the blankets over himself comfortably he snuggled under them and let out a yawn. "...I think I'll be okay now. Don't worry." he said, peeking at his friend from under the covers. Even though Silver knew that she didn't think of this as any bother, he didn't want the possibility of her getting an infection too.

She reaches out in some half-curiosity, almost. She's halfway expecting that forehead to be warmer than it ought, and she's met with no surprises. The flinch catches her attention, shortly, but it doesn't stop the soft smile that hovers about her features. If anything, it only has a bit more of an encouraging edge to it.

He gives a pause as her hand shifts to his shoulders. Gaze doesn't meet hers past the cough, but she waits patiently. And she's rewarded with another nod of affirmation, a short comment that, in all likeliness, is more a resignation. And a smile.

She rearranges herself once she's sure he's understood. Leaves him room for to shift and get comfortable. She very nearly lets out a soft chuckle when he snuggles deep under the covers, so that he's practically buried. She manages to stifle it, though, and pauses at the comment.

There's certainly the part of her that would rather of stayed, she admits to herself. But she's willing to trust him with this choice.

She can't resist quickly poking him under the blankets, anyway, quickly, before carefully standing, ready to take her leave. She pauses though. Waits a careful moment before letting herself smile again.

She'd forgotten how much she'd missed him.

Another pause.

"...rest well, Silver."

She turns.
