A female Army Sergeant stood at the podium in the corner of the room facing a small group of people from the Chicago National bio-defense laboratory and other invited guests. The Sergeant of small stature in the Army's blue service uniform leaned forward toward the microphone. "Ladies and Gentlemen, please rise for the reading of orders for the promotion of Captain Kathleen Forbes, M. D." The small group of military and civilian guest rose from their seats inside the room.
