Shower Rush [10 May 2009|01:57am]
Ring, Ring.

He could hear his old school ringtone going off on his Blackberry phone through the sound of the shower. "Fuck!" He reached down to turn the faucet knob as he was drenched by the water from the over sized shower head above. Once the shower was turned off, he pushed the curtain away and stepped over the rim of the tub. The mirrors were all fogged up by the stream floating in the air of the bathroom.

In Person [10 May 2009|02:20pm]
It took some time for her to gather her courage to drive to Toby's house to speak with him in person after work. She felt a terrible sense of guilt for lashing out at him in her email last month. Her first attempt to mend their friendship with an email had gone unanswered, and she was a little worried. Shortly after sending the email she did not think anything of it when he did not reply immediately, and possibly for a time did not care if he did, but it was different now. She wanted to reach out and fix it.

After parking her vehicle down the street and walking up to his house, she stood before his front door taking in one deep breath before pressing the door bell. Ding dong. She straighten her suit jacket as she waited for someone to come answer the door.

Alec was at home, having managed to score some time off in his somewhat busy and very hectic schedule. His plan of moving to Chicago to make friends and socialise a lot more was apparently failing miserably. His mother had already lectured him about not having a girlfriend, like that somehow made him less of a person. His mother had weird priorities.

He rubbed at Spacey's ears and then moved the cat as he got to his feet, placing a file down on one side. What? Nobody said he couldn't bring work home with him, it wasn't like there was a whole lot to do at home. Toby was doing that MIA thing and Alec was worried that he might get another call at ass o'clock in the morning again with another 'I've been attacked by a vampire' story. Next time it wouldn't be one bite, Toby would be dead and what good would that do anyone? He still needed to talk to the other man about what in the hell was going on. Something was, Toby just wanted to pretend otherwise.

Arnold Palmer and Radioactive Demons [10 May 2009|04:16pm]
Avery had a plan. He was focused on that plan, and with a look of grim determination on his face, he rapped on Faith's apartment door. The Slayer would be an integral part in his machinations. The vampire was certain he couldn't pull it off without her. He had even driven to her apartment instead of walking like he usually did; he didn't want to waste any precious time, as it was of the essence. The sun had barely dropped below the horizon before he had left his Rogers Park building and slid into the driver's seat of his beloved red Corvair. It had only taken him fifteen minutes or so to travel to Faith's place, rush hour having thinned out about an hour previously.

"Open up," he called through the door. "I know you're in there."

Wiping the last of the sleep from her eyes, Faith didn't realize someone was at the door at first. She pulled open the fridge, grabbing a bottle of water before downing half of it. She was always thirsty after a hard sleep. Wiping her mouth with her forearm, Faith finally heard the muffled voice on the other side of her door. Her brow scrunched in confusion, the Slayer glad she'd put on a black tank top and sweatpants as she walked to the door.

Pulling it open, her expression brightened a little once she saw Avery standing at the threshold. She hadn't seen him since her release from county.

A Person in Common [10 May 2009|06:16pm]
It was one of those nights that was just busy enough but not too busy that the staff couldn't handle it. Usually, the crowds on nights like this were docile enough, men warned off touching the staff by a look or a stern word.

Today, there was a drunk party of six in, some kind of bachelor party - a tradition Jessica could not quite grasp considering marriage was still a rather alien concept to her - and they were loud, obnoxious and didn't seem to understand the words 'no' and 'touching'.

She had been over twice, another guard over once.

The dancer on the stage was moving with the beat, all hips twisting seductively and finger trailing between her breasts to warm up the crowd before she took to the pole. The men were only human, Jessica supposed, they couldn't be blamed for wanting to touch something so blatantly flaunting its assets.

Nervous Thoughts [10 May 2009|07:37pm]
[ mood | nervous ]

Jenny chewed on the edge of her thumb as she sat in the big bay window in her lounge. The sun was streaming in through the panes of glass, but Jenny felt cold. She was nervous, it felt like a mass of snakes had set up shop in her stomach and were wriggling over each other.

Her heart hadn't really left her throat since she'd departed from Rhiannon's. They had a plan. It was a good plan, if not a scary one, and probably very stupid because Jenny knew that the servants would be a problem, yes, they were slow, but they were strong and loyal.

She kind of wondered if they would all come out of this alright. Bumps and bruises weren't things she was particularly fond of getting and dying definitely wasn't on her agenda.

Who Let The Crazies Out? [10 May 2009|10:48pm]
[ mood | accomplished ]

When he'd signed up for the graveyard shift in the emergency room, Alec had been working under the impression that he might actually get a chance to sit down and sift through his paperwork, but it wasn't meant to be.

Apparently every crazy person had taken to the streets this evening.

He'd seen six car crashes, three stabbings, two pregnant teenagers with a higher alcohol to blood ratio and a couple interesting... inanimate objects in... a couple of interesting places.

Alec was finally catching his breath, pushing his hands into his hair and blinking his eyes blearily. He had another three hours left to go and he almost welcomed the next thing to come through those doors, figuring after the guy with the cucumber up his ass then he could handle pretty much anything.
