Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Who: Ilinca & Ivarr
What: Feeding for daaaays
When: November 4th
Where: Cirque grounds
Warnings: Murder, at the least. Anything else depends on who responds.

Ilinca was loving the Wild Hunt. She couldn't remember the last time she'd been so well fed, or allowed to stretch her wings and just fly about as she pleased. She'd spent the last day or so dressed in a simple white gown, her dark hair left loose and becoming tangled. She couldn't find it in herself to care very much. So many men, so much prey. Like letting pens full of sheep in amongst the lions. Ilinca had had at least six, and she didn't plan on stopping.

It was easy, it was always so easy. Luring one of them away from his group was child's play, playing the lost, scared girl who just wanted to go home. He ventured over to help her, and then her arms were around his neck. "Pretty thing," she murmured in his ear. "Pretty thing, come dance with me." He struggled, because of course he did. He could feel in his bones that something wasn't right. But she was stronger than him, however small she might look, and she dragged him into the trees.

It never failed to raise her heart rate, watching them succumb to her. No matter how they tried to fight, they all surrendered in the end. Watching the light leave their eyes, knowing that that light would soon be within her. It was the best feeling in the world.

The first day of the Wild Hunt had seen Ivarr taking many a victim and bloodying the banks of his river with the entrails he didn't like to eat. One creature had come along to clean up the remains of his first meals, but since then it had become a sloppy mess, thanks to the magical river being in a confined space, with little room for him to move along down it.

Deciding to take a break for awhile on the second day, he shifted back to the man, pulled on his robe, tied it tight around his waist, and walked through the circus barefoot, hair still wet with seaweed sticking out of it, giving him a rather wild look. Ivarr was impervious to cold, even as a man. He had spent enough time in the icy Scottish rivers not to think anything of the Russian cold.

It was on his walk that he noticed someone pulling a man into the trees. He sniffed at the air, sure that he smelled fae. Not wanting to interrupt the kill, he waited what he thought might be a respectable amount of time until he stepped into the trees himself, curious. "Hello," he called out in English, a statement and not a question since he knew she was somewhere in there.

Ilinca had danced with her first few victims, but as the Hunt wore on, she grew wilder. She lost more of her subtlety, simply dragging victims into the trees to kill them. She was almost giving off her own inner light, she was so well fed. And she couldn't seem to stop, though why should she? The Ringmaster had said it was a time to indulge their darker natures.

She had only just finished and rose from the ground, when she heard a man's voice call out. She cocked her head, listening. He didn't sound afraid enough to be a patron. Likely an employee, then. "Hello," she called back, her accent throaty and even more pronounced. "Come on out, if you like. I won't bite."

At the sound of a returned hello, he began to take steps deeper into the trees. The last thing he wanted to do was intrude upon someone's meal, but he was curious. Ivarr peered through tree branches before coming out into the open, drinking in the sight of another well-fed creature. It reminded him of the old days when they had all been free to be themselves, kill and eat how they needed to, without restraint.

He came out from around the tree, head dipped in respect since he was coming up on a very recent kill. "I am Chosamhlachd," he offered her his name. Both names. "Most know me as Ivarr these days." He dug his toes into the earth. It felt good not to be wearing shoes. "I only bite sometimes."

Ilinca nodded to him in return. "Ivarr," she said, rolling the name around on her tongue. "I believe I've seen you around before. I am Ilinca."

She nudged the body with her foot. "Would you like the remains?" she asked. "I have no use for them once they're dead, I merely require the life essence."

A pleased expression crossed his features when she told him she had seen him around before. "You have?" Sometimes he forgot how big he was in human form and how he could stick out like a sore thumb as he lumbered around.

"Hello Ilinca. Good to see you. Meet you. However it goes." Ivarr eyed the freshly dead body, unable to keep himself from licking his lips in anticipation. There was only one thing off. "I don't like them dry. I am a water horse. I drown mine. Eat them in the water." He plucked at a bit of seaweed in his hair. "I appreciate the offer though."

"You are somewhat hard to miss," Ilinca confirmed, a small smile appearing on her face. "You work with the horses, yes?"

"Ah, I see," she remarked, nodding. "Well, no matter. I'm sure someone will come along and take care of it. Good to meet you as well. Are you enjoying the Hunt? It's rather marvelous, isn't it?"

His pleased look turned into a toothy smile, the corners of his eyes crinkling. "I am. And I do. We have an act in the Big Top. It's kept me busy these past 10 years." There was nowhere else he could think of to work that would give him a river and room to be himself. It was an arrangement he was happy to stay in for a while longer.

"Someone might come and find it and eat it," he agreed. He had already gotten a favour in exchange for some of his leftover entrails. "The Hunt has been good to me so far. I'm fuller than I've been in a long time. You look full and good as well."

"I have been here almost as long," she told him. "Eight years dancing in the burlesque tent, but we always go somewhere interesting, so at least I'm never bored. I will have to come by and see you work with the horses sometime. And of course you are welcome to come watch us dance."

Ilinca nodded. "Something tells me it will not be here for long," she replied. "Not with the way everyone is acting. And yes, I have fed so much these past two days. The Hunt has been good to me as well, I'm pleased you are finding it so as well." She stretched out her arms. "I want to go flying again soon, possibly tonight. I don't get to go as often as I'd like, but the rules are very lax now."

It had been awhile since he had been in the burlesque tent. There were some things that were still beyond his understanding about the human world and that was one of them. "Sure," he accepted the invitation anyway. "I'll keep that in mind."

What did pique his interest was the idea of flight. "You should. Take full advantage of this, go flying." He watched her quietly for several beats before rambling on. "It has been such a long time. Such a long time since I saw such things. You should go, so maybe I can see you."

Ilinca tilted her head, a smile spreading across her face. "It has been a long time since I was able to do so," she replied. She missed being able to fly around whenever she wished, but it attracted too much attention.

She pulled off her simple gown without a trace of shame. "Hold this, please," she said to Ivarr, pushing her hair away from her back. Her wings, similar to a dragonfly's, only much larger, appeared on her back, first looking like highly realistic tattoos, then springing free as real appendages. She lifted off from the ground, gently drifting with a passing breeze. There really was no feeling quite like leaving the earth under her own power.

Ivarr didn't think twice about her sudden nakedness, himself preferring not to wear a stitch of clothing whenever possible. It didn't matter if it was Russia in winter, creatures like they were did not get bothered by the chill air, the snow, or modesty. "Of course." He took it from her, watching as her wings became visible and snapped into position.

Watching Ilinca fly made him feel like a foal again, young and wide-eyed, during a time the fae had much more freedom to be themselves and sustain themselves naturally. It was a wonderful sight to behold and he was suddenly seized by the desire for playfulness. He took off running in looping circles underneath her, the dress that he still clutched in one hand flowing out behind him. "It's good!" he called up to her. "You look very good!"

A true smile spread over Ilinca's face, and she tossed her hair and let out a sound of delight. She hated having to constantly hide herself away, only being let out every once in a while. Her wings flapped behind her, pushing her ever higher, then she let herself spiral gently back downward.

She touched down on the ground again with barely a sound, running her fingers through her hair. She couldn't bear to put her wings away again, not yet, but they remained tucked behind her for the time being. "There is nothing in the world quite like that," she told him. "For me it is the best feeling in the world."

Keeping his eyes on the soaring Ilinca, he continued his running about, feeding off her joy and letting out a whoop of his own. When he noticed her starting to come back downward, he slowed and finally pulled up to a stop just as she met the ground again.

Ivarr approached her, a toothy grin on his face. "I can only imagine. Just seeing it put such a happiness in me. I'm happy you did it so I could watch!" He still held her dress, making no move to give it back since he was much more focused on her wings which were still out. "They are so pretty. Last I saw wings like that it was so long ago."
