Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Who: Alex & Gavin
What: Shenanigans!
When: October 16th, afternoon
Where: Alex's workshop, then...who knows?
Warnings: Probably all of them

Things were fairly quiet on the grounds of the Cirque this afternoon. No shrieking, no explosions (because Alex wasn't working with anything volatile), no yelling in one of at least a dozen languages. And while Alex liked the excitement that this life brought him, he had to admit that having some downtime between the craziness was good for his sanity.

Just because it was quiet, though, didn't mean there wasn't work to be done. Alex had remedies to make, charms to finish, and he was working on teaching himself some middling hexes. Every little bit helped, and it never hurt to be prepared. The door to his workshop was open, and if anyone was passing by, they would have heard incantations, a bubbling cauldron, and the occasional muted thud. Anything was possible when Alex was working.

Unlike Alex, Gavin thrived on chaos, the more the happier he was. But lately there had been none, well not in the cirque anyway. He had been out in the city though doing what he loved best, inciting violence. After all, he was in one of the most dangerous cities in the United States and he'd be damned (again) it if he wasn't going to take advantage of that fact.

He was so. fucking. bored.

This of course caused him to wander and look for someone to annoy. Normally he would see he could get Kennet riled up enough, not that it actually worked, fucking djinns and his inability to show any fun emotions. He was brooding and bored now, well at least until he heard incantations in a very familiar voice. It actually made him perk up a bit and pause before he headed in the direction of the workshop.

"Bubble bubble toil and trouble, let Alex here work a double." he said leaning against the door frame. "Alexander I am bored."

Alex had been working on a hex that was essentially a magical tripwire, when he heard the voice at his door. It startled him out of his concentration, but he was able to let the gathered magic dissipate harmlessly, instead of all at once in Gavin's face.

"Alex is more or less working a triple," he muttered, closing the spell book and wiping some dust off on his jeans. "Shit to do, not enough time to do it. As per usual. However, in the interest of keeping Marcus-Mom off my back, I'm declaring it break time. Bored, hmm? Tired of taunting Kennet for now?"

Gavin smirked at Alex's muttering and raised his shoulder in a small shrug in response to his question pertaining to the ringmaster. "It's no fun when Daddy decides to ignore you. I'll pick it up again later." He said as he stepped into the witch's shop.

"What, pray tell are you working on this time? Something to blow someone up because that would be awesome." The amusement in his voice was evident as he ran his fingers along certain things. "Please tell me it's something dangerous and needs to be tested out."

"Of that, I have no doubt," Alex answered, pushing his glasses onto his forehead. He looked up at Gavin, finally smiling and beckoning him closer.

"Nothing explodes with this particular one, but it'll incapacitate someone if it's done right," he explained. "Magical tripwire. Kick 'em while they're down. Though I have been meaning to test this smokescreen thing, that and this spell that I think is for turning things inside out? Obviously I don't have a lot of volunteers for that one, and I'm hesitant to try it on living things."

"He really can be a wet blanket with a stick up his ass." Gavin said with an exasperated sigh before finally found stepped closer and looked over Alex's latest projects. Of course the one that piqued his interest the most was the inside out concoction.

"Why hesitate, killing is half the fun. Whay if I found someone willing to test it?" By willing he meant possessed of course. Not that it mattered, Gavin didn't give two shits about the pathetic creatures aside from a few people. Even those were expendable when it came down to the wire.

"I think that's been very firmly established," Alex agreed, stacking up his books to put away later. "One wonders if he knows how to have any sort of fun whatsoever."

"Killing is useful sometimes," Alex countered. "Willing volunteer, sure. I think this is the counter-spell here, so I could turn them back right away. I just want to see what happens. The same kind of curiosity that led Alice into Wonderland."
