Who Aria and Connor and OPEN
Where The Ice Symphony Tent.
When June 1st, 1:30 am
What Music.
Warnings TBD.

The cirque was eerily quiet this night. However, from somewhere in the Midway a soft music began to play, gentle and lilting on the ocean breeze. The sound could be traced back to the previously abandoned Ice Symphony tent, where whispers of air finally graced the hollow ice structures within.

Aria stood at its center, her skin illuminated in the pale blue light of the tent, her breath gently fogging in the air before her, her hands open and facing outward at her sides. Her fingers danced in rythm to the ghostly song that played, and a stray wind caught her hair and tousled it in an almost playful caress. Aside from this she was perfectly still, her eyes closed, the faintest ghost of a smile at the edge of her lips. It was a song from a long time ago, one of her favorites; she hummed along with the melody as her left hand summoned a second wind to add harmony.

She had only just signed on today. Of course she had known about the attacks... she was not surprised when the RingMaster told her the cirque would be closed this evening, but it was no less disconcerting to see a circus so forlorn and empty. The least she could do, she figured, was help to fill the void of such heavy silence. And, if she was being completely honest, she was also eager to try out her newest instruments.

Once it had been declared safe, Conor had helped escort the guests from the Ice Garden to the gates, before heading back to assess the damage. Thankfully, the Garden had gotten through mostly unscathed, just some minor damage that might take a day or so at most to fix. The tent needed a few small repairs, but the rousties had bigger things to worry about first.

He'd been with Zanna most of the day, but as he and Oighear were headed home, he heard the faint strains of music coming from...somewhere. Something he'd never heard before, and so he turned to follow the sound. It brought him to a tent he'd never been to before, mostly because there'd never been anyone in it.

He ducked inside, marveling at the giant towers of ice. It was cold in here, comfortable enough for him to feel at ease. And the song was sweet to his ears as he leaned against the tent wall, just listening for a moment.

Though she did not turn to acknowlege him right away, she felt his presence the moment he entered the tent, alerted by the way the air had to bend and redirect to move around him. It was a few moments longer before her song came to an end, the final notes reverberating through the cavernous space before fading into silence.

It was only then that she spun to face him, the gray fabric of her dress sweeping ice fractals along the floor at her feet. Lashes parted to reveal moss-colored eyes, wide and inquisitve, and her lips parted in a sheepish grin. Plucking the edge of her skirt, she swept into a low curtsey that belied the inhuman grace of her fae ancestry. When she straightened again it was to move toward him; closer inspection would reveal the gooseflesh that adorned her rosey skin.

"Either you're a fan of music, or you've come to inspect the racket. Or maybe both?" Mischief twinkled in her eyes, and she extended her hand to him. "I'm Aria. And you are the first person I've met since I've joined. Lucky you."

Conor listened as the song swelled and then died off. He thought about clapping, but it seemed like the wrong thing to do in that moment. Even if it was a beautiful song.

A small smile playing on his face, he swept into an equally graceful bow. Conor was only recently removed from the Old World, and he hadn't forgotten his manners. (He just mostly chose to ignore them, they never seemed to be needed with most of this crowd.) The tent was cold enough to make most creatures shiver and want to leave immediately, but for Conor, it was like home. He needed to come here more often.

"A little of both, perhaps," he answered, rising again. He took her hand and gave it a firm shake. "I'm Conor, I care for the Ice Garden. You picked a hell of a time to join up, though thankfully it's not usually this bad."

She was certainly not immune to the cold; she would have to remember to wear her winter jacket when she started working here. She tilted her head at him as his hand embraced hers, a gesture that was almost bird-like in its sharpness, and her smile widened at his response. She could tell he was not human... there was something that was too refined and fluid in his movements. "Ah. I am a little out of practice in my playing. I'd better sharpen up for when we open again, hm?"

A slow nod was offered, her grin fading to a sympathetic pout. "I heard. I'm sorry, such a terrible thing. I hope it isn't too uncouthe of me to be here, the quiet was a bit unsettling out there. I thought some music might help." She released his hand to rub her palms against her upper arms in an attempt to instill some warmth into them. "I'm not sure what the Ice Garden is, but it sounds enchanting. And not very much warmer than the Ice Symphony."

"Maybe a bit, but I can't play music by manipulating air, so really, who am I to judge?" he asked. "I'm sure whatever guests that wander in would be terribly impressed. I've seen multiple people walk into things, mostly because they don't know where to look first."

He nodded as well. "Thank you. None of us expected it, but neither were we prepared to lay down and take it. I don't think it is, no. I've heard people say it's far too quiet around here, and I'm inclined to agree." He smiled, sticking his hands in his pockets. "You should come by sometime," he offered. "I mean, I don't notice the cold because I never have, but I make everything in there. It's my baby. If any of your instruments ever need repairing, come and find me, I can fix them." He gestured with one hand, and a swirl of snowflakes started dancing on the wind. "Ice is sort of my thing."

"In this place, that isn't surprising. I'm sure there are wonders everywhere. I can hardly wait to see them all."

His demonstration caused her face to light, and with a flutter of her own hand the snowflakes he'd produced began to circle around their heads, bobbing and weaving as though in a waltz. "And, as you said, wind is mine. A garden made entirely of ice... that I have to see. I suppose I'll have to, what with you being my instrument repair specialist." She did seem delighted by the prospect. As her hand relaxed, so too did the wind spiraling around them.

"Do I get a personal tour of the place? There must be some kind of 'ice-tent comraderie club', right?"

"I'm sure you'll see them soon," he answered. "It seems really big at first, but once you get the hang of it, it starts to feel more homey."

He grinned as the snowflakes spiraled above their heads. "Well I'm pretty much always open," he told her. "Sometimes people skip me because nothing lights up, or flashes, or is edible. But I'm pretty proud of it, and I like showing it off." The flakes settled onto the floor as the wind died around them, and he let them lie.

"If you'd like," he answered, smiling slightly. "And if there isn't, there should be. We can get t-shirts."

His obvious pride in his attraction was endearing, really, and she had to hide a grin behind the back of one hand. "Well yours will be the first tent I visit, then. Well, second, this one notwithstanding."

The suggestion of tee-shirts caused her eyes to widen so that they were even larger, as though it was the most fantastic thing she'd ever heard of in all the millenia she'd existed on this planet, because in that moment it honestly really might have been. "Oh my gosh. They could have what's her name on them. That girl. With the... the hair." She gestured wildly with her hands, grasping for the name. She wasn't exactly in touch with children's movies, what with being ancient.

She rolled her eyes and looked at him for help, exasperated as though of the opinion that he should really know this. "The Frozen girl! Ummmm... Elsa!" She snapped her fingers and beamed, victorious.

"Well of course," he answered, grinning. "It's got some minor damage that I need to fix, but it's mostly intact, thankfully. So I'll probably be fixing it tomorrow."

He snorted. "Well I should think that's a given," he agreed, his grin not fading at all. "You wouldn't believe the number of kids who start yelling about Frozen as soon as they walk in." He swallowed the kneejerk urge to tell her about Cass and Bri and the snowmen, that wasn't something he was willing to poke at too closely right now. His face still showed nothing but amusement, especially at the prospect of Elsa shirts. "And I'm pretty sure no one would look twice at me wearing one."

Again the corners of her mouth faltered at the reminder of the attacks... a pang of guilt coursed through her. The people here had been through something atrocious, and here she was, waltzing in and making light of things.

But then, he certainly didn't seem to mind, and she had to laugh at his retort. "Oh, I believe it," she assured him; human children's love of that film was infamous enough so that even she had taken notice, and she rarely surrounded herself with the tiny things.

"Well I certainly wouldn't, what with the two of you having so much in common. You'd look amazing."

She once again took to rubbing vigorously at her arms, giving him an apologetic look as she added, "I, however, do not have so much in common with an ice queen. I might continue to stroll the Midway for a bit longer, if you'd like to join me."

"I've seen so many little kids wandering around singing 'Let It Go'," he told her, his smile softening. "They're just having fun, and even though I like to tell everyone I don't care about anything, kids are only kids for so long. Let 'em have fun for a while."

He beamed, turning a pirouette on the spot. "Well I did tell someone I was an ice queen once," he laughed. "So it's a pretty decent comparison.

"No worries, not everyone is basically made of ice like me," he joked. "Yeah, let's head out. Maybe we can bribe someone into making some snacks."
