Felix and Jade - The Midway
"Shit. Shit. Shit. Shit."
It was a gentle chant under his breath as he emerged from the Wonderland Gardens tent, a solid wall of earth rising from the ground to block the entrance after him; there was a group of guests still inside, and it was the least he could do to protect them from what was happening outside.
Guns. Men. Running. Screaming. Hurry, the plants had whispered, and he'd rushed to oblige, stepping out into the Midway with a panicked expression on his face. He couldn't see, not by any normal definition of the word, but he could feel the tremors of the earth as people stampeded past him, could feel where the tents and stalls were staked, and this gave him some general layout of his surroundings. He could tell who was firing into the crowd by the way their bodies reverberated from the blasts of their weapons.
Some few feet away, he felt the little girl fall and moved forward to help her, but was intercepted by someone... someone friendly, and someone without a pulse. Clearly one of theirs, by the way he sent the little one scampering off to safety.
His blue eyes bored into Felix's shoulder as he jogged up beside him. "What the fuck's going on!?" he yelled over the commotion, and flinched as gunfire rang out once again.
