Nevenka's insatiability had, once upon a time and for the briefest of instances, taken Jianfan unawares. Almost immediately, he had come to love the feeling of her hands desperately clawing at him as if she couldn't wait to have him. Like with every single one of her whims, he was ready to indulge her without thought or question, even after all this time.
Hips arching into her touch as his zipper was tugged down, Ji pushed himself further into the kiss as the scent of flowers, always so prominent in her presence, caused him to smile contently against her lips.
An unfamiliar sound behind them interrupted the moment.
Glancing up, Ji took note of the terrified look on his wife's face before peering over his shoulder. The creature, orange eyes ablaze, slowly began to approach as Ji blindly set Nevenka down and stepped in front of her to shield her from its view. In several quick motions, he had zipped his pants back up and reached down to his side, long fingers curling around the hilt of his dao, the weapon previously concealed by magic and holstered in the scabbard resting against his hip.
"Stay behind me," he instructed, drawing his sword and narrowing his eyes as the creature paused, considered, then leapt for the two of them with a vicious growl.
Ji raised his sword, both hands gripping the hilt, and swung as the beast lashed out with its claws. He let out a quiet hiss as two long scrams along his forearm bloomed blood, the breath of sound overpowered by the creature's yelp as it retreated momentarily after being sliced along one of its front legs.
