"I'm not a very good victim," Lamb agreed. She was so used to being unstoppable and even if someone overcame her - which wasn't that difficult for other supernaturals, she couldn't match a lot of the more powerful types for strength - she could just leave her flesh, let it drop like the corpse it was.
"Trouble is fun," Lamb smiled. "I have to be very good in here or the Ringmaster will be cross and get rid of me, and I like staying here. But the best fun is pain. I like making it. I like having it. It's very interesting and there are different types. Vetalas can't feel pain outside the corpses we live in. We don't feel anything out there, except hunger."
She watched his hands move across the table and imagined if they snapped bones, tore flesh, made tears. "I like new friends, new playmates to go hunting with. Do you eat them, the humans? I might share."
