"It was not the finest vintage," Rose agreed, after glancing towards the voice to ensure that he was, in fact, addressing her. She limited herself to two drinks in public, especially unescorted, and she considered her first wasted on the red that she'd drunk rather than fight her way through the crush to get something else. She'd been more interested in the medical discussions, anyway. That had been before she'd begun to see the various illicit substances making their way around the party. It wasn't something she was unfamiliar with from her time working with human doctors, but it was a small disappointment all the same. She'd merely sighed and made a mental note to keep a tight rein on her magic lest she end up with a secondhand high.
Placing an order for a club soda with lime, she turned to the gold-masked man, placing her hand in his to shake. "Rose," she introduced herself with a small, polite smile. "A pleasure, Jacques. Alas that I learned of the wine too late."
