"An honest woman taken seemingly too soon may have fulfilled her purpose in her life, whether it is the child she bears or something she has done previously may not be something we know," Zane stated before his silence. The population of the world looked at natural deaths as being terrible things, but dying in labour or taken by disease could be a lesson for others or a sign of having accomplished the truth of one's life. Zane's faith and personal belief of being clouded from the sight of God did not stop him from believing that humanities idea of what life's purpose should be was not necessarily correct. Deaths to be mourned heavily and with guilt were ones taken mercilessly by others, deaths Jaq and Eilis had pushed him towards for their amusement.
Zane held his breath with each inch of space taken away from him. Breathing- that silly thing that vampires did not necessarily need but did out of habit- became harder to do with Jaq so close, his scent swirling through Zane's nostrils bringing up flashes of memories- darkened moments, some with passion, some with pain.
"She is twenty, barely turned and just out of the frenzy period." He answered honestly after a minute of further silence. Zane found himself unable to inform his body to move away from the pressured questions and the invasion of his personal space. His eyes flicked down to the hand keeping his face up. "No, I found her. Whoever turned her had left her to die."
