Welcome to Chromatic Vision, a multi-fandom chromatic character and real people challenge. The reason for creating this challenge is simple; we want to increase the amount of fannish works of characters of color.

This is not an exchange and there aren't any assignments. Simply sign up for a character or real person (or several!) and start creating. We accept any ratings as well as het/slash/gen/femslash.

When was the last time I drew sparkly hearts around you (and your co-mods)? You have a drop out form! You have a flexible archiving policy! You are hosting this challenge in the first place! ♥

Of course, nothing drives home how white one's media consumption is like trying to find a CoC to write about. ::pokes at fandoms, contemplates writing Zorro fic (amazingly, the old Filmation cartoon actually had a Latino voicing Zorro; it may have been the first time an American production of the character didn't have him played by a white dude)::

	Hee! We wanted to be as inclusive as possible with our challenge, as well as host a CoC fest to begin with! Yeah, exactly. It's definitely an eye opener to see how white our fannish source materials are, where sometimes there isn't even a single CoC in the main cast, let alone as one of the main characters. Hello.

My name is missreeree and I have an Archive of Our Own account. In fact, it was from that site that I linked to this. I'd recently bemoaned the fact that there aren't many fanfictions that feature characters of color, in major roles and I wish to see more. I can't understand the reason, maybe the writer feels that it will not appeal to the readers or the writer hasn't considered using such a character. I am happy that I came across this site.

I have been writing on the net, under another pseudonym, and I wish that I had hear about this group before now because I feature characters of color in major roles. Unfortunately, they are usually Original Characters.

I just have a question, will you be running this later in the year? At the moment, real life situations have prevented me from writing, but I hope to resume within the next month or so.

Once again, thank you for this and I will certainly sign up for an IA account. Until then, I will bookmark this page.

Hello, missreeree!

There are plenty of reasons why people do not write fics with characters of color, but it all results in the same thing, less love for CoCs. The mods at

chromaticvision hope to reverse some of that with this challenge.

While we definitely want to run this challenge again, I can't give exact dates on whether this will be a bi-annual challenge or an annual, or anything in between. If you'd like, you can certainly sign up now and post during our amnesty period (April 25th onward). You would still get added to our masterlist as well as the archive if you opt into that. There are no repercussions for dropping out. We even have a segment called Everything Old Is New, where people can submit their older works featuring characters of color for wider exposure and new love.

You're welcome, and even if you are unable to sign up this time around, we hope that you'll the works that get produced.
