Entry tags:day 3, martha jones, the doctor

Character(s): Martha Jones, the doctor & open
Day: day 3
Time of Day: evening
Location: lobby - good side of town
Rating: PG probably
Status: incomplete

Martha was on her way back to her room. Luckily there didn't seem to be any more demon or alien attacks today. Hopefully it would stay that way, as Martha had decided to leave the medical area earlier today. She still had her mobile on and put a note with her number on the door before she left.

Walking into the living quarters lobby Martha wondered if there were any new arrivals today. She really hoped the doctor would arrive soon. She'd just feel safer if he was here. On the other hand she didn't really want to involve him in a war. He always had that haunted look on his face when the Time War was mentioned. Maybe it was better if he stayed away after all. He had been through enough already.

She then headed towards the stairs to go to her room.

The Doctor yawned loudly as he shut his and Rose's bedroom door and headed for the stairs. He had slept wonderfully, but now he needed to get back out there and find a way to get home. Or locate the TARDIS. He wanted to just spend all his time with Rose, but knew that if he didn't locate the TARDIS soon he'd be lost. He didn't feel whole without it. As he neared the stairs he noticed someone coming up them. He stopped dead in the hall and blinked. It really couldn't be, right? His luck wasn't THIS good.

"Martha?"

Matha paused when she heard her name. She knew that voice! A smile appeared on her lips as she looked up. There he was, standing just a few feet away.

"Doctor", she called and then rushed towards him, throwing her arms around him.

"You're here", she said as she hugged him tightly. Relief washed over her. Now everything would turn out good, she was sure of it.

"Did you come to get us home or to help?", she then asked as she slowly let go of him.

The Doctor grinned widely as he wrapped his arms around her and swung her around. Two of his companions in one place. It was starting to look better and better around here.

"Oh Doctor Jones, I'm glad you're here. I'm sure you'll be needed." He set her back on the ground and grinned again.

"Need to find my TARDIS before I can get us home, so I'm helping out until then."

Martha grinned happily when he swung her around.

"I'll do my best", she told him.

"You lost the TARDIS?", she then asked staring at him. "You're kidding, right?" She hoped it was just a joke, that the TARDIS was parked right outside or even inside. But he didn't really look like he was joking. Maybe the TARDIS wasn't here at all. Could the doctor have been brought here without the TARDIS? That would be... weird. And it would mean they were stuck here.

"Well, at least you remember me." That was something. It was bad enough Jack didn't know her, but if the doctor hadn't known her... Well, luckily that wasn't the case.

"Jack's here, too. But he hadn't met me yet. Whoever brought us here is messing with timelines", she told him feeling uneasy again. That just couldn't be good.

"No I didn't lose the TARDIS. I'm sure she's here somewhere. Just, missing. Or taking herself out for a while.." He didn't know why he was talking like the TARDIS could grow legs, but he had never really lost her before where he didn't know where to look for her. He was about to go on to explain that if he could find the parts he could modify his sonic screwdriver to call the TARDIS to the, when Martha mentioned Jack. His eyes widened slightly.

"Jack... he..." The Doctor shook his head and frowned. He ran a hand through his hair and hung his head. That meant that Jack didn't remember the time he spent with the Master. Which would be good, but then he was probably still mad at him for leaving him on Sat. 5. He closed his eyes and then smiled softly, it was a pained smile though.

"Rose is here too. But she doesn't remember..." He stopped and frowned. Rose didn't remember their true last meeting. Jack didn't remember Martha. But what did... "Wait... What is the last thing WE did together Martha Jones?" He needed to know. For his own sanity. He hoped that he wasn't the only one to remember everything.

Martha smiled slightly. She hoped he was right. They surely would need the TARDIS.

She then looked at the doctor, waiting for him to finish his sentence. But he never did. Instead he had that look... the look he always had when he was trying to pretend that everything was fine. But Martha knew him better by now. "Jack's fine. I talked to him yesterday. He can't wait to see you", she said.

When he said that Rose was there, too, Martha was surprised to notice that she really felt glad about it. She really had changed and moved on. It was definitely a good feeling. And it was good that Rose was there. The doctor deserved to be happy and he couldn't be happy without Rose.

She then stared at the doctor. She doesn't remember what? But before she could ask the doctor spoke again. She then frowned. He was right, what was the last thing they did together? Was he from another point in time as well?

"We got the earth back home", she said, looking at him, hoping that he would remember that, too. "After the Daleks kind of kidnapped it."

The Doctor felt his face split in two at hearing what Martha remembered. It felt so good to not be the only one who actually remembered it. Having Rose not remember meeting him again and then loosing him again, but having a clone of him, and having to lose Donna and losing Jack once more.

"Oh that is good then. So I'm not the only one who remembers driving Earth home. Rose doesn't remember it, and if Jack doesn't know you then he doesn't remember it. Which means he also doesn't remember meeting the Master and all that." He smiled a bit softer. "Now all we need is our Smiths and Donna."

Martha smiled happily when the doctor said that he remembered that, too.

"Yes, that's good", she agreed with a grin. Being the only one that remembered it would have been strange.

"Yeah, that is a good thing", she said. Not remembering the master was something she almost wished for herself. And if she could make her family forget that year, that technically never was, she'd do it.

At his last declaration Martha grinned. She hardly knew Sarah Jane, but she definitely missed Donna and Mickey. She didn't know them that well either, but they already had a special place in her heart. And she wouldn't mind getting to know Sarah Jane better either.

"Maybe they'll arrive soon. Who knows? And if not... well, they might be better off staying home." If the whole war thing was true staying home was safer. "We'll just have to get back home as well."

"That is the ultimate goal. To get everyone here back to their proper places. Which is why I have to find the TARDIS." He shook his head and sighed. "I'm running out of things to try. If I can't amp the single from my screwdriver, I think we might be stuck until whatever or whoever brought us here decides to send us home."

"Good", Martha said. She really wanted to get back home. "If you need help finding the TARDIS I'm here", she said. She missed spending time with the doctor anyway. She might have moved on, but the doctor still had a special place in her heart.

Hearing what the doctor said next made Martha frown. "We'll find her", she said trying to reassure them both. "There are science labs and computers in the next building. Maybe you can find something to scan the whole island for the TARDIS", she suggested.

He nods happily, "Oh I know. I've been reaching for since I got here. But so far I've gotten no where. But I wont give up hope. Especially now that I have my inspiration here." He gave her a bright smile.

Martha grinned. Was he saying that she was an inspiration for him? It definitely felt good to hear that.

"So, what are you doing now?", she then asked. She didn't have any plans and spending time with the doctor sounded like a good idea. Well, if he didn't have plans with Rose already.

Then she suddenly looked directly at him again. "Which one are you?", she asked. She had almost forgotten that there were two of him now.

The Doctor blinked at the last question. But then he broke out into a giant smile.

"Oh I'm the Time Lord, that ones for sure." He pulled Martha's hand to his chest and smiled. "See? Two hearts."

He dropped her hand and looked around. "Well I was going to go out and search, but I think I can pass on one day. What did you have in mind?"

Martha was glad when he said he was the Time Lord. And feeling the steady rhythm of his two hearts made her smile. It wasn't that she didn't like the other doctor but it was still kind of weird to have two doctors.

"Good. It feels like I know you better", she said. She knew the other one had the same memories and looked exactly the same. But still it was this doctor that had been travelling through time with her.

"Hm, I didn't really have plans. Just got back from the infiramry", she answered. "Maybe we should go and see if Jack is in his room. I'm sure he still has a few questions for you."

"Oh! Do you know where he's staying? Even if he doesn't remember all of the stuff we've been through... I'd very much like to see him." The Doctor smiled and bounced on the balls of his feet. He did want to see Jack. There just wasn't any other person in the span of space and time that was like him. Even if he did feel a little weird.

Martha smiled and nodded. "He's in room 230", she said and then gestured at the stairs to go up.

She then grinned when she noticed how the doctor bounced eagerly. It was just so... doctor-like. There simply was noone else like him around. Well, there now was. He had a clone after all.

"Come on", she said as she walked the rest of the stairs up and then turned into the floor that led to her and Jacks rooms. It was nice to have a room close to him.

"Where's your room?", she then asked.

The Doctor nodded and then gave her a large smile. "Well Rose and I are staying in Room 211. To think. Jack was right down the hall from us and we never even knew it."

"I'm right down the hall, too", Martha said with a smile. "Room 227. You're welcome to come by. Rose, too. Still have to get to know her properly. And I guess she has to meet me for the first time... again."

They then walked down the hall and stopped infront of room 230. Martha knocked and waited, hoping that Jack was there.

For no obvious reason that he could ascertain, Jack was humming and singing: "I could have danced all night, danced all night" when someone knocked on the door.

"Hello!" he said as he opened it, then he saw who it was. "Martha!" He beamed at her and noticed another familiar face. "Doctor, long timeline no see!"

The doctor waited next to Martha. His thoughts went back to the time he had met Jack again at the end of the universe. He ran away from him then, because what Jack had become was impossible. Noone was supposed to live forever. But he knew better now. Like Jack had said he might have been a little prejudiced. And besides, Jack might not really live forever. If he really was the Face of Boe he would die one day and he'd do it saving a lot of people.

A small smile appeared on the doctors face as he thought about Jack. Then the door opened and he was standing right infront of him. He grinned.

"Yeah well, I'v actually just seen you a few days ago", he said with a shrug while brushing past Jack and entering the room without waiting for an invitation. Then he swirled around and faced Jack.

"So, how'd you know it's me? Martha said you don't remember meeting us at the end of the universe", he said. He had wondered the last time already. But he took Jacks word for it then. Now that he knew about Jack working for Torchwood he wondered if they maybe had more information on him than he'd like them to. He had tried to get rid of all information about him some time ago. But maybe it hadn't worked out that well. On the other hand what if Torchwood had information on him? He had started to like them. Well, at least Jacks team. They worked well together in saving the earth and the entire universe with it.

"How could I not know it's you, Doctor?" Jack retorted, smiling widely. He went over to open a cabinet and pulled out the container with the Doctor's hand in it. The liquid was bubbling and even seemed to glow with its own light. Jack looked at Martha and the Doctor.

"Well there's this... and besides, we have a picture or two of you at Torchwood. We got them from websites before shutting them down, you see."

Martha smirked at Jacks answer. He was still his charming self, she thought as she followed the doctor into the room.

She then stared at the hand. It didn't creep her out as much as it did when she first saw it. But it was still weird. She then glanced at the doctor.

"Does that mean we're getting another one of you soon?", she asked pointing at the hand.

The doctor grinned at Jacks words. Then he followed Jack and peered into the cabinet. Seeing his hand he frowned. That hand really hadn't brought him much luck. First he master used it to age him, then it changed Donna so she would have died if he didn't remove her memory and then it produced a clone of him that got Rose. No, he didn't particularly like seeing that hand. That Rose was here now didn't change his opinion much. It had still hurt a lot to see her kiss his clone.

"You had to bring that with you, didn't you?", he asked. Then he turned to face Martha.

"I hope not", he declared. He really wasn't willing to share Rose or any of his companions with another version of himself.
