Character(s): Henry and Yazoo
Day: 3
Time of Day: Night)
Location: Walking (toward the park)
Rating: PG-13?
Status: incomplete

He took a walk after he left the firing range. He had shot the targets with predictable accuracy, a boring process since nothing moved or deflected the bullets or best of all, were hit and died. Never mind that he had seen life and death from other perspectives in the Lifestream; Yazoo would always feel shooting should kill. If he wanted harmless games he'd join Loz at the arcade.

Walking toward the park, he turned onto the broad road between the cafe and restaurant. He still held Velvet Nightmare, feeling how warm the weapon was along its barrel with his gloveless hands. Yazoo didn't wear his long leather coat either, opting for a t-shirt and dark jeans found in their rooms, though he still strolled in his familiar boots. He might not be convinced it was really war here but nonetheless, he didn't want to walk barefoot or in any sort of summer sandals. Somehow he wouldn't feel prepared for a fight with exposed feet.

He shook his head, smirking to himself as he thought they'd only come across one woman with a gun so far and she wasn't the enemy. Smirking even more, Yazoo considered their trip to the other side of town when he suddenly turned and pointed Velvet Nightmare at someone who approached. His reaction was instinctive, smooth and potentially lethal.

Yazoo laughed when he saw who it was. He deftly holstered his gunblade behind himself.

"Henry. Time for guard duty again?" he greeted, slightly readjusting the leather straps criss-crossing over his chest. Perhaps he'd get a second weapon and tie its holster to his leg.

Henry smiled when Yazoo noticed his approach. He really seemed to be able to take care of himself, which was a good thing. Henry didn't want anything to happen to the silver haired man.

"No, just finished that", he said still smiling.

"How are you today?", he then asked as he stepped a little closer. "And where are your brothers?" It wasn't that Henry minded having Yazoo all to himself. Yazoo seemed to enjoy his company the most and Henry liked him. He was just trying to make conversation.

"Where are you heading?"

Yazoo tilted his head slightly as he thought it felt a little weird having someone chitchat about how he was today. It was the first time he'd actually been asked that question.

"I'm fine, great," he answered. "Maybe a little bored. When I left them, Loz was playing pinball and Kadaj was looking, well, bored." He laughed and the sound was rather musical.

"Seems I'm going to the park," he said, waving in the direction of the beautifully landscaped green area. "I just tried out the firing range." He wondered why he felt like talking, especially in amiable tones. So much about physical existence was still new. A lot of the 'memories' belonged to someone else, Sephiroth, from whom he had grown independent. He shook his head a little.

Henry smiled at Yazoos answer. "Is the war not starting soon enough for them?", he then asked. They were all warriors. Maybe they were bored because there was nothing there to fight. He however hoped that was not the case. There was so much more to life than fighting.

Henrys eyes were fixed on Yazoo as he laughed. He liked the sound of his laugh. It mad ehim smile again.

"Mind if I join you?", Henry asked while starting to walk beside the young man.

"Getting ready, I see", Henry said. Maybe he should soon train a bit as well. He wouldn't need any training if the other side had only human fighters. But somehow he doubted that. There probably were lots of demons and maybe other vampires.

"I'm ready already," Yazoo answered. "All three of us." He walked toward the park and they were within the boundaries of green and trees soon enough. Glancing around, his expression seemed to say he didn't see much of a reason for having a park here.

"The other side seems about as empty as this," he commented.

Henry smiled at Yazoos confidence. He liked confident people.

As they entered the park Henry glanced around. It looked really peaceful. It was strange to be in such a lovely place and be supposed to fight a war there. It felt like the quiet before the storm. First they got all these gifts and then were supposed to fight and kill for it. He really hoped this was all real, because he didn't want to participate in a war if it wasn't actually for a good cause.

When Yazoo spoke again Henrys head turned around to look at him very fast. He stared at the young man. "You went to the other side of town?", he asked with a frown.

Yazoo looked amused at the man's reaction because it was funny how the names of his brothers and himself had been written in the book on the good side of this place.

"Yes, Henry, we went to the other side of town, where we dined and met a demon named Ruby," he said, combining serious with rebellious in his voice. "I guess I need to explain about us and why it's amusing we were picked for this supposed war. You won't have ever met anyone like us," he promised. "Unless anyone else here wasn't actually born, died fighting, and only then were kidnapped by whatever runs this town."

Yazoo's eyes gleamed their absolute most brilliant green.

Henry stared at Yazoo, even more concerned when he mentioned a demon. Demons were the worst creatures in existence!

He was about to ask what they were thinking when Yazoo continued to talk.

Henry frowned. No, he definitely had never met anyone like them. He knew it the moment he smelled their blood. They were different. Now it seemed that they also lacked common sense. You just didn't walk into a town full of evil. Who knew how many murderous demons, humans or other creatures were there already?

Then he stared at Yazoo. "What do you mean you weren't born?" Now he was confused. Everyone was born. Or maybe not. Were demons born? He didn't know. "And are you trying to tell me that you were dead when you were brought here?" Well, technically he was dead himself, or better undead. But Yazoo and his brothers were no vampires. He'd know if the were.

"Our story is a complicated one, Henry." Yazoo decided to relent and not toy as much with the man as his catlike instincts told him to. He couldn't deny he actually liked Henry, the first person aside from his brothers whom he didn't disdain. Of course they had liked Aerith once they were in the Lifestream but since they were 'dead', it didn't count the same way this did.

"Do you have the time to hear about us not being born and yes, we did die. Nothing about us is normal, not even on a world where soldiers were genetically enhanced to be the fastest and strongest," he baited with pride. "We were called the evil ones there. And how about you, were you considered good where you're from?"

Henry looked at Yazoo curiously. He had wanted to find out more about him and his brothers from the moment he met them. Maybe he would now.

"I have all night", he said, his eyes fixed on Yazoo.

Then he frowned. He didn't really understand. Why would someone who was evil be brought here to the good side? And why should Yazoo be evil? That didn't sound right. He just didn't seem evil to him.

Hearing Yazoos last question Henrys eyes narrowed. "That depends", he said. "The ones who really knew me would say yes. But people who didn't know me and found out what I am would probably consider me evil." There just was that stereotype about vampires being evil.

A smile played over Yazoo's lips as he definitely got the idea Henry was inviting him to... something nice. He met the other's eyes and only blinked when Henry frowned. The question of being on the good side apparently was something a little puzzling for his new friend too.

And Yazoo became curious. "I assume my story's the longer one but perhaps it's not," he said with a thoughtful purr in his voice. "I want to hear your story too." This was fascinating; he really wanted to share with someone who wasn't Loz or Kadaj. He tilted his head slightly, his expression wondering who and what Henry really was.

When Yazoo smiled Henry couldn't help but smile as well. His smile was catching.

"I don't know which story is the longer one, but we can see. Tell me about yourself and I'll tell you about me", he said. There weren't many people he had actually told the truth about himself, but he felt like he could tell Yazoo. He seemed openminded enough to believe him and also trustworthy. Most people here seemed openminded. It was a bit strange for him to be around so many people that might be willing to accept him for who he really was. It was a nice change. Being here didn't seem so bad right now.

Nodding made his silver fringe flow almost like water. His graceful hand pushed the hair out of his eyes. As he strolled through the park slowly, Yazoo began talking about events that were important in defining who he was past, present and future.

"Our history really starts with the Calamity from the Skies. She arrived on the planet about two thousand years in our past when the Cetra were there for her to... use and amuse herself with. Have you ever met aliens where you came from, Henry?" Yazoo invited the other man to join in. Loz wouldn't be too interested in explaining. Kadaj would do it with a sneering veneer of pride and callous disregard. Yazoo let the charming part of Sephiroth he had inherited work for him. Though talking to Henry didn't make this seem like work.

Henry listened to Yazoo talking. He however didn't really understand what he was talking about.

He sightly shook his head. "No, I haven't", he said. He had met a lot of creatures: among them demons, incubus, werewolves and of course vampires. But definitely no aliens.

"What is the Calamity of the Skies and Cetra?", he asked curiously. He sometimes felt like there was nothing really new for him to learn back home. Now Yazoo was providing something very new and different. He was intrigued.

"The Calamity was an alien that crashlanded on the planet," Yazoo responded promptly. "The Cetra were my ancestors, people who lived with the planet's spirit energy as easily as I use my gunblade. They migrated, following seasons and energy shifts. Those who settled, making their lives easier while taking advantage of the spirit energy instead of revering it, became my ancestors."

He stopped walking and turned to look at Henry. "You need to know that Gaia is its own living creature, composed of spirits as well as what we usually see on a world...." Yazoo waved his hand around to generally indicate the trees in the park. "The Lifestream of our planet was something the Cetra tried caring for. When the Calamity arrived, she appeared to the Ancients -- the Cetra -- in the forms of their loved ones, frequently as those who had died and gone to the Lifestream. This alien was a complete shapeshifter. I don't think anyone knows what she, or it, looked like."

Yazoo paused for a few heartbeats before asking "Are you following this? This story's only just begun and it gets more complex."
