Character(s): Silver Haired Men (Kadaj, Yazoo and Loz), Ruby and OTA
Day: Day 2
Time of Day: Night
Location: Exploring all day, then the evil side restaurant
Rating: pg-13
Status: incomplete

Their second day didn't bring about any changes in them. At least that was how Kadaj viewed their new situation. As far as he was concerned, being in the Lifestream back home and evolving there had completed them. They were at once part of the same soul, yet had become individual spirits who functioned together almost like they didn't have separate bodies. Their interactions were flawlessly smooth, having none of the the potential for people accidentally stepping on another's foot nor any other such clumsiness.

Yet Yazoo gazed with interest at all the clothes on the racks in the shop.

But Loz wanted to play the arcade games.

Kadaj decided they were going to explore their new surroundings. Outside, as a team. From early morning until night, they walked through the woods above the town and found a disappointing lack of anything odd. To make it interesting, Kadaj and Yazoo sparred with Souba and Velvet Nightmare. Then Loz shot at some trees with his own gunblade and Yazoo joined in. Of course the entire place couldn't compare to the Forest back home, with its glowing white tree trunks and pools of water reflecting the moon. Here exploring by night or day would never give them the kind of woods they preferred.

Then they boldly entered the other side of town, so-called evil. For the silver-haired men in black leather, the shift in atmosphere was subtle and definitely didn't bother them. Otherwise the buildings seemed to be a mirror of the good side. The restaurant looked just as good. Three warriors from a faraway world piled food on plates and sat around a table to dine.

"I wonder what kind of katanas they have here," Kadaj said.

"How about guns?" Yazoo asked.

"Bullets for Velvet Nightmare?" Loz added.

Ruby entered the restaurant, her thoughts still with Dean and the other two humans she had just met. Part of her was really glad that Dean was here, especially as it meant he wasn't in hell. No good person was supposed to be in hell and Dean especially didn't deserve that. But another part of her would have preferred if he wasn't here. It would have made things easier. People might have trusted her, let her help. Dean wasn't willing to trust her, never had been and surely never would be. She couldn't blame him, but she still hated it. She was going against her nature to help the good guys win and he didn't even care.

She sighed as she walked over to the buffet and put some food on a plate. It looked delicious. If they had food like that back when she was still alive... No, she wouldn't think about her life. It hurt too much to go there. Grabbing a glass of orange juice Ruby then turned around and noticed three men sitting at a table. Glancing at them she noticed that something was different about them. They looked human enough, but she could swear they weren't. It made her curious.

Making up her mind within a second Ruby went over to them. Having existed for centuries Ruby knew a lot and she didn't know what these guys were. She wanted to find out.

"Mind if I sit with you? Eating alone is boring", she said and gave them a smile. People on this side of the town didn't seem to like to mingle. But they were supposed to fight together, so that was a good enough excuse to try and get to know someone.

Loz blinked at her and stared, thinking she was pretty. With a sudden, unexpected blush, he glanced away and momentarily found Yazoo's amused gaze on him.

"Please join us," Yazoo invited, indicating a chair between himself and Kadaj, who just stared at her.

Loz decided to give her a smile.

"How long have you been here?" Kadaj challenged. She looked like a woman but there was something in her aura, in her scent, that indicated she was different.

Ruby watched the three men with curiosity. When one of them invited her to join them she sat down and put her plate and glass on the table.

She then was surprised by the smile the short-haired one gave her. It seemed kind of innocent and sincere, which was something she hadn't expected on this side of town. She returned the smile with one of her own real smiles. She rarely did smile in that way. There simply seemed to be no reason for smiling.

Her smile then however vanished. She was on the evil side of town. These people probably were just deceptive.

"For about 3 weeks", she answered and then popped some of the chips into her mouth. She loved chips. They were a great invention.

"What about you?"

Loz look at her, glanced at his brothers, then watched her curiously. He wondered why a seemingly normal woman would be here for some ultimate war between evil and good. So far everything was disappointing, as far as fighting went anyway. He didn't think she would be any challenge. He bit his lip in disappointment.

"This is our second day," Kadaj answered, sounding businesslike and remote. "Do you know anything besides we're supposed to be in a war here?"

Yazoo didn't even look at them, staring off at nothing in particular though he did listen.

Ruby nodded. That made sense, as she hadn't seen them around. The way they looked she was sure she would have noticed them. They stood out.

"No, not really", she answered Kadaj. "Just that it is supposed to be the final war between good and evil that it will decide about the fate of all other wars."

Ruby ate some more chips and looked at the silver haired men one by one, wondering what their story was.

"So, what did you do to be brought here?", she asked.

"That doesn't sound like fun," Loz commented. "What would we do without wars? Dark and light, war and peace, they just go together."

Kadaj just looked at him, pretty much agreeing though he had learned about more than being a warrior, or 'playing', like his strongest brother loved to say. He had a precious few memories even from Sephiroth about more than war, but of course he had experienced a vast range in the Lifestream and done so hungrily.

Yazoo snapped out of his apparent fascination with empty space. His eyes sidled over to look at Ruby before he turned his head in her direction. "We didn't do anything to be brought here as far as I can determine. Except for knowing how to fight." His eyes looked her up and down. "What are your -- talents?"

Ruby glanced at Loz. He had a point, but if she had her way all evil would rot in hell and stay there. And no good people would ever have to go to hell.

"I don't think good or evil would disappear after this war", she finally said. That just seemed impossible. "I guess the outcome of other wars could be predetermined by this war. Wars wouldn't just disappear completely." At least that was what she thought.

When Yazoo spoke Ruby turned to face him. She then smiled. The way they looked and judging by the weapons they had Ruby had been sure they knew how to fight.

"My talents... Well, I know how to fight, too", she stated with a grin. "And I know some magic." That was as much as she would tell them after just meeting them.

"Why are you on this side of town?", she then asked. Fighting didn't make you evil.

Kadaj took his green stare off of Yazoo to study Ruby sitting between them.

"No particular reason," he answered her, honestly not having a specific answer for that question. "We're just looking around. I guess tomorrow we'll see what else is beyond the walls. We're being told about some final war but so far all I see is a town that mirrors itself." He shrugged. "Why are you here?"

Ruby fixed her eyes on Kadaj. Just looking around? Did that mean they weren't from this side of town? Surely not. Which good person would willingly wander into the evil side of town and eat there? Maybe they didn't believe in the final war or that this side of town was evil. Or they were just evasive in answering her questions, which was more likely.

"Because I belong here", Ruby stated. She blinked and her eyes were black for a moment before she blinked again and they turned back to normal. Ruby wasn't trying to lie to them. She knew she belonged here, she could feel the pull from this side of town and she knew that she was evil by definition. She just didn't want to be and wouldn't give in to any pulls. She made her own decisions!

"Must be nice to know exactly where you belong," Yazoo observed. His own eyes, and that of his brothers, all gleamed with more green as their catlike pupils narrowed about the same time Ruby's eyes went black. They stayed at their most slit-like for a few minutes.

"We aren't sure we belong here at all," Kadaj added to the conversation. "Not on this side nor on the other. "I don't think I'd pick us in some fight of good against evil." His tone told how he dissed the idea of the final war.

"Not because we don't know how to fight," Loz said the obvious and blinked at Ruby curiously. "Why do you belong here?" Seeing her eyes change didn't bother him at all. It just made him wonder what her powers were.

Ruby looked at Yazoo when he spoke, but didn't say anything. She couldn't just tell him that she hated where she belonged. Evil guys didn't really like it when you betrayed them. But she then wondered if these guys were evil at all. Thinking about Yazoos question made her wonder if he said it because they weren't sure where they belonged.

She then noticed the way their pupils had changed. It wasn't in a way her own eyes changed because she was a demon inside a human body. It was different. Their eyes almost looked cat-like.

"Nice eyes", she then said with a grin. She was really curious about them. But people around here rarely gave away much about themselves. So why ask?

Then Kadaj spoke and Ruby stared at him. He just told her that? He did realize that someone else, someone really evil might just kill him for that, didn't he? Well, obviously he didn't.

She then blinked, feeling a little surprised by these people. They were not like anyone she had met before. They just chatted openly as if there was nothing to worry about and they just asked what they wanted to know. She had a feeling that they didn't belong on this side of town.

"I'm a demon", she then said, seeing no reason not to tell them. "Demons are evil. So I'm on the evil side of town", she added.

"Thank you," Yazoo purred. "You have nice eyes too and so demon's eyes don't turn red?"

Meanwhile Kadaj could only chortle at her opinion about demons being evil as Loz also thought she didn't really look like someone who was evil.

"Can you be summoned to do someone's bidding?" Kadaj asked. "Where we come from, we can summon creatures and even some people might be under our persuasion. How does it work in your world?"

Ruby turned to Yazoo and smiled. He seemed to be rather charming.

She then shrugged. "I guess they could. There are so many demons. I haven't met them all." And she wouldn't mind if she never had to see any of them again.

"Some demons eyes turn black, some white, some yellow", she told them. They seemed nice enough and telling them about demons might save their lives some day.

When Kadaj chortled Rubys head snapped around and her eyes fixed on his. "Whats so funny?", she asked.

She then cocked her head and frowned at Kadajs next question. Did he really expect her to tell him that she could be summoned to do anyones bidding if it was the case?

"No", she simply said. She could be summoned, but she wasn't willing to tell them that. And it wasn't exactly what he asked. Noone could make her do things she didn't want to. If that were possible she would be out there killing innocents like the rest of the demons did.

"It doesn't work like that where I'm from", she answered. "But I could leave this body and take over yours", she added with a mischievous smirk.
