Day: Day 2
Time of Day: Evening
Location: The Forest

Angel groaned, his chest hurting from the fall as he lay face down on what appeared to be forest floor. There were leaves strewn all over him from the fall, and broken branches to mark the angle of his fall. Why can't those damn demons leave him alone for one night. Just one. Stupid. Night. If this was another dimension that he'd been sent to, there definitely would be imps or vampires or uglies of some sort that were going to be after him.

Rolling onto his back, Angel groaned again when he realised what he was wearing. Dressed in the embarrassing set of bright rubber ducky boxers that had somehow made its way into his suitcase and nothing else, he was in a pretty stupid situation. If anyone was after him, he hoped they had some form of rubber duck or yellow phobia.

"You'd think they might have at least let me put on my pants first," he muttered to himself as he stood, cracking his stiff shoulders and back from where he had fallen. He could almost hear the deranged power that had warped him this time, dropping him off a couple of hundred feet in the air.

If Angel had been human, he'd be dead. And that fact sobered him up to the possibility that someone else still wanted him dead.

Faith had just finished her guard duty and was about to leave the town wall, when she saw something fall out of the sky a short distance into the woods. As she didn't have anything else to do she decided to go and check it out.

It didn't take her long to leave the town and walk into the woods. Hearing a noise Faith followed it and soon noticed a dark figure between the trees. She should have brought a flashlight. But being a slayer Faith was used to sneaking around in the dark.

Stepping closer Faith then noticed that the man looked rather familiar. She however had never seen him like that.

"Nice boxers", she said sarcastically as she checked him out closely.

"Please tell me you didn't try to impress a girl with them!"

That couldn't be who he thought it was... could it?

The long hair, and that face told him otherwise, as did the smile playing on her lips. Angel felt caught between smiling at the fact that he wasn't alone, and trying to cover up his shameful clothes... or cloth.

"Only those that aren't out to kill me," his retort sounded lame even to his own ears as he stood tall in an attempt to regain his pride. He could feel the blush crawling up his cheeks even though, technically, his blood didn't really need to circulate.

"What are you doing here? Or more importantly, where are we?"

Faith grinned. It was definitely good to see Angel. But she never would have imagined to see him like that.

"Well, some girls might want to kill you for wearing those... if they can stop laughing", she said and chuckled slightly.

"Checking you out", she then answered his question with a grin. The boxers were distracting, but Angel still looked hot.

Faith then turned serious again. "Sorry. Got a little distracted there." Then she grinned again. "I bet Buffy would have loved to see you like that. But that's probably not a good idea. She might have decided to get rid of the boxers... And we know that that's not a good idea. Going evil here is a no go!" Not that it ever was good if Angel turned into Angelus.

"I don't really know where exactly we are. But we apparently have been brought here to fight in the final war between good and evil", she then started to explain a little. "And of course you couldn't miss that. Should have known."

He could feel his ears turning red at her suggestion, and noticed that her gaze was definitely focused on somewhere lower than his face. Angel sighed, Faith was one of those undeniable forces of nature. No matter what happened, she'd still be the same tough girl he knew in Sunnydale. Choosing to ignore the rest of her suggestive comments, his brain froze at the mention of Buffy.

"Wait. Is Buffy here?" his surprise was genuine that not only one, but two girls from his past would be here. And Buffy... well, there were several regrets from that particular memory.

"I just landed not too long ago, so I have no clue what's going on."

What she said didn't make sense... Final war? Good and evil? Last he knew, The Powers That Be didn't really care about him anymore... or at least, he hoped so.

"Yes, Buffy is here. She arrived yesterday", Faith told him.

Faith then pointed in the direction of the town. "Why don't we go into town and get you to your room, so you can get some clothes", Faith suggested. She really didn't think it was a good idea for her to be around Angel like that, especially as Buffy might not be too far away.

"Noone I meet seems to have a clue what's exactly going on. But we all arrived here all of a sudden. We get rooms that have our own thing in them and a welcoming letter, explaining that we were chosen to fight in the final war", she said as she walked towards the town.

They then stepped out of the woods and saw the town walls infront of them.

"That's the town. The good guys are on this side of the town. And the bad guys over there." She pointed in the direction.

"It seems like more and more people are brought here to get ready for the war."

"Sounds a bit crazy," then again life had never exactly been "normal" for Angel.

"Clothes sound really, really good," he muttered under his breath as he followed Faith, hoping that no one else would see him in this embarrassing predicament. He hardly believed that this was the best way to make a good first impression to whoever he was supposed to fight alongside with.

Subconsciously, his eyes drifted to assess Faith. She seemed as fit as ever, and as prepared. He was pretty sure he could see some weapons hidden in her clothes.

Was it really as dangerous here as it was back home?

He looked to where she was pointing, picking up identical sets of buildings just across from each other.

"The war?... And when is this supposed war going to be?" he blanched at the thought of another great battle. They had suffered enough "great battles" to last them a few dozen lifetimes.

"I have to agree about that. Where did you get those anyway? And what happened to the broody looking dark clothes you used to wear? Don't tell me you always had something like that under them!", Faith said and pointed at the boxers.

Then she thought for a bit before facing him again. "Is this your way of trying to scare off women before you can have sex, get all happy and turn evil again?", she wondered. That at least would make sense on some level.

She then shrugged. "Not sure. We're supposed to get notified. For the time being we're getting ready and new people arrive all the time."

They then walked through the gate into the good side of town. Luckily they weren't far away from the living quarters and noone was in sight at the moment.

"I assure you, I did not purchase these," Angel sighed, "An acquaintance of mine snuck it in, apparently. The rest of my clothes were in the wash. Had an uncomfortably bloody orc after me a few hours ago."

Inwardly, he laughed at her suggestion, "There are many other ways to scare off women than to hope that they're turned away by yellow ducks."

New people? From Sunnydale? From Los Angeles? He remained silent, thinking about the possibilities of who these other people were. Angel followed her silently... The future of the Earth mattered more than what he was wearing.

"Yeah, right. That's what they all say", Faith said with a smug grin.

She then glanced at him again. "Sounds like you're keeping busy. Haven't heard from you in a while. How are things in LA?", she asked.

"Really? Can't think of anything worse", she then said chuckling. "Well, they could be pink."

They then arrived at the living quarters and Faith entered, holding the door open for Angel. After that she headed for the reception with the book. Glancing at the open page Faith soon saw Angels name.

"Room 3. That's the basement. You should feel right at home down there. No windows. Henry is in room 1. He's a vampire, too. But a different kind somehow."

"Is there any way for me to remove your attention from the state of my dress?" Angel was close to begging, but his pride stopped him from dropping to his knees. He followed her through the doorway muttering a quiet, "Thanks" when she held it open for him.

He blinked in surprise at her words, "a different kind? From another dimension?"

"Not a chance", Faith answered mockingly serious. He'd have to hear about those boxers for the rest of his life. Or better hers, as he'd probably outlive her, seeing as he was kind of immortal. Well, under normal circumstances anyway. With the upcoming war who knew who'd outlive who?

"I guess so. There seem to be a lot of people from different dimensions here." She then chuckled slightly. "Henry carries a cross around. He's religious!" She laughed. "Can you believe it? A religious vampire. Well, crosses don't seem to burn him, but still. He's cool though. Seems to have a soul. But he claims he never lost his. Weird, isn't it?"

She then grabbed Angels key and handed it to him.

"This way", she said and lead him to the stairs that went down.

Stuck with yellow rubber ducky boxers for the rest of his life eh?... That's a little too long for him. Horrifically long.

The idea of a religious vampire was kind of weird... although for a vampire to not believe that God exists was even more rare. Considering...

The keys dropped into his hand halfway through the thought, and he inspected it with a raised eyebrow. It felt strangely dungeon and dragon as he followed Faith down the stairs.

He half-expected a dragon to pop out and breathe fire all over the both of them.

Faith lead the way down the hall to Angels room, finding it easily.

She then glanced at him.

"There should be your stuff in there. And it probably looks familiar. My room looks a lot like the one I had back home." She started to wonder what was going on at home. Did anyone miss her? Did they need her? She had started training the new slayers. It had been fun. She missed that a little.

Pushing through the door, Angel blinked stupidly at his room. It felt as if he was back in Angel Investigations, the carpet and wall paint all familiar, comforting shades. It felt very Twilight zone.

"Yea, it does," he traced his fingers along the chest of drawers. He hadn't been back in his room at Angel Investigations for so long...

He caught the forlorn tone in her voice, turning to her with concern.

"Do you.... do you miss home?"

Faith looked at Angel a bit surprised. Then she thought about it. A few years ago she would have said no. But then again, a few years ago she probably would have ended up on the other side of town.

"I guess. Maybe a little", Faith admitted silently. "It was kinda nice training the newbies", she said and then smiled slightly. She missed Xander, Willow and Giles as well. But she wasn't sure if they'd miss her. Probably not.

"What about you? Well, you just arrived. Not much time to miss anything, right?", she said as she glanced around the room. It did look familiar.

"Well, I better let you guess dressed. Come find me later and I'll show you around. Room 115", she said and then turned to leave. She better didn't stay, especially with Buffy around. She might have changed, but Angel was still damn tempting.

If he was honest to himself, he missed Sunnydale a lot more than he did Los Angeles. He missed scaring the hell out of Xander, and he missed Buffy...

He looked at Faith out of the corner of his eye as she looked around the room. And if he was truly honest to himself, Angel really did miss Faith.

"I'll do that," he smiled, noticing how she seemed to be in a rush to leave "My rubber ducky boxers scaring you too much?"

Ever since the time he had tasted her blood, he felt different somehow. even though he had been Angelus while that had occurred, Angel had tasted something in Faith. He felt a slight ache in his fangs as he turned away quickly, horrified that he had even thought of her blood.

Faith was at the door when she heard his question. She turned around and grinned slightly.

"Totally", she said with a slight chuckle. Then she left. Angel probably had no idea, that even with those boxer he could probably have any woman. She sighed and tried not to think about Angel in that way. Maybe she should visit Henry later, have some fun. Or find someone else. There were lot's of hot guys arriving lately. She grinned and walked up to her room.
