[ music | "Black Friday" -- Steely Dan ]

Except I might have to duck in and get some "trouser socks" to wear with this pant suit outfit that I'm wearing for this wedding I'm attending this weekend. Hope I still have some...prolly do. Oh yeah, gonna probably have to get lunch out because of timing.

Here's a little Black Friday serenade from Steely Dan. More apropos last year but the Dubai default is currently giving Wall Street the willies so I guess it's somewhat apropos this year too.

Turkey day dolliez news... [26 Nov 2009|01:17pm]

I now have a complete trio of Star Trek 2009 Barbie/Ken dolls. Original price: $150. My price: $38.64 plus tax. Replacing the fail body of Uhura with a Fashionista Artsy who looks better than the original: priceless. Bought them from Big Lots. There were a whole bunch on the shelf.

Dang, the Kirk and Spock dolliez are just made of smexy and awesome. Artsy Uhura actually compliments them quite well. Gotta make her some pierced earrings soon. And the original Uhura? Gonna sell her on eBay as a nude doll. Make back some of my money. ^_^

[FFD fic] the boys are back in town [15 Nov 2009|07:28pm]

Last night I wanted to play some game. Something cool and awesome! Something that would make me write fanfic! something with characters I could love and worlds I could devour and details to sniff out and tiny fiddly gameplay and oh, everything. But I looked at all the games we had and realized that what I didn't want was a replay. No matter how old and dear (and they are all very dear) I did not want to take the SeeD exam again, or march in the ShinRa parade, or jump up and down Babel tower.

I was put-out, to say the least.

Until Joy checked in the proverbial biscuit barrel and declared that we might, maybe, have $40 worth of fun-money left from weekly budgeting.

which just so happens to be the going price these days for a copy of Dissidia.

Of gameplay plot etc, I will say nothing, only that it really isn't well-suited to the PSP, and should have been a real console game. (Joy says this makes me sound old. I think it makes me sound like someone with very cramped thumbs.) It is very much gorgeous and frustrating by turns.

But it's worth it all for the feeling of walking up on a Sunday morning and knowing you have to get to a word file right now.

Cloud and Squall, doing what Cloud and Squall do best. No spoilers, but a few fond and wistful references to my first Final Fantasy slashfic ever. Assuredly not work safe.

Very rough-cut, and I will clean it for y! posting once I've played more than one tiny fraction of the game, so I can make sure I don't have any contradictions. Dispensers of spoilers in the comments will be shot at dawn.
