Halloween Pics and Rectory set again!
I didn't get a lot of pictures of the dolls in their Halloween getups, but there are a few. ^_^ We live in a historic downtown area that gets a hell of a lot of foot traffic for Trick or Treating, but we don't have a lot of space to store decorations so we never get to do up the front of the house as much as we'd like. (really the block goes nuts. It's like a block party.) So this year I decided to do up all the dolls in fancy dress and put them in our window for everybody to see as they stopped by for candy. The kids didn't much care; they were overstimulated already and only hoping for more candy. :p But the responses of the adults were awesome. ^_^
This was my test setup. When I arranged them in the window, it was a little different, but I wanted to make sure everyone would fit! (Next year I think we will just do a couple of dolls in a more complex set.) I painted the backdrop with hills and a graveyard and a haunted house, but you can't see it. Just. Too many dolls. (This is everybody, by the way. :p) Nico has a new red vampire shirt, and Nick has a black pirate top with sash and belt. Janus got a wizard robe, and Arouet got a fancy cape to go with last year's cobweb outfit. The others are just wearing either the cobweb stuff I made last year, or stuff out of the doll drawers like Ilium's demon outfit and Zuzu's little ghost prince. I would have done more, but I ran out of sewing time. Moth is wearing tiny black bat wings.
This is a crummy shot but it gives you an idea of what you would see walking by our window. It was more effective at night! I did a red light over the set so people could see and it made our window glow. People would literally whip around mid-step. Some of the guys were just as interested as their wives, which I thought was really cool. (though one guy, pushing a double stroller, looked at us and said, "That is terrifying" but in a very admiring way. ^_^ there were many many pictures taken and lots of compliments. Here are three crummy low-light closeups of the window, later at night with the light on.
Later, I took some costume shots with the kids sitting around the bedroom.
Nick and Zuzu do not do well with our white walls. :p
I love love love those gold hoops in his ears, though. Arr!
You can see how sparkly Zuzu's face is. ^_^
Ilium, are you playing with Janus' ...wand?
I think Nico is exhausted from lying around pretending to be dead all evening (so hard holding his breath? I dunno) but Moth is as bouncy as ever.
Sorry, these are late night pics and blurry! ^^; Better pics of these outfits are in the Gettysburg shoot in the archives.
Amandine very much dislikes the way the light makes her look like a lemon. She would like to assure everyone she is instead a very nice peach. Arouet does not seem to mind, though.
Later, I assembled the Rectory set of Diderot's bedroom again! So hopefully I will be able to do more photostories since I have a permanent shooting area. Everyone had been working so hard, I thought they should put on their PJs and relax.
I think Djedefra has interrupted the card game.
Bellamy would really like a nintendo DS for Christmas. I'll have to see if I can find him one. ^_^ (maybe a gold zelda one, like mine, since our blue SPs match. ^^; *dork*)
With that dirty look of Amandine's, you'd think she knows her pint of ice cream is really lip balm! Or maybe she just doesn't want to share it with Arouet, sneaking in there with a spoon.
Aannd this shows some more of the set. Some time has passed so I changed some of the things in the shelf. ^_^ they got a fish tank!
And that is all for now! Soon I'll have up Christmas decorations! ...phew!
