Who: Carrick and Hermes When: Tuesday evening, Week 10 Where: Carrick's study Why: Carrick makes a discovery about his new slave Warnings:
Carrick was sitting at his desk, catching up with his finances. He'd realised that a serious cashflow problem might be imminent. He'd sunk a small fortune into preparations for a new round of slave fights with the help of the former gladiator Leo, but since the snowstorm and the floods, the werelion was nowhere to be seen. Reluctantly, Carrick had decided he was going to have to postpone the start of operations until he found a new business partner.
A "new mail" icon popped up in the corner of his monitor, and he quickly flipped to his email inbox. It was a reply from a slave trader in Mexico who was known for supplying some of the finest gladiators in North America. It also happened to be in Spanish. Carrick quickly printed out the email and rang for his newest slave.
When Hermes appeared in the doorway, Carrick beckoned him forwards. "Hermes. You told me you speak Spanish - could you translate this for me? Just read it aloud, if you would." he swivelled his chair to face the slave. "I haven't spoken Spanish since the 1600s, and this is a totally different dialect." He waited expectantly.
