Buffy looked up from the first entry, swallowing the lump in her throat as she realized exactly what she was reading. She squinted at the text that had been scribbled, eventually making some sense out of it.
She wasn't sure what to think of the entry. Ambrose clearly felt remorse in his early years as a vampire for the bloodlust that came after he'd been sired. That didn't change the fact that the lives he took would always be a weight on his shoulders. That he felt guilt at all for it was different than she'd expected from a vampire. The journal she had in her hands now seemed to confirm that her Master wasn't lying about his remorse. Maybe it wasn't an act.
Buffy stood up, making her way out of the Sun Room and heading back into her room. She sat on the edge of the bed and drew in a deep breath, looking back down at the journal and continuing to read.
