Hermes picked up the apple and bit into it once he'd hopped up onto the counter. "See, he's not though," he said chewing and swallowing that first juicy bite. "He has the reputation for it, and the capacity absolutely. Hell if I wanna know what happened to the ones who came before me. Thing is," he said, taking another bite. "He's really not that bad if you're clever and know how to play him. Your boy is clever. I'll give him that. The things in his head holy fuck. You guys have some interesting conversations ahead, I'll say that much."
He looked down at the apple in his hand and then back up at Mitchell. "I came for two reasons. One, to tell you that I gave him exactly the tools he needed to have Carrick wrapped around his finger if he listened to me which...it sounds like he has." So maybe the angel wasn't as prideful as he seemed, that was good. "So at least you could have whatever peace of mind that could bring you. He'll be okay. He's not going to break. You'll get a whole angel back and not the emotional pieces you could've if he'd stayed so typically stubborn."
He tucked his leg under him, heel resting on the counter. "And two...because he's completely devoted to and in love with you and I wanted to see you in person. If I wasn't ordered to be back at the hotel by nightfall, I'd say I'd stay until your angel got home just so you could have the comfort of having Carrick's favourite in your care while he had yours. No threat. Nothing devious. Just... I didn't see the sense of leaving you to worry all day and night on your own."
